I agree - I don’t think he was bad today at all by his standards, and his stars should have made more plays for him. But he didn’t outplay Purdy. And to say that Purdy "padded his stats” for YAC is absurd.

Don't get me wrong - Patullo definitely deserves to go.

But we also have to acknowledge this was one of Hurts worst years as QB since he has taken over. His desire to minimise his running has a fair bit to do with it, along with OL/lack of top-5 running game he has had most of his career and bad playcalling

I'm not saying he played well at all. I had absolutely no hope on that last drive.

I'm just saying it's annoying when you look across the field and see a bunch of JAGs looking like a functional offense, and that happens regularly in today's NFL.

Meanwhile we have to break down Hurts' game every single week when the scheme sucks, the playcalling sucks, and the personnel packages suck.

I'd love to have some generational QB as much as anyone, but the reality is Hurts is good enough and many other factors are affecting his play negatively. We can easily change those factors by canning Siri and Patullo

"Yes", but the reason isn't because hiring from within is bad, it's because they didn't have the quality candidates on the roster to hire from within from. If you lose an OC after a Super Bowl you have a tremendous disadvantage, but you can mitigate that by stashing a candidate that you already know you want.

The offense is not in a good place. There's ZERO depth behind the high priced pieces. The only depth they have, Tank Bigsby, they don't use.

I'm not saying blow it up, but boy, some serious looking in the mirror has to be done first, then a lot of tough decisions and work for Howie to do.

Dickerson and Jurgens contracts are really not movable. Also believe Lane’s contract hurts you a lot cap wise if he retires.

I’d be more on your side with replacing those guys if this wasn’t the first time out of the last five years that the offensive line has had issues. Realistically this offensive line has been good for the last five years. So I tend to think they believe Jurgens not coming off back surgery able to train instead of rehab all off-season. It’s going to likely be better. I kind of think not going into February that some of these guys are gonna have more time to heal up and be better.

Less effective run game which was partly caused by O-line injuries and Hurts not running nearly as much.

Just about everyone on the O-line took a step back this year, whether from injury or not.

Sirianni and KP deserve blame but Stoutland gets a share of that too this year.

Seems to be a good year for a team looking for an OC.

I’d love Stepanski or McDaniels, but unsure if either would be willing to be a OC. It’s an attractive destination too. Great front office, good talent, you pretty much should be granted free rein to run your system. I’m optimistic.

This was absolutely infuriating at the end. They had 3 full time outs with over 1:38 left to play and they started burning the clock down when they were at the 25 yard line. Acting as if them scoring was a "given" when they hadn't scored a 2nd half TD in close to a month. Should have obviously rushed to the line, saving as much time as possible so in case they didn't score, they could still get the ball back with some time had they preserved their timeouts. Mind boggling.

The point that I'm getting at is in the vast majority of situations, if a head coach doesn't call plays, you don't know what they contribute. That doesn't mean they contribute nothing, that means you, a fan, who is an outside, do not know exactly what is and is not contributed by them. This is normal if you're not one of the arrogant dopes who thinks being a fan means you know everything about the team. You don't.

Who does the gameplan? What people do what parts of the gameplan? Is it done all by one person or broken into chunks? Who designs the full scheme? Who tweaks it? Does someone tweak it? Who does installs? Are they done as a group? Who does what they do in practices? How they practice? Who sets up the audibles? The language? The checks? Route concepts?

You know exactly none of these things. Fans are obsessed with play-calling because it's the thing they can definitively prove, thanks to the cameras showing the person holding the play sheet in front of his mouth. But in reality, there's WAY more that goes into NFL offenses and defenses, and if you really thought hard enough, you'd know that. You really think that the difference between Vic's defense and Sean Desai's defense is only that Fangio is a better playcaller? Stop kidding yourself.

You don't understand what NFL coaches do and don't do well, unless they're quality play callers, or their role has been clearly defined. So stop asking loaded questions - is what I'd say, but I'm sure you'll continue anyway, since confirmation bias.

I just said what Campbell did. He fired his OC took over play calling and had a top 5 offense. Outside of 2 years of elite OC’s in Moore and Steichen, Siri has been out coached when it matters. As an offense, we have had one of if not the most stacked offense in the league. He’s supposed to be an offensive guy. Don’t call plays, fine. But the unit was bad at every level and he couldn’t fix anything. So the thing he’s supposed to be good at, he can’t help in any way.

The difference between Vic and Desai is obviously the ability to develop and coach talent as well as call plays. Who has Siri developed on the other side of the ball? Who has he coached up? Nobody. Nobody has gotten better bec of him. He has been handed studs all over the roster.

I’ve asked you plenty of times what he does well and you haven’t named one thing. I’m done here. Go give Siri a bj since apparently he’s your man.
