Judging by the crowds at the airport and out and about on our vacation I'd say most people are over the pandemic. And not one anti-masker encounter at the airports or on the planes.  I'd also say 95% of people aren't wearing masks at all.  One thing I will say is that restaurants and some stores are really struggling with finding people who want to work.  Lots of staff at restaurants are pulling triple duty.  Bartenders were taking orders, running food and bussing tables in some places.

oh I don't disagree that it's a stupid approach. I made it known here that I believe a better approach would be for the administration to engage with PCPs and if necessary fund some sort of outreach there, have PCPs actively calling their patients and communicate as medical professionals. Even include some outreach to spiritual leaders in various communities to make the case to their congregations. But knocking door-to-door is stupid. And any of this SMS stuff absolutely smacks of overreach and will be played up by the right. Again the left is its own worst enemy.

But that said, the mistakes the Biden admin is making are pretty small compared to the idiocy of the right-wing machine turning its anti-vaxx propaganda up to 11.

yup. I figure it won't be until school is back in session that you see a return to the workforce for many. there are a lot of moms that work in the restaurant service industry, and a lot of those moms are deciding they can hold off until their kids are back to school.

tip suggestions seem to be going up now too. 20% seems like the baseline. my default was same as you, almost always tipped 20% unless the service was pretty terrible. (plus it's easy to calculate 20% lol)

throughout the pandemic I went higher, even tipping on takeout, because these guys were dying. but I don't want to keep tipping like 30% lol
