**Official Philadelphia 76ers Thread 2022/2023 Regular Season*

I don’t get the whole trying to avoid teams in the playoffs either. They need to at least come out of the East or the season is a failure either way. So they’ll have to beat good teams to do that. What does it matter if they get knocked out in round 1 or in the ECF? Either way it’s falling short.

As HE said, if they’re going to lose it would be better earlier than later in terms of shaking things up. A first round exit is likely going to get Doc fired. But if they luck into an easier draw, and make the conference finals before being knocked out? Then maybe they keep him, which would be bad.

If I thought they were really, really good Id like the easiest road possible. Sort of stay rested having some easier wins. Watch tougher teams battle it out in tougher series and hopefully be a little tired, a little more beat up when they see us.

But this team needs to be tested before the summer. It appears as if more massive changes need to be made. And if thats the case, we need it to be abundantly clear to stubborn front office people who will definitely be hesitant to change. Even a 7 game 2nd round might be enough to convince them they can keep Harden and Doc and just work on the bench some more.  Harden with a whole offseason and an entire season with the team will give everyone time to settle in to roles, another year improved for Maxey, improve the bench.... We dont necessarily want them thinking that. Its got to be tested.

"If it happens, great," Embiid said of winning his first MVP. "If it doesn't, I don't know what I have to do. I'll feel like they hate me. I feel like the standard for guys in Philly or for me is different than everyone else."

"I know he's my guy, obviously," Rivers said before Sunday's game. "He just has done so many things."

Rivers credits Embiid for pulling the Sixers through "the Ben Simmons saga."

"He was our second-best player at the time and was out, and at the All-Star break when we made the trade, we were a game out of first place in the East," Rivers said. "There's a lot to be said about that."

"I get to witness his greatness every night," Harden said. "Obviously, his offensive numbers tonight are self-explanatory. Defensively, he was very active blocking shots, changing shots and clogging the paint up was key."

Embiid probably won't even finish 2nd in the MVP voting - the analytics nerds all love Jokic, and Giannis has had a couple of huge performances over the past couple weeks.

I love Embiid, but his turnovers are a problem and will keep him from getting MVP.

he panics and makes himself small when he's doubled. hell, half the time he winds up on the floor.

We gonna lose to the Cavs…

Some BS. Embiid and Harden combined had more free throws than us.

Hope we get Frobley back for the playoffs and get y’all in a 7 game series. All our games this year have been close, but Cavs have never been healthy in any of them I don’t think.

He will never play a game for the Nets.

How is it BS? Embiid gets fouled a lot because nobody can handle him one-on-one without fouling him. If he was fouled less often, he’d just make more of those shots to score more from the field.

What is a "play-in"?

Numbers are similar for Jokic/Embiid. Jokic averages about 4 more assists a game. It's not just nerds. He makes everyone around him better where not sure you can say that for Embiid per day.

Maxey and Tobias Harris both probably would be the 2nd best players on the Nuggets right now.

indy is 6-17 since trading for haliburton...a .260 winning %.  that's compared to .339% before trading for him.

Been my thinking since he began not playing after the sixers game. I don’t think he wants to be in Brooklyn either. I think the nets are gonna trade him to try and acquire pieces or swing for the fences. I’d be surprised at this point if he ever plays a game for the nets.

Some of that is cause Duarte, brogdon haven’t played since March 15 and 18th and turner has been out since mid January.

Since March 20th the pacers are 1-7. Not a coincidence that’s when brogdon and Duarte have been out since. So before those two left the lineup they were at .333 win percent which is nearly identical as before the trade.

I really can't see them doing that, or them getting real assets for someone who hasn't seen the court in over 12 months at that point. At the very least they need him to play some games and show people he actually wants to play.

Numbers are similar, and I think it’ll come down to where each team finishes the season. If it’s close,  voters could give the nod to Embiid if the Sixers can finish with the 2nd seed and the Nuggets end up in the 5th or 6th spot.

That is an interesting stat although I don't watch the Pacers so I don't know the rest of the story there.  I do know that we were competing for the 1 seed with Ben on his butt.  By simply adding Hali and Buddy to our depth I doubt we get worse.  Two additional 40% 3pt shooters should only help Joel, it would seem.

We're not just bad defensively but our rebounding isn't very good so we could've used two more bodies that can make shots.  The problem with Harden missing all of these shots is that nobody on our team is likely to rebound them.   However, neither Hali or Hield have played in the playoffs so even with the 1 seed we'd likely have just as many concerns entering the playoffs.

There’s always a dumb team like the kings.

He wants to play on a west coast team and for a lil girl like him the Kings would be a perfect fit because no one watches them and the media is not existent at times on their players. It would be perfect for him to fly under the radar, like Fultz in Orlando. Soft players go to teams where no fans care about

kings will want to make a splash as well since they missed the playoffs again and actually got worse after that deal. I could see them finally trying to deal fox and Barnes. Not sure the nets love fox coming back so I’m guessing likely a third team involved.

Lebron is essentially the GM of the Lakers. He's stupid enough to trade for Simmons.

Only asset they have is a 2027 1st and LeBron

I’m guessing the nets would take a chance on AD if offered Simmons for him. Which frankly would never happen.

[Jake Fischer on Twitter] Facing elimination tonight, the Lakers are still expected to part ways with coach Frank Vogel at season’s end. Two names most often linked by league figures as potential replacements currently coach other teams: Quin Snyder and Doc Rivers.
