Well, the are very similar to hot routes, in that blocking and playcalling and scheme are completely irrelevant and the only factor is how fast a QB can throw it.

For example, it really doesn't matter that there is an unblocked passrusher on half of our throws, Hurts should be able to turn his back to the defense and still sense where everyone is and throw accordingly. It's what Philip Rivers did, which is why he is a sure fire HOF and champion.

What are hot routes? Is that when you aren’t allowed to scan through your progression and must miss wide open receivers constantly?

No, it's reality. You can make any statement you want, but over the last half decade nobody has been drafted and is better than Hurts has been winning big games. Williams at times, but mentally the dude cries in his mom's arms. Purdy is a system guy. Daniels? No. The reality is you get someone as good or worse than Hurts. That doesn't mean he's QB for life, but they have a good roster. You build around him this offseason and see what happens and draft one in 28 if one lands in your lap. Get an edge, CB, etc.

People here like to complain about him, which I get because he has flaws, but it's coming from a place of being spoiled and not realizing what we have.

The part that's sunk cost fallacy is the fact that there's like a million asterisks attached.

IF the defense is good
IF the OL is good
IF the WRs are great
IF the running game is excellent OR Hurts is a good passer for the year (almost never)

Then, you can win with him. That's great, but it's still sunk cost when you're comparing against question marks because it may not require as many asterisks, you just don't know yet, right?

This is just my philosophy. Big games are important but they're not alone how I define QBs, because you have to get there first. If it was alone how I'd define QBs, then I'd have to say I wanted Eli Manning over every QB of his era not named Tom Brady. I'm not saying that.

Right. The guys constantly crying about Hurts aren't the dramatic ones, it's me.

You guys literally think Nick is scheming up all these hot routes and sight adjustments and Hurts is just ignoring them because reasons.

We better see McKee hit like 15 hot routes today, or I'm good to start believing that maybe the coaches are morons

What do you mean? They apparently never talk about the guy. Amirite @HazletonEagle ??

Stroud is having a hell of a game

He and the CAR qb are both showing a little more this year thus far, surprising after the way they looked last year.

Credit to Cj stroud looks good so far this year. They are 1-4 but really some of that is injuries and their defense hasn’t been nearly as good as years past. He has 0 INTs so far this year (naturally he will now throw one). But he’s been regressing badly the past couple years and now looks solid to even good.

Good thing we got the QB coach during his regression years on staff. 5D chess

Everyone return your Christmas presents you got for @HazletonEagle Hurts is on IR. He is set for years

In those years the OL was very good at picking up the blitz, Jalen had the escapability and mentality to try to make big plays with his legs when they didn’t, we had the targets on the outside to reliably catch the deep ball. We could even just kill to run to get a decent gain. Hot reads might have just been relegated as a needless complication. It was very frustrating on days where we couldn’t run away with it and the weather particularly messed with the deep ball accuracy.

Oh in all those years? In 2023 we were good? He had escapability in '24 that he lacked the two years prior? "Hot reads" were needless when he struggled against the blitz? What are you even talking about. I swear this place gets dumber every day. lol

I mentioned this earlier in the week, when you kind of look at their offensive coaching staff, it’s a bunch of guys that got fired from other places where really things went poorly. Kuper was a poor offensive line coach and essentially just let go. Grizzard got fired from OC at Tampa’s after a year and their passing game stunk. Johnson basically saw stroud get worse over his time with him as Qb coach.

Credit to Aaron Moorehead his wide receivers are actually improving. It’s not just aj and smith and nobody else doing much

I think all the hitches and verts consternation was willful ignorance… those route designs were tailored to the QB and what he does well.

I feel so much of this stagnation falls on Jalen. He doesnt feel a need to change anything other than run less. There is no flipping way six years in not a single coach tried to make him better or gave him easy route concepts that most qbs learn year 2-3. I refuse to believe the coaches go out of their way to do nothing for his development for that long. One coach, sure. His entire nfl history, people are smoking Crack if they believe that

type of cruel humor the Texans kicked off with 8 seconds left in the half and kicked it into the end zone

The offense was good enough in 2023, just not as good with the RPO tamped down to overcome the defense. What are you blathering about?

There has to be some semblance of a running game today.

Still expect the Eagles to show some fight today

I was reflecting on this earlier. The match is being played at the Stade de France, in St Denis, a migrant heavy area of Paris. And most migrant areas of Paris generally riot more than not.

That said, I assume Macron will realise the implications of moving the match, so it will be secure and the issues should go for week or two.

"On time" is for losers. I want a QB who's throwing it ahead of time.

I don't want to hear any excuses about unblocked defenders or pressure on over 50% of the drop backs. The QB should be able to account for all of that, easily.

It's not a team game, it's a heroes game and that's what we need

Hurts hasn't been

You started talking about the centers handling line protection calls instead of Hurts as a reason for poor performance against the blitz and ended up referencing "the RPO tamped down to overcome the defense" (whatever the hell that means) and you're asking me what I'm blathering about?

I don’t like it either. But out of the entire offensive unit, they’ve been the only ones that actually done anything that I could say is relatively average. Wicks and cooper have been good. Even lemon has shown progress the last couple weeks.

It may also be that the Eagles made it look so bad in other units that his doesn’t look nearly as bad anymore.

46 minutes ago, Waiting4Someday said:

For most of his career Kelce /Jurgens would set the line protections and I believe Jalen was coached to trust that the blitz would be picked up or if not run. Why miss out on the chance for a chunk play when you get telegraphed 1v1 coverage on AJ or Smitty, right? We’ve been talking about hots for YEARS, but the play just seems to proceed as called for acceptable results on average.

Whole new ballgame nowadays…

When kelce retired he took it over.

yeah and it shows lol. no one talks about how much kelce handled at the line.

So you either need an elite QB or a good team. Nobody elite has come out the last 5 years and usually you are picking 1 or 2 to get one. That again points to what I'm saying. Build the team with a high pick vs taking a mid level QB high. You have a QB who can win already. Don't blow a high pick on that draft class.

Today Sirianni might be coaching for his job. It has to be an enormous gut punch for the team to lose the way they did last week and then have everything with Jalen on top a few days later.

I honestly don’t know how the team responds. I can see it going either way.
