Yeah I hate January. All these people who start New Years resolutions and it lasts a month or two at most. There should be an interim "prove it" gym. Go to that for 6 months, train properly, show gym etiquette and then you can be considered for a proper gym. 

It is the little kids that make me laugh. They come up to you asking if you're nearly done. I'll be done when I'm done mate. They then hang around until you are finished (rather than going to do something else) do one set and move on.

Just did a good session. 

Day 1 Push:
5 x 5 incline bench @ 67.5kg (2 @ 65kg)
5 x 5 strict press @ 47.5kg (1 @ 50kg)
5 x 10 tricep press @ 20kg
5 x 5 DB flat bench @ 26kg p.a.
5 x 5 seated chest press @ 52kg

7 min amrap 7 box jumps 7 pull ups = 10 rounds + 1

Will do a little 5km jog in a while.

Nice!  I need to start adding strength training to my routine.  Been focusing on the cardio to get back in shape.  Been making good progress there but need to get to lifting weights again.  

My workout this morning

Great work bud. 

Weights are such a good way to burn fat so definitely get back in to it if that's what you are trying to achieve. 

I'm doing a 8 week strength cycle followed by a 8 week muscle build cycle. Then I'll deload for 2 weeks.

Thanks!  Yup I know I have to add it in, I keep pushing it off going "I’ll start lifting next week” lol

Haha always the way. Defer to next week or defer to tomorrow... 😉

For me, lifting is the easy and fun part. 

Doing cardio though? Ugh. Boring. :sleep:  I would  just rather keep my diet in check.

I put my cardio bike in front of the TV and just play Xbox. 40 mins flies by

After a point in age you have to do all of the above (at least I do)

Oh sure, I agree with that. I do do cardio, just not too much. LOL. Treadmill or Elliptical or Peloton Bike, for no more than 40 minutes, that's about the point I get extremely bored. (I will be 50 years old this month :meh:)

Hey new gym peeps....We all know you're just going through the motions of making a feeble attempt to fulfill your half hearted new years resolution. Regular gym goers dread january through march when the place becomes clogged with large, stupid, unmotivated people who sit on all the good machines and watch tik tok videos, and then go walk on the treadmill at .00000003 mph for an hour while holding on.

This is so accurate. Except it missed the "...all the good machines whilst watching tik tok videos and posting insta posts about your mega workout".

PSA -- I have nooooooo problem with new people working out and having fitness/lifestyle change goals. That's awesome stuff. Good for you and good luck! 

 

15 sets for shoulders and then 40 mins on the treadmill. Decent workout. 

I am grateful that I can get into the gym around 4:30 pm everyday. It seems to becomes a circus/freak/clown show starting around 5:30 pm. And we have to now wear masks again. Ugh!!

So true and so frustrating. Look it is good that people decide newc year, fresh start let's get healthy etc. But these people don't train properly and they make the gym so so busy!

Absolutely yeah no doubt about it!

That's the irritating part, the newbies and idiots are in the way! Use the machine or bench or cable,  do your sets, then move on. Frustrating. And don't try to use 3-4 different  things at one time! It's too crowded for that crap.

Saw one jackass sit on a bench in the dumbbell area for like 30 minutes and all he did was talk on his phone. LOUD too.

Finally got a chance to run outside today. Snow and ice have made it impossible for the past 2.5 weeks. I ran on the treadmill a few times during the hiatus, but running on the treadmill is nothing like running outside. Took me a few hundred yards to get the feel back today.

12 sets for chest, 12 sets for tri's, 30 mins on the treadmill.

Sprained my foot at basketball this morning.  Thankfully, doesn't appear to be too bad.  Will be out of commission for a few days, but hopefully that's all. 

Strained the ligaments in my lower back so no squats, deadlifts, rowing or assault bike for me.
