What do we load our kids up with cereal in the morning? lol. I've cut out pop, gatorade, chocolate milk, snacks (sans fruit), etc. Dairy is going to be tough. I drink fat free skim milk like it's water. And I like greek yogurt for a snack. Never did beer/liquor, but beer is another one that they say to cut out. Cardio is getting better now that our governor is like "oh yeah, sun and fresh air is ok now..." . Between working full time, now two kids, and finishing my Master's, I am lucky to get 15 minutes in. But, I did get a rising desk at work, so at least I'm no longer sitting all day long. And with a wireless headset, I can wander and talk to clients. Looking forward to getting the kids on a walk regularly. We did twice this week. +1 on water. That's my go-to beverage now. Appreciate the advice. Try almond milk as a replacement for the skim milk. Luckily I don’t have kids, so blocking out 60-120 minutes a day is no big deal.

We've been face timing with him throughout, he says he's going to New York to get vaccinated (also has a home there) because Germany is still on 85 (eighty Fing five) and over. Yep. My 86yr old mother-in-law just got her appointment for her first shot. She gets it in 10 days. We are WAY behind and it is all a supply problem. The EU put a lot of their strategy on the Astra Zeneca vaccine and they can't get the supply delivered. In Sweden we are 3.3M doses down from what was promised by end of April and for a country of 10M that's a real problem. There seems to be two main issues. First, there is a factory in Belgium that was supposed to produce a major piece of the supply but they've been hampered with the inability to secure one of the main ingredients which is manufactured heavily in the US and I think some in China. Second, AZ had a backup plan to move supply from the US and the UK into the EU but that has been blocked by the US and UK govt not allowing the export. For example, there are 10M doses in the US in storage right now that are blocked even though AZ hasn't even applied for approval in the US.

Over 35% of our country is OBESE and an extra 30% is overweight! You could literally grab a random sample of 10 people and chances are more than half are overweight + . Since I've started researching health outcomes, weight loss plans, exercise techniques, healthy foods, etc. it's really opened my eyes to how F'ed up our society is - particularly the food and agricultural industry. Oh yeah I know. I visit the US several times a year. Fwiw, Sweden is starting to see its fair share of obesity as well. Nothing like the US though.

Besides it being completely irrelevant to the other BS you brought up like vaccines not limiting the ability to spread and changing mRNA that are just flat out wrong, vaccinating only 50+ year olds would be like designating a pissing section of the pool. We need as close to herd immunity as possible before we can put this thing in the rearview mirror. So by all means go out and exercise and eat right. But get your vaccine and wear a mask until this is over too. It's not that hard. I know you're not saying I said otherwise, but I 100% wear a mask indoors, and when interacting with clients at work (we get a few that come in throughout the day for meetings and help). But I don't wear a mask in my own office or when outside. I had to meet a client at a local university and they require kids to wear them OUTDOORS between classes! The world has gone insane! Also, herd immunity for the rest can be accomplished through natural infection. There's nothing inherently wrong with that for low-risk individuals.
March 13, 20214 yr I do not eat much sugar/sweets. I enjoy my morning coffee with the bare minimum of unprocessed sugar (I "dip the tip" of a small spoon, maybe end up with 1/8 tsp) and a dash of milk. My breakfast is usually something like toast, or steel cut oats (from the big canister) with blue-berries on top. no sugar added. When I cook I do go a little heavy on the butter. But I also enjoy eating, and I'll accept the health consequences of some indulgences. What I have too much of is typically beer, and we eat out more than we should. We specifically ate/ordered out more during the pandemic because we wanted to help support local restaurants. Covid has added to my waistline unfortunately. And I have a desk job, which sucks for that. I did recently get an under-desk stationary bike. I have a rising desk at home so all I need to do is get the desk high enough that the knees don't bash it. I do not get as much cardio as I should - jesus Vikas you're like a goddamn machine. I also work too much. Working from home has its disadvantages. 4 minutes ago, vikas83 said: Luckily I don’t have kids, so blocking out 60-120 minutes a day is no big deal. He's down to 1 day a week, and I'm typically working late so my wife takes him

Besides the slight risk of death and the growing evidence of potentially permanent lung and heart damage? Sure. Again we also don't know how well immunity from infection compares to immunity from vaccination. There are many cases of vaccines being more effective in promoting infection than immunity.
March 13, 20214 yr Hey, I know I am insane. I was out of shape in my 30s and decided to get serious about 5 years ago. Quit smoking and started using an elliptical 5 days a week. At the end of 2018, the wifey wanted to get a Peloton. She stopped using it after like a month, so I started so we could get our money’s worth. Got addicted. A little over a year ago, I wanted to get more serious about my diet so I hired a nutritionist and trainer. Now I do 6 days a week on the Peloton. Works for me.

This is all I could find in "moderate" cases. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jamacardiology/fullarticle/2768916 mostly speculative as it was from July. And obviously its going to be extremely hard to find data on asymptomatic cases...

And what are the ongoing costs associated from working with a nutritionist? I have some money put aside that I'd like to invest in my weight loss goals, but also don't really know where to start with regards to a nutritionist.

It is nice to have someone knowledgeable to talk to and devise a plan with.

I'm in pediatrics so my big concern has been multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS-C) which is a Kawasaki-like inflammatory disease seen in some kids with COVID that causes pretty serious cardiac effects like coronary aneurysm. Still only small studies though, this is from 1 center with an n of 24 comparing it to Kawasaki disease (which itself is a pretty Fed up condition). https://www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/circ.142.suppl_3.17092

Your employer did not do the same ?? I'm pretty sure most do, mine does. If you get it or are around someone who does we call HR and they walk us through the process which is based off of state guidlines. I'm not sure why you need to call the state itself to help you with contact tracing at your job. It makes absolutely no sense.

My breakfast every morning is one of those non-fat Siggis yogurts, mostly cause they keep me full with some protein and I like getting some live cultures in.

They'll give you what portions of what you should consume. Hell once you're in a routine you don't need them anymore. 99% of eating healthy is meal prep. I'm basically an egg and slice of breakfast meat on a light english muffin for breakfast. Salad w/grilled chicken at lunch. And a balanced dinner with reasonable portions. Having salads made and menu plan for the week helps a ton. My only downfall is beer. Still even with my beer drinking I manage to stay under 160 mostly based off diet.
March 13, 20214 yr Just keep in mind...after eating healthy for a while, when you have a cheat meal and eat fast food, pizza, etc...you will feel like crap. Not because you cheated, but because it's like your body rejecting the junk.
