it's pretty f'ing irritating knowing that if we had this Summer Leaguer replace Ben in the 2nd half of every game vs the Hawks this last playoffs we most likely would've made the ECF.  

I appreciate Ben for all the things he does really well on defense. But this league revolves around offense and this "All Star" doesnt want to shoot and is scared of going to the FT line. It has hindered this team to the point that just having any competent guard with zero resume/experience would've been probably more beneficial to the team in crunch time. That is how huge and detrimental Ben's Achilles heel / fatal flaw is to this team. Some real, "only in Philadelphia" crap right there.

Seems crazy to me that they like him that much, yet still drafted Petrusev ahead of him who they are leaving overseas. And Petrusev has a much better skillset fit for the team. The scenario with both of these centers is just weird.

I don't really get it either.  Maybe some of their picks this year are intended to be moved to another team as part of a deal that's been worked out.  Either that or they figure he's never going to see the floor anyway so who cares.

In recent years, the 3rd center definitely sees the floor. Embiid rests, or is hurt Drummons starts and you play guys like Amir Johnson, Toney Bradley, Pelle, Poirer, and now apparently Bassey.

Unless maybe theyll play Reed as the 3rd center instead. Maybe a better basketball decision, but raises yet another question on roster management. 

Say you play Reed as the 3rd center, and Bassey never does see the court. 

   - Wouldnt it have been better to use the Horford trade exception on a 9 million dollar player who would be more useful than Bassey? Or use the rest of the MLE on a player better than Bassey? 

 

If they use the rest of the MLE, wouldn't they be hard capped?  I think Morey is avoiding that so they have the flexibility to take on some money in a big deal, should one come along.

I was hoping they could get a decent rotation player that fit in the Horford TE but then I thought they'd move Danny Green's expiring last year for the same reason and didn't so...

they'll trade paul reed for dame....so they'll need bassey as a backup big.

I think youre right about the MLE. There might be something they can do under a certain amount, and for 1 year instead of 2. But that would end up being less than the vet minimum for a lot of guys for realistically we are done with the MLE.

But that TPE for a useful player rather than Bassey, especially if they dont plan on using him....

Curious what the sixers are going to do with the trade exception of 8.2 mil that expires i think September 9th. Haven’t heard anything on that front either

I think the Hawks have passed the Sixers as the 3rd best team in the East. They are DEEP, versatile, young, and can still package guys for another star.

On the realgm, people are discussing a theoretical 3 team trade between us, Blazers and Wolves.  If you had your the choice, would you take Edwards or Dame?  I know HE's answer.  I know this trade could only happen if Dame were to come here but I was just curious, if we had the choice between the two, who do you prefer?

Dame. 

He still is a Top player in the world right now and the 5th highest voter getter in All Pro Team, but was on 2nd TE because of Steph and Luka. 

KD, Giannis, Steph, Luka, LeBron, Joker, Dame, Harden, AD, Embiid. 

Around that order.
