Off-topic: Someone broke into my apartment last night and stole my PS5 while I was home (I was in my room at the time). After filing a report, I found out the same person also broke into another apartment in my complex.

Has this unfortunate incident happened to anyone else? I’m a bit shaken up and am having trouble processing it. It’s pretty scary to think that someone easily broke into my apartment without me knowing. I am grateful that they only stole my PS5, though, because I know it could’ve gone a lot worse.

Also, no prints were found, as it seems he wiped everything down—BUT, this dumb SOB dropped his ID on my kitchen floor. I’m hopeful it’s as simple as finding the guy on the ID, but I’m not holding my breath.

Anyway, that was my Sunday morning. I hope you guys had a better one.

What???

Sorry that sucks, maybe he used his ID to Jimmy the door???

Hopefully they catch the dude

Fans do understand why DK Metcalf isn’t a perfect route runner right?   There’s a reason Megatron who was drafted in 2007 wasn’t a good runner until 2010, guys that big and that fast can’t stop on a dime and turn. Johnson eventually was the anomaly, but he also wasn’t built like Metcalf.   TBF, that’s on Metcalf, I can’t believe anyone told him he needed to look like body builder to be a successful WR.
As for his neck, he’s one of the guys you can  trust to have fully strengthened it, he was cleared for football 2 months after his surgery, to put that in perspective, shoulder surgeries are typically 3 months before they’re cleared. ACL and Achilles now are about 8-10 months,  and with Landon Dickerson, it’s just as likely that he’s an ACL surgery away from his career being over.

So I wasn't exactly the captain of the draft DK Metcalf bandwagon.  (And I'm all about the athletic/speed freaks at WR).  The neck injury, combined with his lack of agility, made me question his long-term upside as a true #1 WR.  Once he made it to our 2nd round pick...I was beating the drum to draft him, as I figured it's great value for his sheer talent.  The first 2 years of his career made it look like we might have missed on the next big thing.  Last year, some of his limitations were on display as his production leveled off.

He was still an incredible second round pick...and should have been OUR second round pick.

But why does Seattle want to move on?  1.  He has limitations.  2. They'd probably have to give him money that does not reflect those limitations.  3. They are turning over the QB position and may need both a more well-rounded WR and a WR with a longer horizon and less longevity concerns because they don't even have qb figured out.

All of those issues apply to us too...so I don't see why we'd want to invest big him Metcalf at this point.

Were you sleeping or listening to music or something? How did they get in without alerting you, was the door unlocked or a window unlocked?

I had someone attempt to break into my home several years ago. It was late at night and I brushed my teeth and was about to go to bed and I heard something in the other room. I see one of the windows partially open and a hand reaching in and smelled cigarettes. The windows have these stoppers on them that prevent them from opening more than like an inch. I yelled I just called the cops and I have a gun so you better get the F out of here, and the guy took off. It was pretty unnerving, spent the week after that making sure everything was secure.

Might've been wearing gloves and didn't need to wipe down fingerprints. Most people want to get in and out and won't dilly dally in an area, especially if he knew someone else was in the house.

Contact the police.

Interested to see how that compares to his junior year in college.

If people don't want to give up the picks it would take to get Metcalf, that I'd get. But the Eagles almost traded for Calvin Ridley and they were going to sign him to a long-term deal soon too. Otherwise they wouldn't have tried to trade for him. And he wouldn't have gotten that much less than Metcalf. So the Eagles have shown they're willing to commit big $ to WR if they're good/young enough. And if the Eagles trade for Metcalf then they obviously feel his neck has checked out. If Seattle moves him they're obviously fully committing to a rebuild, it doesn't necessarily mean they're worried about him.

And Ridley had concerns too. Not physical, but mental health issues. Ridley has missed more NFL time than Metcalf ever did, and they were ready to make a deal for him.

That sucks. Been there. I wasn’t home. But when they did i was at a calculus midterm. Came back home my two TVs, laptop and some other minor stuff was gone. Thankfully they didn’t hurt my dog and he was still there even with the two backdoors and gate open. Insurance covered it and i got an alarm and camera. a year to the date someone tried to break in alarm went off and he ran off.

At least he dropped his ID. So hopefully it helps in recovering it and finding him. I never got my stuff back and had to argue with my insurance company for months to get some money for it

First off, I appreciate the replies so far. They’ve been helpful.

Second, I make music, so I had headphones on at the time. My front door was locked, as well as the lanai door (I live in Florida now). However, he cut through the one of the screen panels on the lanai, and somehow picked the sliding door.

What’s crazy is that around 10:30 last night, it sounded like someone tried to open my front door. However, it was also a windy/rainy night, so I chalked the noise up to the wind. I don’t know if you guys have ever heard the sound of wind blowing underneath a door, but the suction almost sounds like it’s being opened—these noises happen a lot down here. Plus, my lights were on prior to me going into my room, so I never thought someone would be ballsy enough to just walk in.

In hindsight, I wish I had checked it out. But as I said, I never imagined it was someone trying to open my door.

From now on, I’m checking everything.

Sadly that feeling will be there for a while. I double lock and check all my doors before i go still even with the alarm. I’d tell you to get ring camera cause it can alert you to your phone.

Sorry that happened to you man. That’s a situation I hope I never have to go thru, it’s almost a fear of mine. I’m the night owl in the house so I’m always checking out strange noises and keeping doors locked, luckily the gun safe is just a few feet from my bed too. But just knowing a stranger went thru your possessions has to be a very weird & unsettling feeling, I’m glad nothing life threatening happened to you though and it was just theft.

My Friday night was somewhat similar.  I had to drive to the ER because I’m dealing with my first kidney stone — worst prolonged pain I’ve ever dealt with.  I was gone from 12:30am and returned at 3:40am.  My wife was away on an overnight trip with friends, but we have a guest staying with us, and 3 people broke into her SUV in our front driveway .

I wasn’t aware until my wife texted me Saturday and said our guest asked if I noticed her vehicle was broken into.  We checked the security footage and they were there at 3:10am, about a half hour before I returned home unaware.

Good thing they weren’t there when I arrived.  The footage showed our linger alarm appeared to scare them off.  I was medicated with morphine and Percocet, so at least if they’d have beaten me up I wouldn’t have felt much pain.

I think they go him or Olave with a pick in round 1.

I dont remember seeing any workout numbers for London. Did I miss it?

Im still very iffy about him and his constant lack of separation. But the video I posted last night made me like him a bit more. He looks like a smart player with a great feel for the game already the way he feels his way in to gaps in coverage.

solid.

Not that a 40 time will really convince my much otherwise. Im just curious.

He cant outrun anyone down the field. But he is dangerous after the catch because he has enough speed, at his size that hes just really hard for a DB to stop.

I think Burks is a better fit. Smith is already a good short and intermediate threat. We need a guy who can threaten deep, and London doesnt really do that.

That sucks. Scary to think someone was in your place.

You gonna get any kind of security?

Is Metcalf an upgrade over what we have? Yes

Is he worth the draft pick and then massive contract extension he is going to want? No

Metcalf is a product of Russell Wilson  and how he can extend plays. Most of his success is going downfield when Russell rolls out and launches it. Metcalf is a horrible route runner. Id rather grab someone in the draft like David Ball, Watson, Pickens in day 2 or even a top rec like Burks, Olave, or Wilson in ay 1 over trading for Metcalf

My home is a half a mile off the road , you couldn’t find it if you tried , plus   driveway has sensors so you aren’t sneaking up on anyone …if you do get to my door , you’ll be greeted by a pair of watch dogs .

I had kidney stones a few months ago. It was awful. It felt like Mike Tyson was punching my flank over and over again non stop. I’ve had worse pain, but never pain that bad that was that unrelenting. It just didn’t go away and I couldn’t get into a position to make it go away. I never had one before so I didn’t know what it was. I thought maybe my appendix burst or something so I called 911. Morphine didn’t even help the pain but it made me violently ill. My urologist told me to drink lemonade daily and drink lots of water because I have another one still in me. But I’m prone to kidney stones I’ve been told so I need to be as preventative as possible.

I read there’s this thing that’s been successful in the UK to treat stones. Basically blast the crap out of them with a hypersonic device. Hasn’t been put to market yet though.

Crime is on the rise, I suggest if you live in bad areas to invest in a firearm if you don’t feel safe. One of my biggest fears is waking up with a burglar standing over me and being helpless.

invest in alarms if you can afford it and secure your home as best you can.

Tbh i think there’s a better chance they’d trade for Brandin cooks then DK metcalf. And i don’t think they are trading for either and i don’t see either coming here at this point

When I was a kid I acted out one night and my mom made me sleep in the attic. The next day we were going on a  big family vacation to Paris (extended family included). It was such a hassle to get everyone’s luggage loaded and to the airport on time my parents accidentally left me at home thinking I was with my cousins in another car. It was pretty cool I had the whole house to myself to do whatever I wanted as a kid, until two con men tried to break in and rob the house. Thinking on my feet I was able to set up a few obstacles and was able to stall them long enough for the police to arrive and arrest them.

Crime isn't going up, there's a short-term blip due to the pandemic, but most crime occurs in poor neighborhoods. What's gone up the last few decades is media attention to crime, but the many of the same people who won't get vaccinated obsess over crime and get guns (and COVID is a hell of a lot more dangerous). Most people have no concept of risk.

Property crime is often local kids breaking into cars, houses, etc. Crimes of boredom and opportunity. You do have to keep an eye out for professionals, people going through your neighborhood "selling" something, but actually casing out houses to see who's absent - helps to get along with your neighbors and watch out for each other.

Nothing like a big dog (75 lbs plus) to deter burglars. All the dog has to do is look big and bark loudly.
