Right... landscape has definitely changed for Watson.  It looks like Miami may roll with Tua given what he had shown through the end of the year.  Also multiple QBs now could be available.  Watson may change his mind on where he is demanding to go, if there is a viable team that wants to commit to him... his price has to have come down as well.  A lot would have to happen including settlement of the legal issues, but I think it remains a possibility, and a greater one than the other QBs rumored to be available.  Not advocating for him, as there are too many unknowns right now, but it would obviously give them a legit QB if it happened.

There’s also the rumor that Watson and Brian Flores want to team up with the Giants. However there’s also the report countering this that giants owner Mara really wants no part of watson with everything surrounding him right now.

While I think Hurts did incrementally improve, he obviously didn’t turn any of his weakness into a neutral. Every QB misses throws, misses reads and sometimes we way overreact to a streaking player who wasn’t in the initial first or second progression.

That said, he obviously does it too much, and I’ve never seen an Eagles QB stare down open receivers downfield and fail to pull the trigger so much. It makes no sense to me.

How about Love from GB?

Seems likely that Rodgers isn’t leaving, but I’m sure he will want them to trade Love and remove that distraction.

Plus, he’s still on his rookie deal.

I’ll say this, caplan dropped the bomb on draft night that year when he said the eagles really interested in love. I doubt that happens though.

I remember Rappaport saying Minshew will get some trade interest.  A Minshew trade would send a clear indication the Eagles are staying with Hurts at QB.  I wouldn't trade Minshew for any less than a 3rd round pick.

Not sure what Hurts' trade market would be.  I do believe if the Eagles have any thoughts of moving on from him, now is the time.  A team trading for him would get the benefit of two more years on a rookie deal.  If the Eagles wait until after 2022 then decide to move on, I think Hurts' trade value goes way down as he'd be entering the final year of his contract and wanting a much bigger extension.

What’s the cost? We supposedly liked him pre-draft.

I would think a 2?

Something to consider with Minshew… He is hyper competitive and wants a chance to start. That means unless we truly are open to a competition in 2022, he’s walking in 2023 so he can potentially pick a place where he gets a shot.

Makes sense to explore a trade.

Pass. Maybe if he showed something in his one start.

Todd Bowles' gameplan was borderline cartoonish yesterday. Load the box, play the CBs so far off you could barely see them on the TV broadcast. Intermediate throws were consistently there for chunk gains if Hurts was on-time.

This was easily Hurts' worst concerning performance because it was the most blatantly targeted defense he's ever played in the NFL, and he was as bad as he's ever been against it.

6 dbs a lot , whitehead played some ilb in place of David , and keep them fresh Davis and Dean only ones to play the whole game , Vea played 40% of the snaps

personally I don’t think the Eagles coaches used the WOs correctly , no creativity at all

When Watson said no to the Eagles, we were coming of a 4-12-1 season in which we fired our coach. We had no cap room. We were a joke.

Now, we're a playoff team with 3 1st round picks, an "ok" cap, a HC that players like and stability.

Very different situations for Watson. We're a much better option for him over say Carolina.

On the radio Jaws was doing color commentary and talked about this during the game. He believed hurts was questioning his arm strength to deliver the ball and get it there on time so he just held it until the receiver got completely open. Unfortunately in the nfl that doesn’t last long and by the time hurts released it defenders had time to react. I just thought it was interesting cause jaws has played the position so he imo would have more insight to what hurts was possible thinking

Hmmm…

Russ moves on from SEA (not to Philly, of course).

Howie sells SEA a bridge (Hurts).

Minshew stopgaps for rookie… alternative to offensive purgatory.

Reality… another year of Hurts and squinting for incremental improvement; trusting the defense becomes competent with another offseason/improved roster.

That’s been the talking point all year. We know he doesn’t have a plus arm, so he has to throw on time and in rhythm on those deep shots. He doesn’t do it for whatever reason.

I don't think people are suggesting that Carr is the answer at QB here.  However, bringing in Carr would benefit this WR group tremendously.  They need a QB who can get them the ball and Hurts isn't it.  If you're OK with Smith being targeted less than 1/3 of the tight ends in the NFL and the rest of the WR group being non-existent then sure, keep Hurts and run him all day long.

Hurts is developing.  He will be better with that next year.  Criticism also needs to go with the play calling that their gameplan clearly did not involve getting the ball to Smith early in that game.  The offense is young and developing as is Sirianni as a play caller.

In the meantime they desperately need to inject the defense with actual quality young talent.

To me the options for watson are likely coming down to Steelers (was a report came out yesterday morning that the Steelers were not willing to pay the price of multiple first rounders for rodgers or Wilson so don’t see them doing that for watson either), broncos, browns, Carolina, Washington and the eagles.

id say giants as a report he wants Flores there and he’d go there, giants owner Mara doesn’t want watson.

Dammit.

I think jaws’ reason for that is hurts doesn’t trust his arm enough unless he visually sees the guy completely wide open to make him want to throw it

Our OK cap is like 6th most in the league. I know 14M isnt a lot, but 6th best is worth noting as far as looking at teams who have the best opportunities to imrove.

You don't know that, the QB was incapable of getting him the ball is more likely.

And Hurts is not developing, he is no better after week 19 than he was after week 1.

I don't think GB can afford to move Love because their starting QB, Tender Flake, might either retire or bolt on them at the end of this season.

I understand what you’re saying. I don’t know if it’s trust in his arm or trust in his eyes, but he clearly isn’t pulling the trigger on open guys.

That 6th most number is 6th most amongst playoff teams.  Eagles are 22nd in 2022 cap space.

TBF, Sirianni said yesterday he needed to do a better job of scheming plays to Smith.
