Maybe I'm a bit giddy over a division win, a bad win at that, but I'm starting to believe in this team.

I believe Jalen has improved.  I believe he's growing as a passer.  He's making a few throws that are head turning.  There's room for improvement, for sure, but he's making that improvement.   He's leading the best running attack in the league, the best running attack that the league has seen in quite some time.

Our defense is meh, but we seem to be able to limit the damage.

If we make the playoffs, we could make a little run.  There are NFC teams light years ahead of us, but I would not be surprised if this team could win a playoff game or two.

Hurts play has improved some, but I'm not sure if it's Hurts improving or it being a by-product of playing behind the hands down best O-Line in the NFL.

The clips that Baldy broke down showed a level of pass pro that is comical.

Like, the next Sam Darnold, or Josh Rosen or Haskins, or Daniel Jones.   Throw out what you have in order to hand the keys to one of those guys?    There are a lot of QBs drafted in the first round recently who have not done particularly well.

The Eagles are 7-7,  up from 4-11-1 last year.   I don't think that the defense is much better.   The offense, with Hurts, is better.  And the Eagles don't have to spend $30 M a year for the next few years.  and the Eagles are getting a first rounder.

Stay the course,  spend mostly on defense, the defense improves.  Add some run parts like the Ravens have,  a FB,  a blocking TE.   The Eagles might be able, at some time, to sign a free agent QB, instead of having to trade for one.
Next year, maybe a Free Agent Wide Receiver, who meets the needs the Eagles might have.  Look for one of those great RBs,  big and fast.   If there's a great one,  could use and early pick,  but a sufficient one could be found on day 3, probably.

Eagles have a blocking TE in Stoll.  Could be upgraded to a blocking TE that can catch a bit better.

Yeah, absolutely true.  I credit Siri for this.  He knows the strength of this team and he is using it.

Agreed. Siri is someone who definitely has improved. He still has a bad habit of getting cute with play-calling when it is unnecessary, but he has come a long way from the first month of the season.

Redskins went into the game without their best corner, the other starter was injured, and I believe Landon Collins missed time with an injury.

These 1 week blips are not improvement.  He needs to show it multiple weeks in a row.

One thing I did notice, he took several plays that worked for Minshew and put them in the game plan for Hurts.

The NYG game was totally queued up for Swag to do well - mind bottling what happened that week, as that team is objectively horrendous. A backslide to even the Hurts median would be a huge failure. If the OL can consistently gin up 175 yard rushing games, Swag has to be able to easily manage the game.

And that is where he resides in the depth chart.

1-5 = Johnson - Seumalo - Kelce - Brooks - Mailata

6-9 = Dillard - Driscoll - Herbig - Dickerson - ??

10-13 = Toth - Opeta - ?? - Anderson - Clark

I agree.   I just want to nip the notion of him being better than that in the bud.

4th one?

The numbers, they speak to me.  🤡

Nothing new to the Hurts conversation but I find it hilarious he plays 3/4 of a good game and that's all everyone needs to crown him.

I agree mostly with this. You figure he should continue to improve as a passer as far as making his reads faster and delivering on time with accuracy. And make no mistake about it, he is the reason for our successful ground attack. The threat of him running holds a backer or end or box safety that allows for the line to double team and get to the next level quicker.

My biggest concern is his arm strength. He’s got a rag arm and doesn’t scare a defense on him unloading a deep shot. I’m not saying an offense should be built around and focus on multiple home run shots a game. But at some point you need to be able to chuck it deep or zip one outside the numbers on a rope, and he doesn’t appear to have that.

ok.

Of course, all that you said in the second paragraph means that teams can load up the box if they want to and that sort of negates the holding of one player due to Hurts' running threat.

And when you look at the game they played without Hurts... the RBs...

WASH: 238 total minus Hurts' 38 = 200 yards by RBs.
NYJ: 185 total minus Minshew's 11 = 174 yards by RBs.
NYG: 208 total minus Hurts' 77 = 131 yards by RBs.
NO: 242 total minus Hurts' 69 = 173 yards by RBs.
DEN: 216 total minus Hurts' 55 = 161 yards by RBs.
LAC: 176 total minus Hurts' 62 = 114 yards by RBs.
DET: 236 total minus Hurts' 71 = 165 yards by RBs.

Seems the rushing attack without Hurts wasn't any worse than with him.  157 with Hurts by RBs... 174 without him.   Small sample size, but that's where we are since they went heavy rushing attack.

They didn’t slip up and say redskins and say Tuesday night football at least 3 times? Damn

Opposing defenses know exactly what we are going to do and they still can't stop our run game. That's what winning in the trenches is all about.

Nah... some.  But, those were mainly the folks just waiting to crown him anyway.  Confirmation bias at its finest.

Didn't hear the Redskins part

Interesting breakdown by Simms, he has really come around on Hurts.

I'm not there with Hurts, not sure if I will get there, but Hurts is making believers out of some of his earlier skeptics.

It’s a narrative to try to bolster his value. The oline would be great at run blocking if we had mahomes, josh Allen or Justin herbert or any good competent QB out there too. Heck they might even be better as teams would have to respect the pass even more than they do right now.

no offense they’d run the ball well as long as the QB is competent cause their oline is that good and Jeff stoutland has a PH.D in teaching oline. The problem with Doug outside of 2017 was always we didn’t run the damn ball enough. It’s why manu and i would be at each other’s throats
