I expect Morey to make a big trade at some point.  Maybe it will work, maybe not.  Either way, they’re not gonna win anything if they’re not full strength.  Embiid needs to be able to play 40 minutes every game in the playoffs.

Only the posters in this thread would try to spin Ben Simmons having a 40-point triple-double as indicative of his serious flaws as a basketball player.

Leave it to me to air my grievances about Ben Simmons and you to **** in and tell me he does good.

Agree. But that's what everyone is frustrated about just saying it in different ways. I think he thinks he plays hard, but if he gave a bleep he would have that determination and drive each game.

There’s a fine line between aggressive and out-of-control though.  You don’t want him driving the lane straight into three guys.

This made me lol a lot.  HAHAHA.  Wish I could see it!

...which is why we need a stretch 4/5 (bjelica?) to help him out when embiid is not on the floor.  ultimately, ben with a non-stretch big (ex: howard) adds another body into the paint that would be there for him to "drive into".

Also agree. But I also mean a drive to win and determination.

I wish we could just combine Curry's offense, Thybulle's defense into Green's body.

And that we could also just launch Korkmaz into the ocean

Honestly if brand and brown werent complete morons they could already have that and not trade for that. The stupidity to sign horford and expect that to work with Simmons, embiid and horford is haunting the sixers. They should’ve went after bojan bogdonavic. He and horford were free agents. If you paid bojan what you gave horford it was still better money spent even if he didn’t live up to the contract. He got 4 years 73 mil. He likely would’ve become a sixers if you offered him more than the jazz at like 4 years 80-85 million. Still wouldve saved yourself 15-20 mil instead of horford. Not only that trading horford and having to give up a draft pick. Legitimately signing horford was one of the dumbest moves in the NBA in the last 5 years and they wasted a year where they had some cap to make a move

Ive said this before, if the sixers fail to win anything in this stretch it’s because they continuously pissed away assets, trading up to 1 for fultz and made boneheaded moves like signing horford

Wasn't last night their 3rd straight defeat? Oh dear things have gone off the rails a little.

Meh....would have been happy with 2 and 2 on this trip but you are facing 4 hot west teams on the road....if anything this is a good thing.  Shows that they need more and that the top record in the East (for now) really isn't good enough.  Hopefully this gets Morey moving.......quickly!

Who do you think they might trade for though?

Morey has been moving.  Doc has been blocking the moves.  Hope Doc is starting to see the light.  It sounds like he is.

Danny Green needs to be on the bench.   If they can’t move Simmons.  Then Tennessee must trade to get someone to take his spot in the starting lineup.  This making the bench that much better.

korkmaz can't be playing 20 mpg...he gives them nothing on offense & kills them on d.  and the defense is brutal when jojo doesn't play.

Thybulle- elite defender, never worked on his shot so he can't start. Sixers should be riding him and keep him in the gym making corner 3s. Most frustrated with his lack of improvement in his shooting.

Green - can shoot, but this is Raptors Green where he rode the bench in the playoffs

Curry - elite 3 point shooter, but not special in anything else

Maxey/Shake - same style of play so can't play them together and not good enough to be the 6th man

Kork - reminds me of Dillion Brooks, thinks he is elite, but just an average ball player and better at 10 to 12 minutes a game.

Howard - 35 and his stone hands never improved. He can't be hidden because the rest of the team can't carry the load

Scott - why bother

A bunch of bench guys that do one thing well and the rest below average.

I’d rather see him play zero minutes. He’s the definition of a chucker. If he gets the ball, he’s shooting. Even if the shot isn’t there.

Seriously, the sad thing is Simmons could do this pretty regularly if he cared to. It’s like he just picks a handful of games each year to really play aggressive.

Agreed, the aggressive edge is the biggest issue I have always had with him. MJ and Kobe hit the hardwood trying to dominate people. Even Lebron has more passion than Simmons, it is so frustrating (and it does not play well in this town). I want the simmons that is hungry to be an all timer, I want angry simmons, I want the simmons we saw list night.

Honestly I have always felt that one primary reason he doesn't take jumpers is because he is so concerned with his image. His fragile psyche prevents him from embracing vulnerability. He doesn't fully invest emotionally, which makes him unapproachable and boring. I have very little feel of his personality, he doesn't seem want to let people in.

He believes he has carefully crafted a positive public image (a really good 2 way star who makes few mistakes), but really he has crafted a barrier between himself and the fanbase. If he truly wants to be an all time great (which is debatable) he needs to:

1) Be willing to make mistakes, its how we grow.

2) Show us who he is, give us that raw unfiltered emotion and personality.

3) Take a friggin jumpshot (his game is so good in so many ways, and I am happy to have Ben on this team. But, a consistent jumper puts him at that next level, and makes us true contenders).

ben felt insulted that they put a center (gobert) on him...so he played aggressive. i wish he didn't need that sort of motivation to play like that..but it is what it is.

I think he was playing Mitchell who thought he should have been the Rookie of the Year

You also see guys on the bubble of the All Star roster starting to show out. Randle, Booker, Simmons, Irving, and a few other guys. Not saying is a correlation, but is funny to see.

[Tom Moore] #Sixers Ben Simmons: 'Been working on my mentality a lot these last few weeks. It's not easy to change the way you play. My scoring's been a lot higher these last 5, 6 games. ... I loved when I saw Rudy was guarding me. I felt it was a little bit of disrespect putting him on me.'

I love how Simmons scores a career high, Mr. Glass misses another game, and everyone in here is ripping on Simmons

This team isn't sniffing a title anytime soon, with EITHER of those players

Will be interesting to see what Anthony Davis does with his Achilles. Durant had a similar deal a couple years ago, tried to play through it and blew it out. If he goes conservative and doesn’t play that changes the title situation a lot as far as who could come out of the west

My only thought while watching Ben's great game last night was wow, if this guy could shoot at all he'd be incredible.

Also expecting Embiid to not miss games is stupid. Honestly if he was playing every game I'd be mad at the sixers. The guy is playing at a level we haven't seen from him yet and is completely dominant. You don't just run a 7 foot guy like that into the ground by making him play every single regular season game for no reason.
