I feel like the same could have been said about Pederson. No?

Oh man, he's not "super smart." what a letdown.

Nobody wanted the job. I think they thought Reilly was in the bag, but he backed out.

If I'm Duce, I'm leaving.

Facts! Duce needs to leave to further his career!

What makes Leftwich a qualified candidate ??

Yeah I agree. Leftwich has been coaching for only 4 years. Not exactly someone who should be expecting an interview anytime soon.

Idk his offenses have been better...

Last year, Winston threw 30 picks

This year, he had the goat.

Good article

Somebody might wanna let the offensive coordinator of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers know that he’s in charge of calling the plays, because it seems like Byron Leftwich might not be aware.

Tom Brady is one of the NFL’s most successful passers on play-action so far this season, but the Bucs rank among the teams in the league who run play-action the least.

eftwich was asked about this discrepancy Wednesday, and his answer was more that a little puzzling.

"I don’t know, to be honest with you,” Leftwich said about why his offense isn’t running play-action more often. "Like I tell you, we do what we feel as though we need to do to win the football game. We’re not trying to do what everybody else does, what some other teams do best. We’re trying to do what’s best for our players. We understand how good we are at play-action, but it all comes down to being able to run the ball consistently, week in and week out. And if you can do that week in and week out, obviously that always helps the play-action game. Obviously, we can be better at getting more attempts, but it all starts with the run game. We’ve got to do a better job of running the ball consistently, so we can consistently call play-action.”

Duce might be headed to do some Coaching in College to change up the resume. Be an OC at that level, have success, then jump back into the NFL in a few years.

So glad they picked him. Hoping for the best.

Super smart people can way over think things and be horrible with people.

I know there was talk of him interviewing for the South Carolina job before this year.

Kept the offense moving three years in a row with three different QB's.  Clearly he can adapt what he is doing to the QB.  Will not be stubborn and force the QB to adapt to him.

Only thing concerning to me and it may not matter is he didn't call plays in Indy. Otherwise I think good pick.

This screams Lurie finding a young guy that will do as told and not get in the way of what Roseman wants to do during a complete rebuild.

30 picks and still a top offense. Winston is trash.

Brady is literally having one of his best years. But let me guess its the weapons and Leftwich has nothing to do with it.

I also think this also is a sign that Wentz stays. They grabbed one of Fran's guys as the next best thing to Frank himself.

he was going to stay this year anyways. i think they will give the HC a year to evaluate both players and the trade will happen next season.

eric bieniemy will never get a coaching job either...what a great league.

How dare the Eagles not bend to the mob and hire Eric Bieniemy! This is egregious!

Sirianni was not the playcaller but gets the credit lol

maybe if they lost earlier, he might have had an opportunity to interview 🙂

since andy reid, this is the 3rd straight hire of a HC who prefers a visor over a cap.

They could have interviewed him during the Chiefs first round bye...

Nice try

More this sits with me the more something feels off.

but again best hire (most likely) left in a pool of low quality choices.

they were still compiling a list of coaches to interview at that time.

Win a super bowl and I’ll be cool with the hire

I am still a Wentz hater. - but I don't mind the Coach hire. Fix Wentz and prove me wrong.

To go where? Someone needs to want to hire him.

Guessing he stays as the RB coach.

I'm so tired his RB rotation. He sucks at it. Constantly taking out the hot hand for years
