Another 70 min practice

But not really.  They have first and second year players doing developmental time after practice.  There is also some level of individual work before practice, like jugs machine work.  And there is use of the weight room.  Plus classroom time and position group meetings. The practice is what the media gets to see.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

They can still do all that and have longer practices. Media see's it all too besides weight room and classroom.

Failing a physical test at the very start of TC would lead to the conclusion that he was out of shape. I don't think it could be more clear than that.

Not necessarily out of shape. Perhaps injured. He was listed with lower body stiffness on the injury report.   Did Seumalo pass his?  Probably not, but we know he was a regular at the Bro Barn. We don’t know the why he failed.

Grief can also impact a person.  My mother died on a Sunday from a lingering illness.  I had a flight the next day to a court ordered attendance and missed my flight because my head wasn’t there. For all we know, Reagor had a similar reaction to his close friend passing that caused him to fail the test.

I continue to think that Howie blew it in drafting Reagor instead of Jefferson, but I did have a low first/high second level grade on him.  He is not a scrub.   Frankly, I am glad to hear the coaches are pushing him. He seems the type to need that level coaching.  Same with JJAW.

Do you know what part of the test he failed?

As @4for4EaglesNest stated, he had hamstring issues immediately upon camp opening. A soft tissue injury like that screams that he's out of shape, so much so that he couldn't pass a basic physical conditioning test which everybody else on the team passed. Except Goedert, who apparently doesn't have the mental aptitude to pass said test, which is also concerning.

It's not hyperbole, it's deeply concerning that this is how he is starting his 2nd season, after lots of questions about his maturity and mental make up. Again, I simply stated that you cannot claim that he came into camp "in shape", because all evidence we have points to the fact that he did not.

Now, he may get into shape in camp, which is what they used to do in the old days, and he may have a decent season, I don't really know. I hope he does. I'm not declaring him a bust by any means, but optics are a thing, and frankly, he's failing at those as well.

I wasn't a fan of JJ going into the draft last year, so I have no beefs there. I've stated a number of times that JJ landed in about the most perfect spot you could land for a WR. Thielen on the other side drew a lot of attention, and Cousins loves to pad stats but not win games. Then you have Cook drawing defenders up, you couldn't ask for more as a rookie WR. I think it's foolish to think JJ would have had the same impact here last year.

But, Reagor likely wouldn't have hit JJ's numbers in Minny either. So far JJ is clearly the better player. But situations absolutely matter. I believe that Jeudy or Lamb would have posted similar numbers in that Minny offense last year.

I am intrigued by Milton Williams.  His body still reminds me a little of John Randle.  Pretty similar height and weight.  I am not sure about Randle's arm length, which seems to be the knock on Williams.  Looking at videos from college. he seems to have a high motor.  I am excited (desperately) to see what He, Sweat and Hargrave bring this year.  D-Line is an area I emphasize as one that is so vital to success of a team.  BG and Barnett are not long term pass rushing solutions and Cox is getting up there.  We need young growth....I think we have the talent in the 3 guys I listed.

I'm rooting for Tarron Jackson to make the roster. Love his game.

If Jeudy had been healthy, probably better than Jefferson.  Lamb landed in a sweet spot too so I am not sure he would have done much better, except for poor QB play.
I have said for a couple of years now that Metcalf landed in the perfect spot.  Carroll likes the deep ball and Wilson throws it better than most.

Reagor had issues with a limited route tree and attitude in college.   In Nick’s offense quitting on a route when not the target is a sin.  I do think he needs to be ridden.  I am hopeful that Smith and Ward are good role models as is Hurts.  I also think JJAW needs to be ridden although I haven’t much hope left for him.

He may have to beat out Kerrigan but I am not sure Kerrigan has won a spot in TC so far.

This year has gone by so fast, but at least football is back! Even if it’s Dallas

While I am very openly down on Hurts, I haven’t criticized him or anyone much for camp…but it doesn’t look good for Hurts or the scheme if anyone’s camp takeaway is "dink and dunk city” and "will lean heavily on the TEs.”

This is when the offense is supposed to be pushing themselves and the ball downfield.  If they can’t get vertical and integrate WRs now, it definitely won’t happen in pads against a first string D.

Fully guaranteed contract. He won a spot, even if he didn't earn it

I think this is spot on accurate. Really i don’t think doug is the coach that was going to continuously do that. That said I don’t know how he’s going to respond to that. You hope he responds by going out there and perfecting it and getting better. However with some of the attitude things he had in college I’m not so sure he responds the way we want him too.

It's annoying to the fan but its probably in the coaches best interest to be as vague or cynical as possible. If Reich keeps saying 5 weeks but it eventually takes him 8 or 9, the fan base is going to be pissed at the player thinking it's their fault.
