First, Who doesn't think last year was a fluke? Look at the QB's they faced. Second, you are forgetting that Cox turns 32 this year. Graham and Kelce are 34, Johnson is 32 and Slay (our #1 CB is 31. This gives you confidence we will do better against the pass this season? Hurts is still a huge Question Mark. Now, if Hurts proves to be better than we all feel he will, then I can see 10 wins or more. I would love to see us pull out 10-12 wins and win a play off game! I just don't see it as possible. Next year when we add a couple more pieces we have a legit shot, assuming we have a solid QB starting....

Davis can start,Dean can start if he is ready, both will help on defense which leaves the onus on our once again ignored secondary. I think last year was loaded with BS padded stats. Getting Brown helps a TON,so if the lame teams we played last year are 100% I can still see a 9-10 win season(with actual EARNED stats)

Stine.... I have been saying all this for a while.  My point... the moves that were made.... if we felt confident in the 9 wins and the QB...  should have us looking at 12 plus wins.

The reasons you gave are exactly why we don't think we get 12 wins.   It's not because of the secondary....the secondary was already what it was last year.

I disagree, most teams will have improved their WR's over last year and we are sending out the same unit as last year in the secondary

To early to say we are sending out the same unit in the secondary still plenty of time for us to add couple pieces.
It’s a good time for the team to see what they have in some young guys can look to add a vet like James Bradberry later into TC if needed

Joe stated it was the same unit as last year,so I went on that premise with my response. I hope we get some FA assistance

5 "international" games this year. I DON'T like this stuff. If you want to do pre season that way fine, but doing it during the season denies teams home field advantage

I think our secondary takes a step forward this year vs last season simply because we should have a far better pass rush at least on paper.

My hope as well, but it's not due to adding stellar talent back there. Maybe one of the UDFA's can contribute. I had Jobe as a draft pick(albeit late round) and we like Goodrich better than that

I mean our CBs are not terrible Slay is a #1 caliber guy for most teams and Maddox was very good in the slot.

#2 guy on the outside is question mark but we have lot of young guys we like from McPherson, Gowan, Jobe, Goodrich etc. one should be able to step up and fill that role.

S is probably the bigger concern Harris was underwhelming last year Epps was solid maybe he takes another step forward this season.

Speaking of our UDFA there contract details… Really must have liked Strong highest contract for our UDFAs

Just for comparison sake

Strong got 20k signing bonus and 320k guarantee

Gains last year had a guaranteed money of 335k and he was a 5th round pick

So Strong got a pretty decent amount for going undrafted

Yeah,I don't feel bad about it because Strong was SUPPOSED to be drafted....somewhere. Could be the steal of the draft,so make it worth it for him to come here

Yeah we HOPE one can step up. It's not out of the question, but none of them are top talents. Hope then(one) can at least be serviceable. I noticed next year if we pick around 12-15(maybe pick 16 from NO too) there is a S and a CB right where we would be scheduled to pick. If Hurts works,we could take 2 round 1 secondary guys and be good to go. But we need to see what plays out

Did most teams we play improve their WRs?   Let's look...  Dallas?   Green Bay?  Arizona?  Tennessee?  Indy?

Comparing Qb vs Rb

Zona added Hollywood Brown, right? Tennessee traded for Robert Woods and drafted Burks. NFL rushers change every year. Injuries and suspensions happen. Relying on nutballs can have its negative results as well(see AB). That’s why relying on stringer character guys that love football has it’s benefits. Those intangibles….goes both ways.

I’m comparing draft status you want me to use Sam Howell.

361k guarantee as a 5th round draft pick and his was top pick in round 5 and only got what 30k more then our RB last year

Wow... what's better ..Hollywood Brown or the combo of Hopkins / Kirk?

Tennessee...losing pro bowl level for a rookie and injured vet who one can easily see benefited from the system in LA.

But we can mention those team with the idea of improving WR..... but adding Brown and Paschal simply just make our unit " legit " 🤣

So Sam Howell top pick in the 5th round made 20k more then the UDFA QB we signed is that a better comparison for you even though rookie contracts are set.

Trevor Lawrence is a QB yet making less then Walker the 1st overall pick this year

You are Arizona and Tennessee....we put Slay on your best WR.   You feeling confident that your 2022 WR will have more success than Hopkins or Brown would have?

Correct, position has nothing to do with initial contract.    At least not in the real NFL world,  it might on planet Ham?  It's a different financial system there.

I knew this but apparently me just making the point we are paying Strong essentially 5th rounder money and believe both CBs we signed are making more then most of not all 6th rounders. Means we feel pretty highly on them

Wuss,Detroit,Saints, Steelers added Pickens, packers added Watson. Didn't check the gnats or Vikes for additions. Packers not really an improvement until we see what Watson does. Squeelers with new QB, but they DID add Pickens,so remains to be seen if they improve or not

LOL it's not the fact we improved our WR's, it's the fact other teams did also and we did NOT improve our secondary unless a UDFA kills it in camp

Lawrence has been fairly disappointing. IDK that they got him any WR's either. I don't recall them doing so, so he is facing a "Wentz" lol(do something with nothing)

I mean the Jags spent on WRs not sure they were worth it though lol…. I can’t really fault Lawrence for last season and the crap show Meyers was running.

As for the guys Jags spent big on Kirk(4yrs 72m) Zay Jones(3 yrs 24m), Engram (NYG former Te) also still has Marvin Jones and Shenault

He also gets back his former teammate the RB etienne

Ok... again..look at our 2022 opponents and tell me the huge upgrade at WR with all these teams.  I think whatever you come up with in additions...will not come close to losing Hopkins/Kirk, Adams/ Valdez- Scantling,  Cooper/ Wilson  and AJ Brown.    That's 5 games right there where it's a pretty significant drop-off.  I know you get obsessed with the draft every year...but please don't compare a rookie WR to guys like Adams.   It's a dropoff for sure.
