R.I.P.   He was one of the biggest in NFL history.

Jackson and McPhearson haven’t done much of anything. Williams has been solid.

Gainwell has flashed way more than all three combined. His usage has diminished, but even in an extremely limited role, he’s still producing.

I think the usage trend is meaningful.  Gainwell was clearly the #2 coming out of camp, ahead of Scott.  But ball security became a concern.  He is now behind Scott.  Not to stay he can't be part of the committee next season, but when Sanders was healthy, he was clearly odd man out.

Williams is trending in the other direction.  In his first seven games - 10 tackles, 1 TFL, and 0 sacks.  Last 8 games - 15 tackles, 2.5 TFL, and 2 sacks.  He looks like he can be a solid DT2 going forward.

Well we know who will be on the cover of Madden next year

RIP John Madden

Opps. Forgot about him, dropped dead in December 1989.

I wish they would remove his name from the video game. The game sucks ass.

Maybe the reports would stop, if instead of warnings, you just posted the top 10 reporters, right here in the blog.  I have a feeling I could name 5 of them quite easily.

that would be funny

wow rip madden. Didn’t nfl network just have him on or do some special?

The concern I have with that angry style is that the runner often is delivering punishment to himself as well as the defenders.  That punishment takes its toll.

I agree. Im thinking about taking a back no earlier than round 4 this year. I want him to be a power runner like that. We will enjoy him for 4 years and then let him go or no extensions longer than 1 year at a time.

The point is you should have stayed on the short bus.

Please don't use that phrase.  My daughter had a learning disability.  She was able to overcome it, graduate from college, and even get a graduate degree.  But growing up, she had to deal with the stigma of being transported in a different vehicle.  It wasn't fair.

Please find a different way to insult someone.

I am being very serious.

Randall is one of the main reasons I'm an eagle fan, at the time I didn't understand all of what you mentioned I was just a kid and just really liked watching him make crazy plays.

Older I got the more I heard and read the more disillusioned I became but his comeback story if a humble guy laying tile in Nevada who lost his daughter who happened to get a call from Denny green to come and tryout for the Vikings then the run he went on really endeared me to him again.

Too bad Randall coukdnt have been more humble when with the eagles and hunkered down, then again he didn't have much while with the eagles, no o line no running game a head coach that just told him to make 5 big plays a game his OC that was a close friend died, then to go to a stacked offense in Minnesota with an offensive minded coach behind a really good o line it was a great story and fun watching him shine in that environment.

I would have liked to have seen Randall shine in the big game.

Same here.  Randall, along with Buddy's defense was what introduced me to the Eagles when I was maybe 8 years old.  Clueless to the Whitney Houston stuff and all of the other things.  I just loved watching him play football.  Loved John Elway too.  As a kid I didn't understand football much.  I can still remember asking why running backs just take the ball and run in to the line.  But I did know that Randall made things exciting and the defense hit hard and always looked like they were having fun.

Have to be reasonable about expectations.

Smith and Dickerson are top flight starters as rookies, to land two in one season is rare.

Williams is a bit of a project, great athleticism, shorter arms, he's learning the technique to deal with NFL linemen and the coaches are learning how best to use him, but he's on track to start next year, maybe in the Curry role as LDE, moving inside on passing downs. That flexibility is valuable, especially if Gannon wants to run a hybrid 3-4/4-3, though Williams is not built for the 3-4 DE role.

McPhearson has primarily played STs, given how well Maddox has played, that's not a knock, next year he needs to push for more PT.

Gainwell has struggled a bit but shown more than enough to justify a 5th rd pick. NFL passing game is more sophisticated than college so expect some growing pains.

Tuipulotu hasn't shown a lot, but 6th rd DTs tend to take time. Though he may get challenged in camp next year

Tarron Jackson has worked his way into the DE rotation, solid performance for a 6th rd pick.

Stevens has spent the year on the PS, probably a "red shirt" while they build him up for LB, they've protected him on the PS so they see a future role

Johnson has been a major ST contributor, but saw his PT cut as Avery settled into the SLB role (he's only 26).

Stoll (UDFA) has 4 starts at TE and has developed as a blocker, Tyree Jackson (SFA) is still in the project stage at TE

Chachere was brought in for STs but is getting some looks on defense,

Last year's group:

3 2nd year UDFAs on the OL, Herbig, Toth and Opeta.

Edwards 2nd year (UDFA) has stepped in as the starting MLB, Taylor 2nd year (4th rd) pushing for SLB job before he was injured

Bradley 2nd yr (6th rd) was a key ST player until he was injured

Reagor a disappointment, Watkins a find, Wallace on STs, Driscoll started at RG until he was injured, Hurts starts at QB

Jackson has slowly been building both snaps and impact.  I agree that on a whole season basis his impact has been minimal. but the trend in the past eight weeks in his snap counts is positive   4 - 8 - 9 - 20  - 19 - 19  - 17 - 36
