But, I agree... if Howie can get 4 starters from this draft, it would be a great draft.  When was the last time he did that?

And you just listed 4 drafts that we don't even have 4 starters from.

I’m very hungover today, got out to my first Jays game of the year last night with some buddies. Cancelled all meetings, I need to rest up before I get angry tonight

I think of @greend more like Archie Bunker

Only 31% of 1st rd picks sign a 2nd contract with the team that drafted them.

Drafting is hard. Some studies suggests it's like financial markets, where most stock pickng 'success" is illusionary, the product of luck.

lol getting the excuses ready already

Do we have a list of the fall guys for Howie's ineptitude this year ??

Well contrary to @austinfan‘s belief, I am not confident that Howie learns from his mistakes.  I believe his misreads his successes and failures. One thing he has said consistently is that the Eagles haven’t changed how they value positions.  So we know that certain positions carry more weight in building their board.   We also know he likes to look ahead at what the team is facing down the road.  So looking at this draft, we have to consider where holes will be after this season.

What is immediately apparent are the holes at DT.  But look at IOL, S and Swing OT.  Backup QB too.  Depth WR to an extent.

Howie has a history at looking at the depth of the draft at positions (and misplaying it).  Has he learned?

Now he also has a tendency of moving up for players that "drop”.  That can result in surprises.  For example, he saw that JP was breaking down and faced a draft with poor OT depth, so when Dillard fell, he reached up and grabbed him.  We all cringe that sort of move.  He also has a tendency to draft players that "dropped” due to injury on Day 2.  (If Ojabo, Booth or one of the touted but injured WRs is there at 51, a Howie pick would not surprise me.

I do believe BPA is a factor but BPA includes position, depth of the draft and needs.

So tonight I won’t be surprised at any position except LT, but the most likely are DT and then IOL unless a prime player like DE, CB or WR drops to them   And a QB wouldn’t floor me but I don’t expect it.  But Day 1 with Howie can lead to jubilation or disappointment but rarely utter disgust. Tomorrow, well disgust on Day 2 is kind of the norm for Howie.  Do I think he has learned from his Day 2 mistakes?  Not a bit.

I don't understand the skepticism toward Jordan Davis compared to that toward Travon Walker. Georgia's system hindered Walker's pass rush but not Davis's?

By broadly stroking the first round like that, you’re putting picks in the later 20’s in the same pool as top 5 guys.

The hit rate in the teens is much higher than 31%.

Must be weird being a prospect whose watching the draft from home and having 32 teams send you hats and random merch to put on if they draft you

Then your Homies get all that SWAG.

Go back a few pages and look at that long mock draft video. In that mock the eagles take Davis at 15. You can see in his highlight package, how exactly he was used, along with what GA was doing defensively. None of those guys were "highlighted" that D played in a way to stop everything and anything. I can see why Davis and Wyatts numbers werent eye popping. But watch them play. Both are freaking beasts....

Was a big Wyatt fan...until I realized he was 24 and has some personal red flags. Let him go to the Cowgirls where he belongs. Give me Davis, he's my #1 want in R1.

Really need some QBs to go early.

Carolina, Seattle, Washington...please.

You want us to draft Smoke Monday, don’t you?

I’d prefer we draft smoke Thursday-Saturday, but knowing Howie he’ll wait till Monday and blow it

Been following the PFF viewer draft that's live right now. Eagles ended up getting Olave at 15 and Lloyd at 18. That's worse than almost every mock I've seen.

Even just 1 helps us immensely. 2 would be awesome. 3 would be insane.

The mock podcast on the Eagles site was pretty good. Davis and Booth I believe.

If the Eagles draft a 24 year old LB with a first round choice, I expect to see pigs flying by outside.

Don't see it without a trade back for Carolina.  Hard to justify a QB in this class when your next pick is 137.

All the local Seattle media has been pretty consistent that Derek Stingley or Jermaine Johnson will be the Hawks pick.

Washington, who in the hell knows what they will do.

I have a feeling that no QB's will go before the Eagles are on the clock, unless someone trades up

I don't think he's learned from his Day 1 mistakes either.
