You keep saying UDFA QB like it means something. With a little more intellectual rigor you might acknowledge that there is a reason for this that has nothing to do with his ability.

It does mean something. It means there are enough issues with him that a completely QB desperate league had passed on him entirely in the full draft. If you honestly believe that Carson Strong has a chance to earn the starting job this year or next then you need to realize you have become completely detached from reality and no reasonable or sensible person outside of the echo chber hive mind of this blog would consider that anything close to a realistic possibility.

Don't be mad. I truthfully hope Hurts can be the man. I just don't think he can. The types of throws Strong demonstrated in college is far and away better than anything Hurts has shown.

I don't think Strong is the messiah, but his ceiling as an NFL passer seems so much higher than Jalen Hurts. This team is only a good, Strong cerebral passer away from another Lombardi...secondary be damned.

Your post didn't respond anything at all that I said.

Carson Strong is an undrafted rookie QB.  This team has Jalen Hurts and Gardner Minshew.  There is 0.0% that Strong wins the starting QB spot this year.  There is also no chance he is the starting QB next year.  If Hurts does not end up taking a step forward this year then the Eagles will either be trading for or drafting a QB for 2023.  They will not be factoring in a 3rd string UDFA QB into that equation.

Your boy Hurts' days are numbered, Koy. Carson Strong is the real QB1 and coming to take his rightful spot. You better start preparing for the inevitable!

I'm kidding...maybe

Blankenship lol my b. I can’t get names right anymore I give up.

I don't know if blankenship will succeed. But any scouting report you can find tells us that he is an absolutely perfect fit for this defense.  And that's a big help.

He's not really unathletic. He's not really unproductive. He's not super undersized. He just played for a small school.

I think the guy has a chance to be a player.  And I think if he came out as a junior, he may have been drafted that year in the mid-rounds.  There was a lot more buzz about him back then.

Bruh, come on. Run first QBs have never had the same success that pure passers have had in the NFL. You can't attack people for acknowledging something that is a 100 level class understanding...just because you have a man-crush on the guy.

Has it been discussed that they give Hurts the entire year, and if he fails to show enough, they move onto Strong (assuming he shows enough during camp, etc.) in 2023?

Well, your post was 90% emotional with not a lot of real substance worth a response.

I never fell into the RTK bashing, but I'm beginning to understand.

I discussed last night that if hurts gets injured or it gets to the point of where they think about benching him then i rather see what Carson strong can do rather than minshew. Would like to then see if he improves week to week and what he is so going into the offseason so if can make a decision on if i need to make the splash at QB.

It has a little bit.  If he's healthy, he clearly adds a 3rd option at the end of the year.

Dont see how you can do that. If Hurts sucks youd have to draft one in round 1 rather than relying on your UDFA who fell due to injury concerns.

Strong should get his shot this year. Needs to be able to prove himself so we know how to use those 2 first rounders.

Why not, been a few  UDFA qbs throughout the years make a name for themselves and stick around and win starting jobs

Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, Kurt Warner.

He didn't go undrafted because of his lack of ability as a QB, he went undrafted be ause he knee may be Swiss cheese, without the knee health questions he has top arm talent And would have been drafted.

I don't expect him to do much this year but hold a clip board and run scout tea or get IRed ,but next year if his knee is right, watch out he could really push for playing time.

Dude was a tackling machine in college, I have no idea how they used him but the guy isn't afraid to get dirty and hit some one.

I'm not sure he has the foot speed or hip fluidity to make it but I'll always give a guy a chance who can hit people at a high rate in a contact sport.

I still can't believe the Eagles traded for AJ Brown and got Nakobe Dean in the 3rd round.

I think talking 2023 the Eagles have shown they'll pounce on a QB they love when given the opportunity.  That opportunity didn't come this offseason. If Hurts or Strong gives them reason to love them this season then it could end the search before next offseason but I suspect they'll have an eye out then again

If i were betting I’d say they are going to go all in to get their QB of the future in 2023 offseason

If strong shows out enough in practice and pre  season and camp then maybe coaches don't draft a QB in the 1st next year

The cowboys messed around with Quincy Carter and drew Henson with Tony Romo holding a clip board, after Henson and Carter went down in flames I guess the coaches were like how bout this undrafted kid why don't we give him a chance, 4 pro bowls and multiple playoff failures later it's all in the books...🤷‍♂️

If strong won the starting job I'd hope he has better success in the playoffs than Romo and they don't ask him to hold for extra points 😕

I agree. The gray area is if Hurts improves but not that much and they win say 10 then the bar for which is considered an improvement enough to reset might go higher. i.e. maybe only the top 2 guys not the top 4.  If he sucks as a passer then they'll just get the best guy they can

Imagine Dillard plays well at RG and Jjaw at TE.. 😄

If it works, Hurts to RB will be next

Strong is playing with house money.

It's a win/win scenario for the Eagles.

He's either a graduate of the QB Factory University and nets a high draft pick in a trade or ascends to QB1 here.

Or his injury prevents any leap and he's an above-average backup.

One thing not discussed enough is how much AJ  Brown can help out not only in the run game but also the screen game.  How many screens did we throw last year to watch a corner or safety just blow up Reagor or Quez and make a tackle.  Those plays now have chances to be huge gains

Hopefully Ridder, Corral, and Willis play well enough so those teams won’t be looking for QB1in 2023, it’s unlikely and with 7-8 teams looking for one next season including the Giants and Washington, the Eagles won’t have an easy time moving up.  The Saints need to get us in the top 5. Brady needs to man up and beat them.

Assuming Hurts throws it properly.  Several failed because the ball was not placed precisely, which is critical on that type of quick-hitting play,
