Calling him "soft mentally” isn’t very fair. I think the guy is still suffering effects from the concussion he suffered. That doesn’t make a person mentally soft.

If his confidence was shattered due to Hurts being drafted (not to mention him feeling "too much pressure” with Foles on the team) then yes he is mentally soft.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Never said any of that. I said Hurts only looked better because he's more mobile and abke to run. Adding Herbig in the line to replace the turnstile Peters helped create running lanes for Hurts. As far as throwing the ball they were the same. But this wasn't about that, this was about you trying to compare our offense to the chiefs or even more laughable our own 2017 RPO based offense.

Don't take my word for it. Tori Smith says its the exact same offense.

So what you're saying is this year is a wash and he should be benched so that he doesn't get destroyed in 4 meaningless games correct?

At this point yes. However, I will be fine with whatever decision the team makes. The year of covid with no fans in the stands is not real football. Carson was benched because he was inefficient. A good pass rush will do that. Look at Brady, and Mahomes, they lost games when they were pressured. Even a good QB will struggle in the face of constant pressure. Hurts can escape pressure with his speed. So he may be the best answer and in these meanlingless games he should proably start so the most sacked QB in the NFL can stay healthy for next season.

What people forget is that Wentz was really good just last year. This is why I think the concussion has had such an effect. He went from really good, to the worst starting QB in the NFL, with only the concussion and the offseason happening in between. And no, it’s not the people around him, Wentz has been legitimately awful.

Short memory.  He had bad stretches last year and fans were complaining about him then.  That's when the Josina Anderson report came out about Wentz, people argued he favored Ertz too much and then when the WRs and O line started getting hurt it was an easy excuse.  Then they faced weaker teams and rallied around scrub WRs and the idea of fighting with your backs against the wall and Wentz played better.

Every broadcast now and the sports talk shows are showing the graphics that Wentz' stats have all been average since the SB (since Reich and Flip left).  Each season fans have complained about him being streaky, up and down, hero ball, bad mechanics, bad footwork, bad pocket awareness, over/under throwing guys.  People wondered if his head wasn't right in 2018 coming off injury and watching Foles win the SB and have statue erected to him (and a player shrine in the locker room).

It's not just this year, and it's not just the Clowney hit.  it's been 3 years of up and down after a great first 2 years.

Google.com is there for you.

have you really never heard Doug mention the offense is not the same as 2017?

And the excuses just keep coming.....people like to leave that part out about it being very garbage at the end of the year.....

If people on both sides of this argument can’t see that there’s a drastic difference between Wentz last year and this year, then I don’t know what to tell you.

Yeah his direct quote was "the offense will be a little different" and we are "enhancing" it. That's a far cry from  "it isn't the same offense". It is. Your argument is that Doug has come up in the same west coast offense he ran as a QB, as a QB coach, as an OC, then a HC, then won a super bowl with it and decided to scrap it entirely? Really? That's you're argument? Holy ish dude. Give it up.

I never said he doesn’t run a west coast offense. We ran more RPOs in 2017 with wentz and then with Foles. The RPOs are part of what made wentz so good that year. We hardly use them since that year.

and holy ish stop being a cry baby because you can’t talk about what’s in the field.

Nice projection bro. You made a stupid argument about a super bowl winning coach running a high school offense, embarrassed yourself, and are now trying to back peddle. I would tell you you to take the L and stop embarrassing yourself, but watching you make a jack arse out of yourself is too much fun.

He is running a high school offense now. It’s not even close to the same as 2017. Do you think we use the RPO as much now or sense? Or do you not understand what’s happening on the field?

So if we don't run the rpo, it's a high school offense? That's what you're going with?  Please continue

Not what I said at all. The two don’t have to connect. We are running a very basic offense without wr routes that scheme people open it’s just line up and beat your man. We also no longer run the RPO which makes our offense completely different than 2017 when we ran it more than anyone in the league.

A lot of teams don't run the RPO anymore because it was figured out and exploited. The niners made it to a super bowl by squashing the rpo. Its  also why the Bears offense went from good to suck. It also requires good route running and we used a first round pick on a WR who is a lousy route runner and he's currently starting for us. No, not running the RPO doesn't make it a completely different offense.

The RPO wasn’t just figured out. It’s been around forever and still works. Hence why our offense has moved the ball when using it this year. And yes not running the RPO does make our offense completely different.

The 100 million dollar back up.
Ya hate to see it.

Carson we wish you the best. Thanks for those 12 good games in 2017.

So with Hurts now starting if the offense sucks Sunday can we  still blame Wentz?

This is the right call. Hurts played well enough at the end of the Packers game to warrant a closer look. For the fans who think Wentz is still a franchise QB, you should be happy with this, too. This will save Wentz from four games of unnecessary pummeling behind our pathetic offensive line in games that won't matter.

Personally, I'd like to see what Hurts brings to the table at the end of this year, then allow both QBs to start with a clean slate in Training Camp. Make it an open competition and allow the winner to start next season.

And here we go...

Yeah we aren't winning anything it just makes sense to see what he can do in any case. I'd be shocked if Wentz isn't the starter next year.
