February 24, 20232 yr Several things stuck out about Valderamma. The cork trees of course. They are everywhere and although 90% air, they hang in your way from all sorts of angles if you wander anywhere from the center of the fairway. All it takes is being down one side of the fairway and have the pin on the same side and you have a few thick limbs in your way. Then there is 17. It is every bit as tough as its reputation. No doubt about it. The approach shot is one of the slickest I've played, probably the slickest. A perfect sand wedge distance of 95 yards felt totally dangerous to me. Lots of fun and difficult holes all over. However, the #1 thing that sticks with me is the greens. That always seems to be the case for me when I play a really top 100 type course. When I played Valderramma I was an 8 and the best part of my game by far, relative to other golfers at my level, was my super consistent play around the greens. I pretty much never three putted and I got up and down all the time. Not at Valderamma. I putt very well that day and had 40 putts. The wind didn't help which gusted to 40mph on some holes but on some parts the course there was almost no wind at all. I four putt the first green and I hit four good putts. All in all a great experience though I shot 98 while playing ok. I was happy to break 100 to be honest.

Next month's matchup between the Destroyers and the Laser Guns is going to be epic!" Placed a few bets to make it more interesting - Justin Thomas, Min Woo Lee, and Schauffele (top 10 bet for him because he seems to choke down the stretch).

I’m thinking he might try in a year or two and see if he can get a proper Masters lead up of say four or five tourneys in the Jan-Mar period and give it one last real shot.

April 17, 20232 yr Just 4 weeks away until I spend a week at Carne Golf Links in the remote town of Belmullet in County Mayo. Went on a trip last year to several courses, including this one. Loved it so much that I am staying there for an entire week and only playing that course. If you haven't heard of it, you should look it up. It's an awesome destination. Town only has a population of 1,000, so you'd have to be okay with that.
