EMB Blog: 2025 Regular Season (Part 2) ... and Playoffs

Featured Replies

I'll chalk up that 4th down call to a Siri bone head mistake trying to be aggressive. It was really bad. And so was the play (Patullo, Hurts, whoever).

There were plenty of other dumb offensive decisions & play calls too.

Siri as CEO Head Coach is fine.. with an experienced Offensive Coordinator. We thought he learned that lesson.

Patullo CONSISTENTLY has a problem getting the play calls into the players. And a number of other issues.

The Bills once changed OCs in season and the offense took off.

Seriously: bring in Daboll for consulting.

Did any of you really think Sirianni would give an honest explanation of what happened? Come on.......

He could have just belched or said "Derp,” and made more sense than that explanation…

Anyway - Great "win by the defense”. They deserve the credit for this one.

Any less of a performance from them, this would have been a loss.

Going for it on 4th down there was absolutely the wrong call - we all agree

Analytics agree. Winning goes from 98.6% punting to 93.7% going for it. Kicking a field goal drops it even more to 92.8%. We are very much an analytics organization. I can’t imagine how that convo is going to go with lurie and howie

Either he was pissed at Hurts or was pissed the refs didn't throw a flag for PI, but just the way it looked it seems like he was confused and unhappy Hurts threw that pass there.

Sirianni isn't the brightest, but even he can't be dumb as to throw the ball there. Nothing analytically supports it. Either way, it isn't good. Whether it was his decision or Hurts, not great.

If he is mad at the play that Hurts went with out there then that is on him for even having the offense out there at that point. Hurts and the other players have had success this seasons with plays that Hurts is calling on his own in situations like that. He is a Super Bowl winning QB and 2x NFC Champion, he has that given ability to do that as he has this season and it worked. If you want to avoid that then don't put the offense out there in that situation. No saying that whatever Patullo called was better. That play was an auto first down if AJ made a real attempt to go into the WR to draw the easy flag.

He's done looking at it, now he is going to give it to AJ so he can

The #2 corner hasn't even been that bad the last few games. Now they have some depth.

He was bad the first drive. They didn't target him until the 4th and he looked exposed again.

Right. The chances of a 35 yard bomb TD converting there is probably less than 25-30%. Granted it’s AJ/Hurts maybe a 50/50 ball chance? But it definitely was the "nuclear option” in that scenario.

Worked against WAS (last year?), it was a bad decision then too.

I don't think the play design was bad tonight. I hated the coward's runs and draws tonight, but I'm convinced that is just as much Sirianni as Patullo at this point. Hurts was worse than Patullo tonight. He had AJ wide open missed him, missed Calcaterra, was lucky he didn't throw a couple picks with some of the passes he made. Not the best Hurts game. Also Lane being out affected things as well.

Patullo mostly sucks, but Hurts was definitely bad tonight. And that’s with me giving him a pass for his fumble. Great punch out by Cooper.

AJ Brown is the 2nd best WR on this team. He is lashing out at the reality of this with his disinterested effort at times.

Neither here nor there, but I thought Patullo dialed up a helluva play call on that fake pitch to Barkley that Hurts missed to Calcaterra. Awesome call. Hurts has to hit that.

Also had a nice wrinkle. He had been lining up Latu as an offset FB with Barkley set deep behind Hurts under center. They handed off to Barkley every time.

In the second half on third and short, they lined up Bigsby as the deep back with Barkley as the up back. Hurts then slipped the ball to Barkley for an inside run while Bigsby was simulating the play going outside.

Eagles edge snaps vs. Green Bay:

Jaelan Phillips: 52

Jalyx Hunt: 43

Nolan Smith: 18

Brandon Graham: 8

(Jihaad Campbell played 32 snaps, don't have edge/inside breakdown)

Smith made them count. Bizarrely, he started the game and got snaps at the end with a huge drop out in the middle.

I bet Campbell had some edge snaps.

Absolutely, they get game ball. Thought Vic got way too conservative on that GB td drive. Love can't handle pressure and the only receiver you to worry about was Watson. Thought he would turn it up once they crossed midfield

He keeps this up then Howie has gotta re-sign him. I hope he enjoys being part of a contending team after spending his career so far in the purgatory and non-serious organization that is Miami and takes a fair offer to stay without trying to break the market as best he can.

Love the optimism there Skippy. Its a week to week league. This team can beat the best but also lose to the worst. I do like the way you think though :)

They need to get better and more consistent on offense or they can drop a playoff game they should win.

Injuries are a big part. They are getting healthy now. Green Bay is banged up. they just lost a 1100 yard 12 TD TE

Its not that I don't have the ability or reasons to rage about the offense play tonight. I'm just choosing to put it in a drawer and know I can pull it out again next week.

This was BTA level defense.

Lane dodged a huge bullet.

I am genuinely happy about the result even though it was a far too painful to watch.

Meh, they gave up 7 points and Jackson was picked on more than that. He made a few plays that caused incompletions and had a key stop behind the line of scrimmage.

OK the stats are nice but I have to call out that pass rush chart. I didn’t know these were a thing and that’s got to be the most absurd graphic. It’s a bunch of lines. Because that what DL assignments are. And some are colored green. I think they can keep those limited to QB pass attempts and WR routes.

I hated going soft there, as it resulted in a TD and might have gotten Love into rhythm who was DOA otherwise.

I believe enough in this team based on past winning and last season. Siri won't make that mistake again. Many teams are trying too hard to be aggressive or listen to "analytics."

The defense is solid, despite some shaky moments. They will do their part.

The offense has talent that lacks leadership from the OC and by some extent Siri.

This was after a bye. Patullo was petting Siri's dog too much, get your head focused! 🤣

Decent chance we don’t win this game without his performance.

Kudos to him …and Howie for getting him on this team.
