Off-topic: Someone broke into my apartment last night and stole my PS5 while I was home (I was in my room at the time). After filing a report, I found out the same person also broke into another apartment in my complex.

Has this unfortunate incident happened to anyone else? I’m a bit shaken up and am having trouble processing it. It’s pretty scary to think that someone easily broke into my apartment without me knowing. I am grateful that they only stole my PS5, though, because I know it could’ve gone a lot worse.

Also, no prints were found, as it seems he wiped everything down—BUT, this dumb SOB dropped his ID on my kitchen floor. I’m hopeful it’s as simple as finding the guy on the ID, but I’m not holding my breath.

Anyway, that was my Sunday morning. I hope you guys had a better one.

Sorry to hear. My place was broken into about 4 years ago during the day when I was at work. They just took my laptop and tried to take my tv but I guess it was too heavy because they just left it sitting up right in the alley.

Also my first reaction is he dropped someone else’s ID in your kitchen intentionally.

So I wasn't exactly the captain of the draft DK Metcalf bandwagon.  (And I'm all about the athletic/speed freaks at WR).  The neck injury, combined with his lack of agility, made me question his long-term upside as a true #1 WR.  Once he made it to our 2nd round pick...I was beating the drum to draft him, as I figured it's great value for his sheer talent.  The first 2 years of his career made it look like we might have missed on the next big thing.  Last year, some of his limitations were on display as his production leveled off.

He was still an incredible second round pick...and should have been OUR second round pick.

But why does Seattle want to move on?  1.  He has limitations.  2. They'd probably have to give him money that does not reflect those limitations.  3. They are turning over the QB position and may need both a more well-rounded WR and a WR with a longer horizon and less longevity concerns because they don't even have qb figured out.

All of those issues apply to us too...so I don't see why we'd want to invest big him Metcalf at this point.

I think if he had 4-5 years of soccer, or basketball, something other than being a track star which he probably could be, that would of helped him tremendously at least it would of loosened his hips up a bit. Again as I said before, the body building thing which I give the guy credit for, doesn’t help in the least bit playing WR.
I’d still give up a 2nd round pick for him, but not a 1st.

I just got off the phone with the officer who took my report this morning. It turns out the ID was stolen, but they do have a couple of suspects.

Apparently, there’s been a few of these robberies.

As far as security goes, I’m picking up some new locks tonight, and will probably look into cameras.

I also thought about buying a gun (former owner). I owned a Sig about ten years ago but got rid of it—I wish I had kept it now.

This experience is also reminding me of my dog, which I lost about six months ago. She was very intimidating but gentle. I have no doubts she would have protected me, though.

Thank you again for all of your replies. I appreciate them more than you know.

I have the sig and HK ready for those situations, but putting up some fake security cameras is a pretty good idea.

I had kidney stones a few months ago. It was awful. It felt like Mike Tyson was punching my flank over and over again non stop. I’ve had worse pain, but never pain that bad that was that unrelenting. It just didn’t go away and I couldn’t get into a position to make it go away. I never had one before so I didn’t know what it was. I thought maybe my appendix burst or something so I called 911. Morphine didn’t even help the pain but it made me violently ill. My urologist told me to drink lemonade daily and drink lots of water because I have another one still in me. But I’m prone to kidney stones I’ve been told so I need to be as preventative as possible.

I read there’s this thing that’s been successful in the UK to treat stones. Basically blast the crap out of them with a hypersonic device. Hasn’t been put to market yet though.

Crime is on the rise, I suggest if you live in bad areas to invest in a firearm if you don’t feel safe. One of my biggest fears is waking up with a burglar standing over me and being helpless.

invest in alarms if you can afford it and secure your home as best you can.

I sold alarms one summer and getting alarm stickers or signs on your lawn are just as effective as deterring crime as the alarm it self.

As for kidney stones yeah they're the worst, when I had one my wife drove me to the hospital we'd only been married like 3weeks, I felt like I was dying they put me in a bed with a saline bag and some hydromorphone, I'm allergic to morphine.

I would fade in and out to of sleep and my wife said I'd wake up screaming grabbing the bed rails shake them and yell SAM MIKE and WIL!!!

After I was lucid and passed the stone and was able to talk my wife was telling me what was going on and she asked, Who the heck are Sam Mike and Will??? Confusedly I asked what ??? Why??? She said when I would wake up screaming I'd yell Sam Mike and Will, I just laughed and told her those were football LB positions😁

As for the hypersonic device, yeah I've had a friend who had his blasted as well as my father in law, they bust them up hypersonically so they are smaller and can be passed, I'm sure passing them still hurts like a B though.

Good luck, lots of lemons!

Crime isn't going up, there's a short-term blip due to the pandemic, but most crime occurs in poor neighborhoods. What's gone up the last few decades is media attention to crime, but the many of the same people who won't get vaccinated obsess over crime and get guns (and COVID is a hell of a lot more dangerous). Most people have no concept of risk.

Property crime is often local kids breaking into cars, houses, etc. Crimes of boredom and opportunity. You do have to keep an eye out for professionals, people going through your neighborhood "selling" something, but actually casing out houses to see who's absent - helps to get along with your neighbors and watch out for each other.

Nothing like a big dog (75 lbs plus) to deter burglars. All the dog has to do is look big and bark loudly.

Violent crime and homicides have gone up and it has nothing to do with the pandemic. The US is like the only country crime went up during the pandemic, in other countries it went down. And in the US the data shows it happened to skyrocket the same week of the George Floyd riots and has been climbing ever since. Particularly homicides. 9 cities last year hit their all-time record in homicides in the US. And crime was trending downward in the US before 2020. The 2010 decade in fact was the best ever decade for homicides per capita since crime data first started being thoroughly recorded, which was 1960 or so.

That is what happens when progressive policies keep violent people out of prison in the name of "equity" you defund police, demoralize them by not backing them publicly, force many officers to retire, and embolden criminals by  backing down.

My parents home was broken into 15 years ago or so.  The robber smashed the window to get into the basement.  They called the cops who followed the foot prints in the snow over to our neighbors house (2 houses down).  Kid we grew up with and my parents babysat most of his life got hooked on drugs ended up being the one who did it and was arrested.  Sad.  Been in and out (mostly in) of jail ever since.

So moronic

we just had a south american crime group breaking into houses in wealthy suburbs out here.

you commitment to being completely wrong is unusual…

I get why Afan gets made fun of so much in here now.

Media coverage in my town has been the same for 20 years, yet I ready about more homicides on a daily basis in a 10 mile radius from my home now than ever before. I live 10 minutes from meridian idaho, and meridian was just placed on Americas 10 fastest growing cities. Only going to get worse for us out here.

Yeah, Boise and SLC are changing thanks to the trash from Cali moving in.

Especially this being an Eagles board, if you've been paying attention, crime in this area has been insane. Philly is on pace to double its homicides from 5 years ago. Double. Do you know how insane that is. This isn't Cheyenne Wyoming that gets a couple a year, this is a major city that will double its total homicides from just a few years ago.

And there's several carjackings every single day.

I had to drive through SW Philly the other day to get to a hospital appointment. Every red light I checked all my mirrors to make sure someone wasn't sneaking up on my car ready to jack me. This is what it's come to.

It's kinda tone deaf to scoff at rising crime especially on a Philly sports website.

I’m torn over so many people moving here too. Idaho is so behind in so many things, and it’s citizens refuse to change and try to catch up to everyone, so people moving here might help. But housing prices are insane, traffic has gotten awful, property taxes are getting rough.

These days there are so many security gadgets its pretty accessible to just about anyone. Even if you dont go full blown monitored security system, a ring doorbell or 2 would go a long way.

There are also the little Canary all in one tabletop devices for inside that act as motion detectors, a camera, and an alarm. So if the intruder gets in somwehere not seen by a Ring doorbell, the canary can monitor inside.

I get why Eagles fans want DK, but the WR to trade 1st rounder and extend is AJ Brown.

Brown will turn 25 this year and fits what we do (YAC based offense). He's a very different WR than Smith and Quez rounds out a good trio. Brown's only history concerns are hamstring-related, which are frustrating and likely means he'll play 12 games instead of 16-17 (see Julio Jones in his prime).

I'd rather trade a 1st for Brown than spend a 1st on a WR.

Also, Brown helps with QB recruiting next year.

Guys, you have my sincere sympathy!

I have been there and got the T-shirt on kidney stones. And the problem is, once you've had them, you are increasingly susceptible to more.

I live in the UK, and my first stone was treated via lithotripsy, which is non-invasive, as they zap the stone into smithereens with a laser. That's the easy bit, because then you still have to 'pass' the fragments, which is basically peeing out red hot shards of rubble. Not nice at all, but thankfully eventually the damn thing is out and the pain is gone. I actually had to have two bouts of lithotripsy to get it all out, the first left me very nauseous the following day, but the second was uneventful and ultimately the procedure was successful.

I was told by the consultant to drink plenty of water infused with lemon juice, and to keep well hydrated at all times. Despite adhering to this as best I could, sure enough I got another stone last year.

This one was not so simple! Apparently it lodged in a place where they couldn't access it via lithotripsy and I had to have an operation to remove it instead. I'll spare you the gory details, but let's just say give me the damn lithotripsy any day!

Been OK up until last Tuesday, when I woke up with the familiar relentless pain of another bloody stone! Managed it with pain relief for a few days, but felt terrible - couldn't sleep properly and had no appetite whatsoever. Spent most of Saturday in bed trying to get at least some sleep, then surprisingly I woke up this morning completely pain-free, so I've either passed it (unlikely as I don't recall doing so, and believe me, you know when you pass a stone!) or more likely it's just moved to a place where it's not causing pain. Yet!

Once you have this type of thing, it doesn't half make you appreciate the simple things in life. Just waking up without being in pain is a thing we all take for granted, but it really is priceless.

And I do fully appreciate that my mere kidney stones pale into insignificance when compared to far more serious conditions endured by others who have to cope with chronic pain on a daily basis.

Correct.

And apparently theres a great relationship between him and Hurts.

NYC recently put into place that robbing someone at gunpoint would only be a misdemeanor. The reason for this: because too many black NY residents were in prison for robbing someone with a fake gun or pretending to have a weapon and serving significant prison sentences when they never actually had a gun or weapon. So their brilliant idea to enforce equity standards was to lower penalties for robberies where no one was actually shot or injured, including using a real gun.

I remember reading this had a significant amount of push back and they may have reversed course on that idea, but regardless, this shows you where progressive DA's minds are right now. It's not about protecting people. It's "let's keep people out of prisons even if they deserve it in the name of equity." How about just don't rob people and you won't have to worry about it?

I have had 2 that I know of. And both required surgery.

First one, I had a bout of pain and went to the ED.  They told me what it was. Few days later met with a surgeon, and I was like hell no. Dont want a stent. I let it go for about a year. I could go weeks with no pain, and would have a minor bout here and there. Finally I got another really severe one. I showed up to work and they said I looked bad, had no color. I went right back home. Thought about pulling in to every gas station along the way because I thought I was going to throw up. Finally, had a cruise coming up so I finally wanted to take care of it so I wouldnt have to deal with that on vacation. Had laser lithotripsy, and had a stent put in. Had to go back to the office a week later for a stent removal procedure which literally caused me to have nightmares afterwards. Worst part of that whole experience.

About 5 years later had my next one. Felt minor pain when I woke up to shower before work. Continued getting ready. Got dressed. Felt it worsening. Woke up my wife and said I might be calling off. Then I thought I was going to go to work. Then it got worse again and I said I was going to drive myself to the ED. Then the nausea  kicked in and I said, actually I need you to drive me there. Never thought Id go to the ED for one again because I knew what it was. But this one was so bad I still went anyway. Was terrified of surgery again because I didnt want a stent. Got the surgery. Different surgeon this time. This time it wasnt an office procedure to remove the stent. I had to friggin remove it myself. First of all the string was like a hard wire hanging out of my D for a week. I couldnt even move. I had to hold my pants away from me every time I wanted to move anywhere in the house. Had to take the entire week off of work. Then, came the day for removal and I felt like I was in a SAW movie for the grotesque thing I was about to do to myself.

Fing A cant stand those things. And the stent is the worst part. If it was just bad pain for a day, then get the easy surgery and youre done, that would be great. Stents F everything up.

This is precisely why abroaders like me who like to go to Eagles games (etc) are thinking, nah bro, why visit somewhere that crime can be treated as an inconvenience (over and above COVID rules) and where the serious crime risk is increasing yoy? I'm no prude but I can spend my tourist $ elsewhere, like sitting on a beac, somewhere hot for a week or a nice cottage in middle of nowhere instead. I don't need to go to Eagles games, as much as I enjoy it.

Cities like Philly and NYC need to appreciate that any idiot in the world can look at their serious crime stats and make their own minds up about what is going on there, if you happen to go to the wrong place. If you can't keep locals safe, how can you keep out of towners safe?

Perception is reality.
