Hire Vic Fangio Mon after he is fired, let Gannon walk and then Denver won;t have to wait to get approval from the Birds to interview Gannon. Even though lets be honest, he doesnt have a shot in hell.

I don;t care that playoffs are next week. Gannon's scheme is a liability. We would be better off with Vic even just having one week to coach up this defense.

Or fired, cut.

Thats enticing, but realistically I dont think the eagles are even going to consider it. They spend a bunch of picks looking for hybrid type players to fit what Gannon wants. Now I think they focus on bringing him a little bit higher level talent.

You do realize Vic runs similar hybrid formations right? He would at least get the best out of them with his type of scheme. id hire Vic in a heart beat. Key is would he want to come here? However we can say we are a playoff team in season one and defensive scheme is our biggest downfall with a lot of picks and money to build it up for season 2.

All these teams want to interview Gannon. Can we just trade him instead?

If Wilson & Rodgers don't get traded, we're rolling with Hurts in 2022.

We likely are even if they are on the market.

Obviously I don't have to get into my issues with Hurts, but having him start/compete for the job next season makes sense, unless a QB they love is available for their first pick.

Don't want them wasting capital on Wilson or to move up for a QB.

Maybe hes considered a minority in some way. One thing that makes sense to me on why anyone would want to interview him.

scheme wasnt our biggest downfall. It was the lack of talent on that side of the ball.

While I like his explosion, he seems to run a little to upright.  Think he would be susceptible to big hits and fumbles.

Yea, but even upright for him he's at 5-8/5-9.  He isn't a big target.  It's one game but it's also what he was known for in college and that's explosive play.  None of the RB offer that.  I just think he's the guy where if you get him on a screen behind Kelce and Dickerson or just let the left side collapse the DL good things are going to happen.

Could he be Raheem Mostert 2.0?

How can you complain about the defense? Only starter caliber player was Williams. Only player to play backup minutes was Ridgeway.

We fielded the team you put out in the 2nd/3rd Q of exhibition games against the Cowboy starters.

Minshew is what he is, it was a tough circumstance with a makeshift line against most of the Cowboy D-line (but their backup CBs), but he also threw into double coverage a few times, missed high too often and has a weaker arm than Hurts. He's a solid backup, but the most you'll get for him in a trade would be a late 3rd, probably a 4th or 5th.

Toth playing center was interesting, then Anderson. Clues about next year, with or without Kelce (who I think will return, he had fun this year and another good season would help his HOF chances).

The bolded is incorrect.

Yea we will disagree on that. Scheme was a huge breakdown on this team. It was extremely predictable which we saw any decent team ripped it apart. We have some talent on this defense and we do need more, but Gannon;s scheme was horrendous.

It is clear by this point that Hurts has a stronger arm.

Well yea, he’s a defensive coordinator

Wouldn't trade him for anything less than a 1st.

That would be my requirement as well.

it would be interesting to go back to read the assessments of Dak from his first three years and compare them to what the current reviews of Hurts are.

I decided to try going offense a little bit earlier in this one. I unfortunately ended up neglecting LB so this seems fairly realistic.

Doubled up on DEs. Got a rotational DT. And really loaded up on secondary since last night made it so clear that we dont really have any prospects on the depth chart.

Another excellent draft. 👍

One player I enjoyed watching this week was Huntley.  He showed a bit of spark and certainly looks like he can be a kickoff returner if nothing else.

Agreed. He should be KR and should get a shot at PR.

Milton Williams is a player. The JV offensive line was serviceable. Stoutland is really incredible (duh). McPhearson didn’t look too out of place defending Cooper and Lamb.

I loved Milton when we drafted him and saw nothing but improvement this year. He’s gonna be a nice piece next year. One of the few young players with talent on D.

Milton Williams after a year in the weight room 😎😎

McPhearson hasn't done enough to not spend high-level draft picks on CBs IMO.

While I agree we still need 1-2 CB, McPhearson for a 4th round rookie looked ok last night. He’s an outside CB backup.

After seeing Gainwell and Huntley last night the thought of a day 1 or 2 RB in my mind is now at 0% need.

The plan for C next year in my opinion is the draft. You could see Linderbaum in R1 or even a high G pick with Seumalo moving over.

I have watched 100x more Minshew than anyone on this board as a WSU fan.  Minshew has a way stronger arm.

Going by the Brady Rule, I’m predicting our playoff game will be next Sun at 8:15. They won’t want to give Brady a short week by scheduling it as the Saturday PM game and will want the prime slot on Sunday.

Unless we play the Rams which will be the Saturday Nickelodeon game

Well, you’d be comparing apples and oranges because Dak had a top 10 offense around him right from the jump — but his rookie numbers were in a different reality from Hurts

67.8%, 23 TD/4 INT

There wouldn’t even be a question about Hurts if he approached that level of efficiency

I can and will complain about the Defense … and did so throughout the game last night.  Gannon appeared to revert back to the soft zone scheme he deployed in the first seven games of the season.  That was a recipe for the coverage disaster we saw.  I don’t care that the defense of backs were the scrubs put them in the position to be aggressive. As was pointed out by Brian Griese over and over again to the zone coverage is that Gannon had schemed up require coordination between the defense of backs and the linebackers. That coordination simply wasn’t there. And I don’t think it was the personnel that was the root cause of the lack of coordination.

I feel like I remember a year or 2 before he came here, he was one of the hottest names in this thread that people wanted to bring in to replace Schwartz.

He was very highly regarded around the league as an up and coming coach. He has a system that he didnt have all of the personnel to run yet. You cant run the seattle defense without a Bobby Wagner to make it all work. We tried to bring in a few hybrid guys like JaCoby Stevens LB/S, Milton Williams DT/DE, and Patrick Johnson DE/LB in the mold of Gennard Avery who they also retained.

What if they had used higher picks on that DE/LB position? They should do that this year and evaluate his system once it has more talent to run it properly. What if this year they get a guy like Enagbare there? Or Nick Bonitto, or Darrian Beavers for that role? And add a safety? Could be looking great.

Gotta wait and see on Gannon.  I think there's something there, just waiting to be unleashed when some more talent arrives to actually run it.

Although numbers are useful I’d be much more interested in the more in-depth assessments of various analysts. Your point about deck being in a top 10 office right from the jump is a good one.
