yes

I could potentially see the league AND the NFLPA trying to wedge in here somehow...anyone know if this has ever happened before? I would think it has...This many trades into the Tampering/FA period probably hasn't been seen before though.

I don’t. Before this year teams couldn’t even TALK to players in the tampering period. All the deals were agreements with teams and agents (and rare occurrences when a player is representing himself without an agent). They just changed it this year that teams could talk up to 5 players for one hour each through zoom. And the rules made it clear that nothing can be official until the start of the new league year. I just don’t see what there is for anyone to enforce verbal/handshake agreements.

Waiting for the "Eagles were frontrunner for Trey Hendrickson before the Ravens backed out of the deal and land the top free agent" tweet tomorrow.

No, but in all serious I do think they probably sign Chubb or maybe swing a deal for Greenard.

If Goedert doesn't re-sign by tonight given his contract thing, does that lessen the chances he stays?

Wonder if Crosby's knees are shot

If the Ravens backed out of a trade that big due to medical concerns that could really destroy Maxx’s value.

(Captain Obvious I guess)

Especially with a failed physical that usually terminates any trade

Possibly

Dejean will be a safety. Everyone just accept it. Will there be a pass rusher available at 23 better than Smith Hunt, doubtful.

Eagles going OL and WR/TE first 2 picks. Bank on it.

I could see them going QB before any position on defense in rounds 1 and 2.

I said this leading up to the draft he could be a great safety, so I'd be fine with it. I do not however, want him at outside CB. But luckily it looks like that door is now closed.

I'd like to see the edge (some cheaper vet), WR (keeping AJ), CB (Woolen) now reduced to elite athlete/upside mid-round picks that can be patiently developed rather than reaching for arguably even lower upside, but better, more expensive prospects in rounds 1-2. And as this draft would have it, the mid rounds hold just that for these positions (but they are frankly less exciting in the early 20's).

That can always be counteracted by ESP saying he hates the signing.

I'm a workout/athlete guy for most positions, but not typically CB, which I often label as a read&react position more than a downhill position. However, extreme speed does help with recovery. Not needing to recover in the first place helps even more.

That said, I LOVE the Riq Woolen signing. Young, upside, extreme athleticism...and pretty darn good coverage metrics. But maybe most importantly:

All CBs, even the elite of the elite (Surtain, Q, Sauce)...they can be beaten. (Just ask Q about the 1st quarter of the 49er game). When you get the elite island aura is when you have an elite CB on a defense with adjacent holes in the secondary and the discrepancy results in them being completely ignored. (Even Asante reached this point one year with us). For that reason with Q and Coop orbiting 2/3 of the WRs on the field, Woolen will get targeted a lot. And he's a freaking playmaker. If your secondary becomes a funnel for the opposing team to target the guy with a knack for INTs, I'd say that's a bigger problem for the other team than it is for us.

That’s the hope. The downside is Woolen has penalty issues, so the profile of targeting Woolen is a bit boom or bust for both sides.

For some reason it works with the eagles — he was flipping out about Hurts, Carter, etc.

I know it's draft talk during FA, but @HazletonEagle really got me hooked on Zavion Thomas. A WR with experience as a RB, who identifies as a RB with the ball in his hands, who loves motion, and has 4.28 speed...and projects to cost a mid round pick.

That kind of seems like a dream fit for what we hear this new offense is supposed to want to do.

There’s no contract. They had an agreement in principal. Frank Gore backed out before official. Others have changed their mind before official too. The deals not official and there was nothing submitted to the league, so why not?

A player contract is different than a trade. Contracts have to be signed to be enforceable. A trade is an agreement between teams. I think both sides have to submit the agreement but I am not sure that a team can just back out without reason.

Sounds like Jamar Chase (the rb identity part)

To be fair, Chase is/was just on another planet as a WR prospect in terms of production, skill, route tree, etc. (He was on a different planet than most). Zavion Thomas is maybe more Percy Harvin, Paris Campbell, Kadarius Toney, Tavon Austin (not all studs here)...but those WRs with huge speed who didn't necessarily fit a prototypical WR mold but were YAC/RB hybrids.

But I think this offense has a specific role for that.

A guy I like in the late rounds is Kendrick Law. He’s not a 4.2 guy but has good long speed, he’s fantastic after the catch with both elusiveness and the strength to break tackles, has excellent hands, and is an enthusiastic blocker and special teams player.

Cowboys about to land Crosby for a conditional 4th.
