If AJ catches those balls then it looks a lot better but I get your point. Our passing game is probably the worst in the NFL. I think it’s a combination of patullo and hurts.

There’s no way KP is back. That’s a done deal

Howie has a lot of work to do this offseason to get this team back to where it needs to be and to make some difficult decisions on some of these veterans. I don’t see how they can bring back this OC. There was just no continuity to the play calling or offensive flow. Play development, and playcalling was out of sync all season. The scheme was so basic the 49ers sent guys out there who haven’t played all year and still figured it out. Time for the Eagles to invest in a new OC. One that can stay around for a while.

Can someone explain to me how they trade AJ with a pre-June 1 trade dead money hit of almost $43 million?

They ran it into Cover 4. That play was dead at the snap. Maybe you throw a jump ball up to AJ, but I can understand why Hurts wouldn’t trust him and instead Goedert even if it was into triple coverage.

In general, that performance was the epitome of the Eagles org this year. Periods of looking good with periods of the WTAF are they doing (across all phases). The negatives will be correctly dwelled upon because you see other teams with a sense of freedom and this team has been a little tense and staid. The no fun Eagles.

But as I've said a couple of times. This org performs better with a chip on its shoulder. I can't see anyone internally being pleased about the season; now its a case of who gets fired and when.

Although I think that's also serious hyperbole and just recency bias. The 2022 (early 2023) path was WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY easier just by nature of having the one seed alone, not to mention playing the Giants, and then the 49ers with exactly 0 QBs. I think people forgot how easy of a coast that was.

Here's the blatant truth. And Eagles fans need to swallow this pill. They probably weren't going to truly evolve the passing game, without the run game, without either one of two things:

1. Evolving Jalen Hurts as a passer.

2. Throwing out the scheme for the express purpose of making opponents re-scout you.

I know people wish they would have done #2, but frankly almost no one does that, especially for the exclusive purpose of expecting the run game to be garbage. But the question remains: Is Jalen really the type of QB that can evolve into a drop passer that can shred defenses? If he can't, what exactly is he to us now that he's getting slower as a runner? Does this means we need to provide him with Shanahan level scheming? Can we even get someone like that? Would it be easier to change QB?

I think there's a lot of questions if 'evolving the passing game' is on the table. One person I think might help is Daboll. Known to be QB friendly, history with Hurts, frankly if he can't do it, few people probably could, plus he doesn't have to adapt to scouting the NFC East because he's already been here. If Daboll isn't getting a HC job, we should be the most attractive organization by far unless he doesn't want to coach Hurts again. Similarly, because of said history - if the requirement is still friendliness with QB1, he fits it, without having any need to stick to what the scheme has been like now. Supposedly his big weakness was in game management, which is helped here by him not having to do that, and having Vic around.

Sounds to me like a pretty nice fit for both sides.

In the cold light of day, this team was never repeating. KP is part of that, but you can list a bunch of things that are out of kilter (Ol, TE, etc). Patullo is gone; I don't think any HC has the sway to keep their OC in charge after that. Its no hill to die on, let alone with a crop of players like the team has. Be smart

But let's be clear, the OL has been a simmering bin fire all season; Mailata started injured and has been ok later in the season, Dickerson has been walking in concrete for weeks, Jurgens has been very poor and Lane has been injured again. Would that OL have held up for another month? I doubt it; its been on fumes for weeks.

Etc, etc.

Yep, I agree.

Re Hurts, he has never been one of the best passers going back to college but he he been effective and a winning QB because of two other things in his game: top-tier intangibles including elevating his play in the biggest moments and how he impacts the D as a running threat.

We all agree that KP / scheme was the biggest issue this year but I think the 2026 season is a big one for Hurts. It will be important to see him play better under a more competent OC.

He has now been bounced out of the playoffs in the first game in more seasons than he has won a playoff game in. It’s true that he has had his best games in the two Superbowls but his play in the three playoffs losses has been very ordinary.

We need to be open to the possibility that 2022 was an outlier season (with 2024 primarily driven by a historical running game). If Hurts truely does not want to run much (should reconsider that approach in the off-season), I don’t think to date we have seen him take sufficient meaningful strides to develop as a passer who can succeed without being a threat as a runner. The play calling didn’t help this year but if it happens again under a new veteran OC, the questioning will get louder

I wouldn't be surprised to see him get an extension. I'm sure he'd rather play out the year and go be THE guy in 2027, but you never know.

If the strategy is to continue to have Hurts be the QB of this team, which I don’t see them moving off of, then the number one priority has to be the offensive line and getting the run game back to the level that it was last year. Or at least somewhere close to it. I think Barkley and Bigsby is a great combo for next year and I wasn’t as down on Saquon as some were this year. I think the offensive line did him zero favors and he was hit behind the line of scrimmage nearly every other snap.

Not could have, SHOULD have. Of course we have to assume he makes the FG to go to OT, but he cost the Eagles games this year. Looks like a deer in headlights out there.

Eh, that's his own fault. He should have stayed retired. Last year was the perfect ending to his career. Not mad at him for coming back, but it just didn't make sense. BG playing 7 snaps a game was not putting this team over the top. Nothing was going to overcome the shortfalls on offense. NOTHING.

What blows my mind is the way they try to force the ball to DeVonta. I LIKE that they tried to get creative with him, but it NEVER works. He's not a sweep guy, he's not a screen guy. They lined him up in the backfield, but just kept him there. Line him up in the backfield and motion him out. DeVonta coming out of the backfield is already an uphill battle. This team can't block on the perimeter or screens.

YES, get the ball to DeVonta. Just be smarter about it.

The thing is and last night was a stark illustration, this season the offense has sometimes needed someone to just steam downhill and hit the Line hard, which Bigsby does rather than someone to turn up and wait for a hole to open as sometimes Saquon does. Don't get me wrong the interior line has largely sucked in run block this year I wouldn't argue otherwise, Jurgens should have been benched by week 8 and told to recover properly, but there have been clear instances where Bigsby has taken the yards available better than Saquon.
