This is one of the reasons we are seeing headlines saying hospitalizations of children with covid on the rise.

And also in the UK, not sure what it is like in the US, we have reduced staffing numbers over the festive period. It is therefore harder to get discharged over Christmas and New Year so the numbers could come down pretty quickly once we get in to the new year. 

First year in my considerable number of years on earth the I remember the flu taking a year off, but hey, that's just me.

I saw a headline yesterday to the effect:  "84 year old woman WITH Covid dies" - no mention in the article of the actual cause of death though.

Riiiiiiiiiiiiiight.  The original COVID test could ONLY test for COVID.  If a physician wanted to test for COVID AND the flu, they’d have to do multiple swabs and send multiple samples to the lab to be run separately.   The multiplex assays can test for BOTH COVID AND FLU on 1 swab.    So instead of having to do multiple swabs and multiple lab analysis, it can be done on 1 swab.

What part is confusing you?

They're saying doctors should use multiplex assays that test for both flu and COVID since flu numbers are spiking again.  Absolutely no part of that suggests that the original tests have cross reactivity. PCRs are like highschool level genetics at this point. It's laughable that you and @Procus are still struggling here.

Fing YES.  COVID is a more contagious novel virus with a higher r0 than the flu. There was also a vaccine for one and not the other at the beginning of the season last year.  Again this is basic stuff you're struggling with here.

Reading the article it sounds like only one version works vs Omicron, Sotrovimab from GlaxoSmithKline, and it is still being supplied by the govt.

But Biden also recently has said that states should figure this out so if FL or TX want to buy the "outdated" version of the antibodies to fight the remaining Delta then they should have the right.

There's an old saying - you can't kid a kidder.  When you have family members who died of cancer, but whose death certificates listed Covid as the cause of death, you know something is upside down.  Colds and flus don't magically disappear for a year.  The rate of infection can go down, but they don't go away.  Stop trying to gaslight everybody.

From what I'm reading, those studies were defective if they tested Ivermectin alone without other essential parts of the regimen like zinc, anitoxidant and an appropriate antibiotic.  Nothing I've seen suggests taking Ivermectin or HCQ standing alone, and indeed, many of the materials state that absent the other parts of the regimen, they'd be ineffective.

First of all there's still no evidence for widespread misrepresentation of COVID deaths on death certificates despite your bishing. Anyone who has ever worked in a hospital and filled out a death certificate would laugh at you for suggesting it.  Second of all neither the flu or typical URI viruses "disappeared".  There were about 700 flu deaths and every single negative COVID test that year for a symptomatic patient was a "cold" virus.

For the flu it's yearly. For the others the first 4 are within about a year of each other. 5th one is age 4 and 6th is age 11.

Like most of your anecdotes, I call BS.

Hospitals aren't paid based on what's on the death certificate *****.  They're paid based on the diagnoses documented in the EMR. And if a person is COVID positive then yes that's worth noting. It involves a higher level of care, increased PPE measures, negative pressure rooms etc. They absolutely deserve to get more money even if it's only a contributing factor.
