August 11, 20215 yr This is the weekly update from the facility that I work for. We have had multiple people under 40 die or be on ventilators in the last week. Once they are on the vent they are basically not coming off. On the plus side, they are giving nurses that work in the ER and covid floors $100 an hour bonuses to show up. Traveler nurses are getting $200 an hour bonuses.

This puts herd immunity further out of reach, maybe a year or two away now. It's so much more contagious, I can't wrap my head around it. Basically like an entirely different virus. I'll keep saying it until I'm blue in the face, but whenever someone says we have to treat this like kids getting a bad cold or the flu, I have to point out that the amount we know from a pathological perspective between cold/flu vs covid is massive. Not even in the same universe. And yet there are schools in the south now abandoning reporting protocols for positive cases. Meaning parents in some states will get notified if a child's classmate has lice, but not covid. This ish is F'ing mind-numbing. WTF is going on right now.
