Right,so why would they draft a top QB in the next draft when they have Fields? Makes zero sense

Joe

Idk what game " I called it"  Hurts was awful today.   The biggest play wasn't even a catch.  Seemed like he made a few awful decisions in the RPO game too.

Defense and the run game took over.

Don’t want to make it all about Hurts. Really a fantastic team effort. Coaches stepped up like elite badazz. I mean wow! Dominating everybody in the playoffs! Who would have thought? Think we all underestimated this staff. I know I questioned them. So it’s time to give credit. Coaches were elite! Can’t even give enough praise. Any doubts o uttered before are erased. I was wrong to question any of them. Most new to their jobs.

One difference maker or 3 very replaceable guys.. to me easy decision.    But idk if that's the way to look at the math..  contracts don't work that way.

Sometimes players will play for less to be with a winner. We've seen that happen before. Hopefully Jurgens can take Kelces spot(I have no clue if he retires because he's been retiring for 5 years). I would probably draft a CB even if Slay stays,I would try to hang on to the other 2 if we can

Well Ham thinks the bears should take a QB with pick 1 and I think that's foolish,so we think differently. If I am Chicago I take the top edge guy or I trade back to get Smith-njinga for Fields

I’m really hoping I eat my words on this kid. Cook loves him. You called it. No Mas and FL you guys were on board also , correct? I’m not all there on him yet. But he cleaned up the Giants that were so beaten. I loved how he just humiliated that beaten team. Little leagues they let up. We crushed both teams! Dominating like we can’t be stopped!

I'm not " on board" with Gainwell..  I just said we have him cheap for 2 more years.  He is solid in the fact that he can play in any situation.  That's perfect for a committee RB.

What frustrates me about Sanders...football IQ.  Stay in bounds when it's coming toward the end of the half...twice he stopped the clock for SF.  Gainwell got his yards and went down to keep the clock moving.

Me saying Gainwell is ok is not " calling it"    my point is Sanders is no where near worth 7 mil.  He will get it from some sucker who sees stats...but he doesn't impact the game.  Another guy can be put in and do just as good.

You shouldn't make it about Hurts today... he was not good at all.

Gainwell-cheap-Sanders big money. Scott scored. Sanders is replaceable for what he may want(we'll see what that is soon enough)

I think the Bears have 3 choices

1.  Stay with Fields...

Leads to take BPA with 1st pick... or trade back if huge offer is there.

2.  Draft QB and trade Fields.

I mean you would assume Fields has value right?    They could go either way.

Hard to beat a team with no QB's? Did Caff or kelce at QB scare you? Purdy came back in because thats all they had and he couldn't throw. I wanted to beat them at full strength

Welp if you are trading Fields, thats different, but I see no reason to. Whichever drafted QB they took would still have no weapons in Chicago. Ham thinks they should draft one and keep Fields too which makes no sense to me. If you use the 1 pick on a QB are you sitting him or Fields?

Let me ask you.

Goal line... you see a difference between Sanders or the other 2?

3rd and 10... you see a difference?

So why would you pay Sanders?  To be a 58% of the snaps only on early downs?   That's it?

For me, if you pay a RB, he needs to bring something extra to the table other than he is above average runner behind the best OL in football. I want a guy who changes the game. Otherwise 10 guys come into the league each year that give you what Sanders does.

I remember how miffed everyone was that we lost Shady

Why I can't yet rule out a RB with pick 30-31. We would have the new guy for 4-5 years, just like we had Sanders

Sure, but Ham wants them to draft the top QB and keep Fields LOL. makes no sense to me,it's one or the other. I have no clue how good Fields could be until you put a team around him. he can't be the offense by himself

Too early though.  No need at least until the late 2nd round pick.

I like him in the RBBC scenario. He's not a 3 down RB,in fact we don't have a 3 down RB,nor should we. I like guys with different skill sets,we can change it up whenever we want

Nah... with pick 1 and Fields..too much trade value for both.   I would think now would be time to trade Fields while he has a little shine.... plus the QB situations are ripe for trades.

Yeah I said they either take the top edge guy or they trade the 1 pick back. They have tons of holes

They may do that, but see no reason to. The new QB would be in the same bind with a trash team,so why not use some picks to make things better for Fields?

I mean there is no way to judge Fields based on the trash he has to work with and they need to find out if he is the future(as we did with Hurts)

Ok..  so why wouldn't the new QB benefit from the assets they get trading Fields?   Isn't it the same?

Right...but you have to think they can get good value for him.  1st rounder plus more.

It's different than us with Hurts... we never had the top draft pick...we had pick 6 but it wasn't the QB year... neither was last year.

Plus Hurts was a cheap option.   In Fields and the top pick in 2023... the Bears situation is totally different.

Shady was a top flight RB.
