I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Steichen and Modkin are interviewing today.

I hate getting into this conversation cause some take it personal in here but I’m all honesty Sirianni isn’t any more qualified then Duce is.

The reason I think they choose Sirianni is because Duce is a strong personality who would held the FO accountable and Sirianni is more of a company hire.

Dont get that vibe at all

This is a long term plan type of hire. Just like the last three were before this

Why would Duce have been a short term plan of hire?

They obviously didnt feel he had that type of ceiling. Who would know him better??

i dont doubt the players love him. Leaders need to be respected not your friend

I would like to interview Pep Hamilton for our OC position

Again love Duce the player and person but i don’t think his resume states he is overwhelmingly deserving to be a HC. If you want to say sirianni’s doesn’t either then i wouldn’t argue but there eagles value the passing game more than tha running game so getting career year out of Keenan Allen, development of guys like Pittman and tyrelle Williams probably helped him besides being an OC under reich. And he along with reich has shown willingness to adapt to personnel they have in Indy

I was listening to WIP on the drive into work Friday and Ray Didinger was on and he brought up an interesting fact in regards to Sirianni.  He said the season before he came in to both SD's and IND's coaching staffs that Rivers had what for him was a mediocre season and Luck didn't play the previous season.  The next season, after Sirianni was brought in, each of them won the Comeback Player Of The Year award.  Wouldn't a hat trick be grand?

Rivers stats:

GP           comp           att               comp%           yds             YPA         TDs       INTs        long            sacks        fum           QBR

image.png.27e72fe2ccebe2dc349fd279379c6de1.png

Stats I found interesting were Rivers' fumbles went from 13 down to just 1.  Combine that with the INTs and he went from 28 TOs to just 12 while also taking 19 less sacks and raising his YPA to 8.2 (20% increase).

Luck had his highest QBR in 2018 (his final season) and also took the lowest number of sacks in a season with 18.

Oh, and Keenan Allen also won CBPotY in 2017 when Sirianni was SD's WR Coach.

I think it's time that people stop making Duce Staley into what they think he is, and evaluate Duce for what he has been.  Duce Staley was interviewed multiple times by this team for OC and HC, and they didn't hire him... multiple times.  The Eagles were very content to have him as the RB coach, and that's really about it.  In addition to that not a single team outside of the Eagles have ever sniffed at Duce for an OC or HC position.  If Duce were a hot commodity as viewed around the league, he'd be getting interviews, especially because of the Rooney Rule that requires TWO minority interviews for each search.  And he hasn't gotten those calls either.  Maybe, Duce is just not seen in that light because he's been (pretty much exclusively) a RB coach and only a RB coach.   He might be a great HC someday, but obviously something is missing from his resumé.  2011-12 ST quality control.  2013-2020 RB coach. 2018-2020 he got the 'Assistant HC' title, but not the OC title, nor the OC responsibilities, and he was coaching on the offensive side of the ball, where the team was just BRUTAL.

And for the sake of argument, let's look at Sirianni, whom was discussed last year as a guy to watch for the future.  Sirianni has been coaching since 2003.  He came into the NFL as the offensive quality control coach in 2009.  He then became the assistant QB coach, back to Offensive QC coach, then to WR coach in 2012.   Then to QB coach, WR coach, Offensive Coordinator... He's been the OC for 3 years.

The clearest path to HC seems to be through the QB position and OC.   Duce needs to dip his foot into that in order to get some consideration moving forward.   Or even WR coach first.  But, for anyone to think that a resumé of only RB coach for a LONG TIME in the same place is as attractive as a coach who's been a part of multiple coaching trees, and has WR, QB and OC on his resume is missing the direction the league is moving.

I listened to that same interview. It was a good listen on ray’s end. The Keenan Allen thing was i want too say garafolo in an interview talked about coaches raved about sirianni being hard on him and pushing him thy year even though Allen had some success in the past. It really helped him blow up into the map as he had a good rookie season then injuries the next two years and Allen blew up that year. I think it shouldn’t be understated that sirianni has had a good track record of developing WRs and maximizing their strengths. Something the eagles have not been great at recently

He is a complete and total hack and the type of person who gives real journalists a bad name.

Eh, he's not my favorite reporter but I feel very strongly that if his columns weren't always negative people wouldn't dislike him. I've felt that's the way it's always been with any fan base. Fans want to live in that bubble that everything is great and when reporters are negative, fans kinda freak out. Joe Santoliquito got death threats and the front door to his apartment vandalized because of that story he put out about Wentz in 2018. Not because it was wrong, of course no one could disprove anything he reported. Because they just assumed it was because it was negative and didn't want to believe it. Turns out it's looking more and more on point by the day. I feel bad for the guy.

It's the sports culture where fans take it way too seriously and personally.

In terms of sources, I think among the local guys, his sources are among the best. Certainly better than guys like Frank, Zangaro, Berman, Bowen.

The other day he posted a quote he got from someone who knows Sirianni to twitter and everyone freaked out about it. If instead of somewhat negative the tweet said "Really smart guy, hard worker, good coach" no one would have cared. It was only the fact that it was negative that it upset people. I don't like to live in an echo chamber, I appreciate guys like McLane who don't tow the company line and give the negative side of things so we can get the full story.

But if people don't like him that's their prerogative, you don't have to like him.

Yup made this point during the interview process. The eagles value working with the QB and the passing and what background they’ve passing game. Going back to reid to chip and then the process of hiring doug they had Gase and mcadoo who both worked with QBs and strong ties to the passing games over their career. Even doug could be made that he was a QB for years in the league, QB coach and OC. Duce has been a RB coach and Running game coordinator. Was given assistant HC but if caplan and mosher are correct Press Taylor this past year had more responsibilities than Duce.

Say what you want, Brady in the playoffs is terrifying

Press Taylor was the passing game coordinator.  And they threw far more than they ran.  Draw your own conclusions.

There were two callers into NFL Radio last night that said DET should trade Stafford and the #7 pick to JAX in exchange for the #1 overall pick — and they both tried to spin it as though JAX would initiate that trade.

Eagles fans know all about losing to these Fers in below freezing temps in NFCC games. Go Rodgers

Schwartz neutralized him. 🙄

There will be a lot of points scored in this game.

Clearly they are hacks with bad sources. Carson declined to talk to media at the end of the season, that’s clear indication he’s planning on leaving the NFL entirely and playing in the CFL for the Argonauts.

All those people who said Brady was done going back to mid last year..../

LOL

The packers aren’t in this game cause of their defense. Let Rodgers go to work

No he’s just out of touch with the blog. If you listen (I know no one in the blog does) to Philly sports radio there where plenty of people upset Duce didn’t get the job.

theres THE problem, lmfao Philly sports radio.   might as well lsiten to skip bayless and max kellerman. Their job is to rile people up so they tune into their  soap opera.

i dont know any intelligent knowledgeable football fans that listen to philly sports radio, skip or max.
