Jalen Hurts - shoulder sprain injury; expected for playoffs

Featured Replies

Same argument for me as last week.

The sooner we get that "win," the sooner we can stop exposing the rest of our key players to injuries in meaningless games. Last week, in a game some fans ensured we'd win with Minshew, we fell short and had 3 players ruled out along the way. Dallas after last night only needs 1 win to do their part in securing the division. Our opponents are both contending for playoff spots and won't be resting players or quitting.

Hurts gives the Eagles their best chance to win. It's not impossible to win with Minshew, but the Eagles need 1 more win and can't take things for granted.

Doesn’t matter who’s the QB if the Oline can’t block, the WR’s can’t get open, the coaches can’t coach and the GM can’t identify talent.

  • So we had to listen to an entire week of "He runs too much".   What will the talking points be this week?  Jalen and this Team can win in multiple ways.  Stop trying to put him in some box where he on

Dress Hurts. Start Minshew. If it's not wrapped up by the half, put Jalen in.

I actually like this.  If we end up losing and Hurts plays in the second half at least he got his feet wet and would 100% ready for the Giants

No, they do not.  That is why the Steelers were fined 75K a couple years ago.  You have to report injuries, and you have to report why guys did not practice.

Tom Brady had a "sore right shoulder" for almost three years, according to the New England Patriots.  So take it with a grain of salt. Or an entire shaker.

Sore, and an injury are two different things.

I'm saying they had him on the injury report every week for three consecutive seasons, and he missed a total of (checks notes) zero games.  So there's plenty of gamesmanship afoot with these things.

Minshew should and likely will start Sunday.

And the NFL changed injury reporting because of it.

Back then, they just listed injuries, but not whether or not the player practiced, and in what capacity they practiced.

This is not then, and there is no gamesmanship any more.

The Steelers were fined 75k for violating this a couple years ago.

Yep - that's where I am at. If Hurts can go, let's go and get it done with him. Tunes him up for the playoffs as well.

I don't know I still think he's going to play on Sunday. We need him to.

We are starting to see why running QBs dont last long in this league....

Whatever you say bro.

Says Hurts not starting.

I really hope we win this game, or else we are starring down the barrel of a disaster.

Sounds like they might be open to giving Hurts some snaps next week even if we beat NO, which I'm okay with to avoid a 5 week hiatus.

Starting to get really concerned after a great season. Even if Minshew wins a game to get us the first seed I'm worried the rust and disruption of chemistry will show up in the postseason. Having a QB that is part time running back isn't the best thing...

I hear ya about rust, but we have a lot of players with injuries so I’d much rather risk some rust on players vs all the current injuries.

Crap.

We are actually starting to see more running QBs get jobs in this league. Just like non-running QBs, some will be durable (like Eli Manning) and some will be often injured (like Aikman, Garoppolo). Talent and success will determine career length, but the average QB career length (4.4 years) is usually exceeded by running QBs like Vick, Steve Young, Newton, Jackson, McNabb, Elway, Cunningham. Some people just want to blame the running for injuries that are common whether QBs run or not.

Hurts runs a lot more than most QBs except maybe Jackson. Running on pass plays is a great asset, but all the designed RPO runs adds a lot of risk.

I’m getting worried about the game Sunday.  A loss Sunday really makes an epic collapse all that more realistic because I don’t trust them beating the Giants the final week unless they have nothing to play for.

The Saints are trash. They’ll beat them with ease even with Minshew starting.

Every snap a QB plays where he doesn't hand the ball off is a risk. Hurts has more runs, but less pass attempts. So the risk per play is on par with most QBs. Jim Everett perfected the only  safe QB play --- the self sack:

We just saved 5m$+ annually on his extension this spring. His agent plops that MVP on the table and he can name whatever price he makes up.

im guessing his number drops from 53m$ annually to 46m$ because of this
