More than half of adults in the state have had at least one dose, and in the Seattle metro area that number rises to about 70%.

The country reported 635 more COVID-19 cases, including 613 local infections, raising the total caseload to 128,918, the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) said. Wednesday's figure jumped from 511 cases Tuesday, 463 Monday and 564 Sunday though it is lower than the 701 Saturday. The daily caseload usually spikes after weekends as more people get tested.

Staff from Montefiore Medical Center administered the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine to players, staff and coaches at Yankee Stadium on April 7. However, it’s possible the Yankees’ confirmed positives weren’t vaccinated that day and that they received different brand shots. Not surprised. A lot of athletes opted for the one-shot J&J vaccine over the two-shot regimen, so they could resume normal activities sooner.
May 12, 20214 yr With pressure to loosen restrictions, variants out of control and a possible vaccine in J&J that may not be that great we are headed for a fall and winter worse than the past one
May 12, 20214 yr Ontario and Alberta both say they are no longer using the AstraZeneca vaccine. No idea what's going to happen for those who need the second dose, but there's been talk of them getting a Pfizer or Moderna.

There have been breakthrough cases with all the vaccines. It's a very good vaccine and 70%+ efficacy is amazing for a vaccine.

Still a rather small chance of getting one, but they're pulling the plug because of it and the fact that they have a bunch of Pfizer and Moderna supply flowing now.

Only 7% of the population in SK have received at least one vaccine dose. The surge in Washington is from those not vaccinated - i.e. younger people. They're being hospitalized because the UK variant is the most prevalent there now and it more severely impacts younger people than the original virus, but their survival rates are much higher. It will burn out and spur other youngsters to get vaccinated. Not all, but seeing a buddy hospitalized has a way of smacking sense into people.

By the same token, seeing a buddy contract the illness and then beat it in a few days with minimal symptoms (which is a result that's far, far more likely than hospitalization for young people) might convince them to skip the vaccine entirely. So it's kind of a mixed bag, you know?

That's why you have to hope that the most vulnerable among us are smart enough to volunteer to beta test the new experimental vaccine. The rest should probably just continue to be young and healthy because that all but guarantees barely being affected.

May 12, 20214 yr About 1 in 3 people being hospitalized for COVID now belong to the 18-49 age group, previously a rare occurrence. This is likely due to a combination of factors, mainly the UK variant impacting younger people more severely and the lower percentage of vaccinations among this group.

The hypothetical dude who didn't get the vaccine because he saw how easily his buddy beat it? Yeah, sure. Why not? Have I changed my mind about getting the vaccine? No. I'm still operating on a ten year plan. @EaglesRocker97 is going to check in with me in May of 2031 to share his experiences. If he's completely fine, I'll get one then. 😉 1 minute ago, Joe Shades 73 said: But if the virus is being passed around even if it just among younger people, variants can emerge that threaten everyone Meh, wash your hands.
