Yeah, I read that story. Very sad. They were "waiting a year" to make sure the vaccines don't have any reactions. He was also very much obese. Educating people on the fact that vaccines never have reactions past 3 months and that COVID is destroying overweight people might help but I have a feeling people won't listen anyway.

Yeah, if I were a blimp like that guy, I'd certainly take my chances with the vaccine.

Reminder that dodging death or a gurney isn't the only objective with this thing...

We thus postulate that, in people who have recovered from COVID-19, a chronic or permanent olfactory deficit could be prognostic for an increased likelihood of neurological sequelae or neurodegenerative disorders in the long term. The inflammatory pathways induced by SARS-CoV-2 in the nasal epithelium overlap substantially with inflammatory signalling described in subsets of patients with dementia.

An inflammatory stimulus from the nasal epithelium to the olfactory bulbs and connected brain regions might, therefore, accelerate pathological processes and progression of neurodegenerative disease.

Except when he, ya know, hobbled private companies' ability to mandate it for their customers.

Do you think anyone would be able to tell if anti-vax Trump supporters had a neurodegenerative disorder?

I mean, he COULD help that. Leaders lead.

I don't know when we stopped expecting our leaders to tell us hard truths.

It's great that after Delta forced his hand he's starting to press more on vaccines, but waiting until things get as bad as they are isn't leading - it's leading from behind.

In that cohort, the brain damage preceded covid.

Needs the proactive Aussie approach that ishlibs in CVON lauded in this thread:

Now that's what I call leadership!

As always, you just need to read the full report. LINK

If Canada decides to purchase every dose with every drugmaker they have the option to purchase, it will total over 400 million doses. But of course they won't do that. They only need about 80 million doses of two-shot vaccine to vaccinate the entire population, plus potentially some more for boosters. The reason they have the option to purchase more, is if the contract with Pfizer goes bust, they have the option to purchase more from Moderna to make up the lost doses, or from other vaccine makers, etc.

Also, Canada can donate the extra doses they ordered to other countries.

We've talked about this before in this thread, but if its one thing we as a society should learn from Covid its how important exercise is. I have an office job and wasn't moving around much anyway, but obviously when Covid hit, and I was working from home, I noticed how very little I was moving. I gained 15 pounds in the first 3-4 months of Covid. I started walking over my lunch breaks and that started taking the weight off. Now I jog 3 miles a day and the impact its had on my health has been nothing short of miraculous. My weight is down (lost all my Covid weight and then some), my BP is down, my resting heartrate is waaaay down (meaning my heart is working more efficently). This entire epidemic should be a teachable moment for us as Americans to start exercising and taking better care of ourselves.

Completely agree. I mean, I didn't miss a beat because I just stayed in my routine but not being able to have a real conversation about weight in this country has proven to be incredibly dangerous.

I'm getting some real anti-body positivity vibes from this post. Just remember that CVONers come in all shapes and sizes, and this stuff could be upsetting to @VanHammersly
