Trumpbots: "COVID has a death rate of less than 1%. Nothing to worry about. Stop living in fear!"

Also Trumpbots: "6 adverse reactions out of 7 million doses is statistically significant! This is EXACTLY why we should fear vaccines!"

Unable to think clearly which is why pausing the vaccine will do more harm than good, now they can post on facebook how the vaccines will kill you

They’re pausing the J&J vaccine to make sure there aren’t actually a lot more than six cases...

Meh, these people were never going to take the vaccine anyway.

In both cases, I blame religion.

Sort of. My family is pretty religious. My wife has a cross in every room in our house.  However, we don't see the bible as an literal instructional manual for life or subsequently as a short cut to thinking. I think that's where people get themselves in trouble.

Some of these people need to be convinced to end the pandemic. This will make it almost impossible to convince any of them

Plus to get the word out to anyone who has received it on what symptoms to look for. And also to tell doctors the treatment must be different. Totally reasonable.

Yep.  It's not necessarily religion itself.  It's the nature of many of the people that tend to lean heavily on it.

I'm actually firmly against the left's desire to turn people away from religion.  I think it's damaging and poorly thought out.  What the left fails to understand is that people are mind-numbingly stupid.  They need that guidance and if it doesn't come from Jesus or Buddha or whoever, it'll come from somewhere else, like Trump.  I don't think it's in any way a coincidence that the rise of Trumpism tracked right in line with the decline of religious affiliation in this country.  I'd much rather these people follow the example of Jesus than of a secular grifter.

Sounds very rational, A pause is certainly fine in theory but in the real world it does harm to the vaccination efforts, Sounds like you guys really think highly of the trumpbots to think

Some people use religion in the right way and are guided by its principles. Unfortunately, many more use it in ways that are not only self-destructive but societally destructive as well.  If I were to re-word it, I could say, "I blame religious fundamentalism." There are simply too many people who take these ancient texts literally.

No they pick which parts they like and exaggerate them and ignore the other parts

Yeah case in point, Biden is the most religious president we've had since W, but fundamentalists prefer the guy who raw dogged a porn star while his wife was giving birth.

I mean, at this point I doubt there were many people on the fence. They were either getting it or they weren't.

It will come down to forced vaccinations in the end anyway I guess

That will never happen. Especially with a vaccine that isn't even officially approved by the FDA (only for emergency use)

Well of course you picked the worst possible outcome.

We will be left with forced vaccinations or an ongoing pandemic thanks to the idiots

It will be "40-60%" get vaccinated and a large portion of the rest get COVID to get us to herd immunity. "Forced vaccination" isn't the worst outcome because it's an impossible outcome.

It will not be federally mandated, but it may end up being required by enough employers and privately mandated enough for access to goods and services to push us to herd immunity. That would probably be the least controversial way to "force" it on people. As many on the right like to say, "Let the private sector handle it."

Hardly the worst, watching the Trumpbots forced to get vaccinated should be put on national TV

No, the idiots will just have to get antibodies instead.

Exactly

I was being sarcastic given the guy I posted propensity for always thinking the sky is going to fall and land directly on his head.

That would take too long

Nobody should be forced to get vaccines where the possible long-term effects are unknown. Nobody.

Personally, I trust the science and would stand in line for Pfizer, Moderna, J&J, AstraZeneca, etc. I would never be dismissive of people who choose otherwise.

No the worst would be a glimpse into your outlook of the future.
