Hurts is none of those people

No obviously not and I'm not saying he is. I would guess if you asked him, he would want to be playing. My entire point is that the organization has decided that pre-season games aren't worth a hill of beans, and it flies in the face of conventional wisdom. But, they aren't the only organization in the league taking this mindset. I'm interested to see how the experiment unfolds, but I don't think it's as big a deal as some are making it out to be.

Just some random comments for people who didn't watch the game and have no intention to do so. I find myself being more annoyed at the result of the game than I probably should. It's ridiculous t

Now Mailata, everyone knew exactly what he was going to be. anything less then that would be a guess, which falls to luck

Oy vey you're a dummy.

@downundermike at least we can all rally around the idiocy of this guy

We didn't get unlucky with Dillard.
We screwed up. Period.

I think it's a pretty big deal and it smells like egotism. But we'll see.

Yep, you and others may be completely right on this. I'm willing to wait and see.

Honestly, it's likely the first month is rough. I'll be looking to see steady improvement over the course of the season. If we have the same issues in December that we're having in September, that's a problem. If we're decimated by injuries in September, then certainly we need to revisit the pre-season discussion and what's needed.

So, Howie has screwed up a lot, often, the majority of the time, but your argument is...

Ignore the 98% of bad picks he's made over the last 5-6 years because he knew EXACTLY what he was doing in the 7th round with a guy who never played football before.

You are a weird, weird dude. Nobody is ignoring Howie's screw ups. We are giving him credit for identifying a prospect late in the draft, selecting that prospect, and letting the coach staff develop him into a good player. Nobody knew what Mailata would be. There was potential he could be good, based on a bunch of things. So yes, Howie gets credit when he does something good.

and more importantly, nor has Matt Ryan.....Eagle's game one opponent.

With a new coach and new system.  Shouldn't he need the preseason game reps?  Regardless of his experience, Julio is gone and he has a new target in Kyle Pitts.  Wouldn't he want some work with him in games?

Some teams are sitting guys, some are playing them for awhile.  When the season starts we'll see how it works out.

I love the rationale that you get better at football by not playing football.  I wonder if that applies to my golf game.

Can't shoot 115 if you don't play!

Honestly we are going to suck either way so there’s that?

Terrible comparison.

A good comparison is Andre Dillard. Someone we had way more tape on. Someone who's been playing in the NFL, the Same position, someone we moved up for and drafted and the dudes gonna get cut or traded.

Think about what your saying for a second....

Howie Rosemen, whom you admitted blows at drafting. Someone who cant produce a pro bowler EVER. Someone who's drafted so bad that it's made this team one of the worst in the league KNEW EXACTLY what he was getting in the 7th round 4 years ago

Carson Wentz.

@4for4EaglesNest I think the sensitive little snowflake @Bacarty2 went full RTK and put me on ignore because I owned him so bad.

The rich folk from Austin have taken over Driftwood and Wimberly.  Gruene (hilarious my spellcheck tried to change that to Greene) is a friggin suburb. San Marcos is built up and now almost a suburb of Austin.  My sister lives at Canyon Lake.   Out to the west in the Hill Country it is still a lot more like it used to be except Fredericksburg.  You have to get away from the I 35 corridor.  I would say nowadays San Marcos is governed more by I 35 than the university.

Problem is then you have to live with Trumpers. One rule I have is I can't live in any county where Trump got the majority of the 2020 vote, 2016 I understand why people went for what was behind door #3 rather than Hillary, but 2020 we knew exactly what was behind that door. And in Texas, it's worse, Abbott and Patrick are the meanest politicians in my memory.

I have no problem with them ole fashioned Texas rednecks, good people with atavistic ideas who made fine neighbors, but this sea change I can't abide, "Q", "stolen elections," "anti-vaxxers" etc. We've gone from conservative, tradition bound rural people to "crazy land" out there. And  they all have guns.

I agree.  At least I want to see some progression from some of these young players and see enough from Sirianni to feel like he can be a good HC.

Just want to see things trending upwards.  Obviously the record won't be good but at least be a tough game for opponents.

Speaking of Dillard, I hope he plays tonight. Want to see with my own eyes.

I'd worry a little bit if a part of your life revolves around "owning" someone on a football message board...

So Howie didn't now what he was doing when he took Sweat in the 4th rd?

Some picks are upside gambles, Dickerson, yes the injuries are a concern, but without them he's a top 15 pick. You don't get too many of these players, you get a lot more 2nd rd types that you normally pick at #37.

Jones was also a gamble, but probably a bigger one b/c WRs and CBs are more vulnerable to injuries that reduce their speed and agility by a small margin.

Mailata was an upside gamble, the fact that Howie traded up to get him says he had him targeted, not that he knew Mailata would ever play in the NFL, but that it was a long shot gamble with a high potential payoff.

You're gonna miss on a lot of gambles, key is to recognize the gambles that are underpriced by the "market."

He's on ignore because he told me throwing 57% completion in the BIG EAST is EXACTLY the same thing as throwing 57% in the NFL. So if thats owning... I guess he wins

What an absolute load of crap.  You put me on ignore because you flat out embarrassed yourself and I kept calling you out on it.

Better than Slay?  Better than Nelson?  Better than Maddox?  Better than McPhearson?   Better than James on STs because that is a factor for depth players?
Not sure a 4.6 CB fits Gannon’s scheme because I am not sure what Gannon’s scheme is at this point.

You must not have your reading glasses on.  It clearly said the "depth players".  That obviously wouldn't include Slay, Nelson, or Maddox.

The problem is 1st round, 2nd round, 7th round, it doesn't matter, they all appear to be gambles, and he is missing on a lot of them.

My suspicion is that when the regular season starts, the guys who sat out will need all of 1Q of play to catch up, because playing 20 more snaps in preseason at preseason speed isn't going to give you a huge edge. Meanwhile, playing your reserves will help more, because they don't get much regular season PT until injuries mount, so those preseason games matter for more for their development.

How are they developing in a vanilla scheme that is not what they practiced ??

That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.  So the Eagles already have an advantage over the Chiefs, Buccaneers, the entire NFC East, Seattle and Green Bay because they aren't letting any teams have their tape....from pre-season.

I'm so sick of the smartest guy in the room attitude this team has.
