I say you now go D R1 (unless Pitts falls) with Horn/Surtain/Parsons and go Bateman/Toney/Marshall R2.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

70 - Jamin Davis, LB

84 - D'wayne Eskridge, WR

I'd be OK with this after the 1st two days.

I don’t hate it. I don’t think Moehrig is still there at 37 though.

I like Rob but I don't know about that report.  The only loss I really hold against Hurts is the Cowboys game.  Cardinals game he was going toe to toe in a shoot out with one of the most talented offenses in the league in a building we have never won in before and he had us in it right till to the end until the time ran out on the clock.  Redskins game Doug threw it in the 4th and Hurts didn't have a chance to try to win that game in the 4th against what was a completely dead Redskins offense at that point.

What was the original Ian Rapoport tweet before he rephrased it?

Eagles wanted to trade to 3, but only if Wilson was assured to be available.

Not a chance in hell Bateman makes it to round 2.

This kid looks pretty good.  Potential sleeper in the 3rd round.  He also doesn't stand out to me at all compared to other WR in the draft.

No thank you, I'm not a fan of drafting guys who are 24 already.  Sounds petty but I want my rookies to be 21-22.

What was it rephrased to? I only saw the report that they wanted to trade up for Wilson. Didn't see the other report

Well.....ITB has been saying the WR room does need a vet.........

If it makes a difference, Eskridge is kinda new to WR.

I’m typically against over-aged prospects too, but Kupp and McLaurin were also old and are pretty good.

Then he fits in with the drafting of players who are still learning how to play their position.  Maybe by the time he's 27 he'll be ready to produce as  a WR.  He'll be an Eagle.

For sure, not saying they can't be good but you look at a rookie who's 24 instead of 21, his 2nd contract is going to be when he's 29 instead of a guy who could be getting his 2nd contract at 25.  Just not a good use of resources when you're rebuilding.

Van Jefferson was a guy last year who was said to be a plug and play savvy pro ready WR.  Only ended up with 20 catches, coincidentally, his biggest game was against the Eagles but he goes in to year 2 25 years old and that "pro readiness" was worth 20 catches.

Carson was an old rookie.  It's one of my gripes with Andre Dillard.  Mailata is younger and with more experience now.  Dillard is 26 and we have no idea what he is.  Man, Danny Watkins messed me up ha.

Is that coming out before or after they supposedly tried to move up to #3, but thought that it wouldn't be good enough to land the different QB they really wanted.

I am sure they looked at everything.  First off, I believe the original tweet was clarified. Second, if true,  basically they view it as a two QB race this year at best.  Let’s say they thought the Jags would pick either Wilson or Lawrence and one of the other or both they would think was an upgrade over Hurts.  Then definitely, they should ask about a pick to get that player.  Always upgrade.  Folks forget about Walsh and Aikman.  Johnson actually thought he was upgrading from Aikman.  Look what the Cards just did.  Third, sounds like the Eagles didn’t entertain it very long.  It is like they view Hurts as #3 pick worthy in this draft.  If Hurts can trust the protection a bit more and consider the progression a bit more, he may just succeed. If I was Hurts, I would have a chip on my shoulder as to Tua and even Mac Jones.  So if I was Hurts, I would look at the original tweet and Joe Flacco as both challenges and maybe, just maybe, unlike frail participation trophy Carson and more like Tom Brady, rise to the occasion.  So I would look at this as they value me but I have more to prove.  If I do that this year, next year they are loaded to spend that wealth to better my support.  And BTW, five picks in the first 125 is not too shabby either.   Hurts should also think that at the end of the day the coaching staff and front office chose me over Carson.  So I view this as tacit support for Hurts to show he can be the man.

I think at #12 it’s CB.

I think at #12 or whatever pick we end up with, it is BPA.

The second contract would be as a 28-year-old, giving you three more productive seasons.

I’m not letting that stop me from drafting a guy in round 3. Round 1 it’s a much harder discussion.

Oh believe me I know that’s a pipe dream. Marshall is my realistic target, and fits what we need at X anyway.

I think Van Jefferson was over drafted and went to a bad landing spot. He crushed it in camp, but they desperately want a vertical WR to space the field for Kupp and Woods. When he was picked I thought it was because they were going to move on from one of Woods or Kupp, but then they extended both. Just a bad pick for them.

So sad for this idiot that he doesn’t understand the dynamics of talent attainment in the NFL.  Maybe you should go back into journalism if this is the best that radio can offer.

It’s hard to believe we got a future 1 to move from 6 to 12 but a jump from 13-8 cost only Maxwell and Alonso.

Some thoughts:

Eagles tried to trade up? I'm always skeptical of these reports. I'm sure Howie talked to every GM ahead of him, gauging the cost of trading up, but that may have simply been to establish what he should ask to trade down - i.e., who was willing to deal and use that information. The media jumps on every conversation as a done deal. Howie is going to talk to everyone about every player on his roster and a number of players on their roster. Don't buy into rumors until something substantive is known - and there were no hints of a trade down before it happened.

The organization is conflicted over Hurts? Does that mean the janitor doesn't agree with the office boy? Realistically, they don't know what they have in Hurts, and I doubt they thought they knew at any time in those four games. That's why they play the games.

People talk about draft picks as if they're all of equal value. Draft someone in the 1st rd, you have a higher salary, fifth option year, and hopefully higher upside. So you don't want to draft an overage player. Draft someone in the 3rd rd, you're happy if you get 2-3 starting seasons from them, and unless they "shock the nation," you'll only resign them at the right price, so age really doesn't matter. Draft someone in the 5th rd, you're happy if they're solid depth, and see them in the same light as SFAs and 30+ year old veteran pickups.

Howie will deal Ertz before the draft, he'll take his time, but wants that 4th rd pick. That'll give him #12, #37, 2 3rds, 2 4ths, that's a lot of ammo to move around the first hundred picks and target the players your scouts love.

Dolphins 2021 Schedule: @Jax, @Saints, @ LV, @ TB, @Titans, vs Baltimore, vs Cardinals, vs Colts, vs Panthers, vs Falcons, X2 Patriots, X2 Jets, X2 Bills.

Pretty accurate but I think Howie tries for a conditional pick for Ertz next year.  Something like a four that can escalate to a three.

Until at the last minute he decides to listen to an assistant coach and takes the wrong guy.
