Perry was fun to watch in the Shrine Bowl but I get the Hurts comp.

Seems there are a lot of one read take off running qbs in college.

I think college is doing these qbs a disservice as its not preparing them for NFL offenses, Unless that NFL team is willing to install a similar 1 read college offense, which seems they are👎

Yup, I can't imagine any top level candidates would be interested in that job.

Ownership is a wreck, the QB situation is a wreck, they should have just kept culley.

I'd trade Hurts for Davis Mills today.

Lovie is a decent hire for the Texans.

Im not sure Davis mills is a long term answer but I'd say he's a more accomplished passer than hurts.

He was very good down the stretch.  His last 5 games he was 117/171 (68.4%) with 9 TDs and 2 INT.  Their schedule finished up against the Chargers, San Francisco and Tennessee, so it wasn't quite the Murderer's Row the Eagles played to close the regular season.

Yeah, if they want to never win crap.

I like Mills. Stanford has a nice history with QB's.

I haven't really seen him play but I like his size,

Playing for the Texans with all the dysfunction and not much talent and being a rookie his stats aren't bad.

How's his swag factor?😉

I dont know where the smart football guys went, but its changed a lot since most of them are gone. Now its just a bunch of fans talking with opinions rather than good analysis. Analysis comes from twitter. Its definitely different. But still fun.

Take the time to talk with @justrelax and you learn something every time.  @FranklinFldEBUpper has a better memory of Eagles plays than just about anyone and really understands the nuances of STs play. This time of year, I really like @Original Sin’s lists because while he really misses on some, he has a tendency to find some potential gems. You could give Ghor a run on your posts on the draft.   AFan, for all his positivity posts some truths sometimes that are contrary to what is being parroted by others.  Some past bloggers went on to having their own sites. As to twitter, @ManuManu’s comments with the posts can be gems. You can find Tommy on his site. Matt on his.(This time of year, I miss the interchange with him, but it taught me to look past the rankings of the draft sites for ranking players. Take a look at his Value Board).  Sam is on twitter (as are Matt and Tommy).

Swag is basically non-existent unfortunately. His Freaky Factor is also only a .013

And that there seems to be the problem with replacing Hurts. There are no long term answers available. Possibly in the draft but even then we would still need to roll with Hurts another season, with no guarantee we won't need to keep Hurts around longer than that. That's why I'm inclined to pass on trying to upgrade at QB and see what next year brings. It's not like we don't have a ton of other needs to address and can afford to roll the dice on another project QB. We already have one of those.

I think the eagles have two project qbs on the roster

Minshew still has room for development, he's ahead of hurts as a passer but I guess the coaches feel hurts running ability gives them more of a chance to winning than does Minshew passing.

Personally I think hurts has about reached his ceiling as a passer, not sure how much better he can get.

Where as I think Minshew has shown more ability as a passer and room for improvement there

Having said that I think Davis mills shows more potential as a passer than both.

We should at least get 1 3rd round pick being he's the Assistant GM.  It's not like he's the Assistant TO the GM.

I checked out this new highlight video of Watson. Im not sure theres anything I havent seen in there but I paid attention to a few things.

In the first play of this video, I love the vision of Watson on this sweep. He could have tried going all the way outside, but that CB looked like he was going to beat the block. Watson saw it. But then, he could have made the cut outside between #24, and #2. But, that guy got blocked in to that hole, and probably would have made the play. He cuts it up off tackle and outruns everyone. He needed all of his speed there. But it was the only place where that was even possible to be a huge gain. He didnt just rely on his speed to go all the way around the edge. He chose the right hole. I bet Reagor takes that for a loss, or no gain and doesnt choose that correct hole.

I also find it hard to believe there were so many people faster than him at the senior bowl, and by 2mph. Thats a lot. I bet he never fully turned it on. Topped out in the 20mph range. I cant believe hes not 21, or 22 like the fastest guys. I think we have seen Agholor hit 21. This guy is at least as fast as Agholor.

He also is a hands catcher on the deep balls. A lot of times guys basket catch those. He brings his hands up. Thats good to see.

Seems to be a body catcher on hook/curl routes though.

At 3:50, LB #49 for South Dakota, who Im thinking must be Brock Mogensen can really move. He ended up with a bad angle after he forced Watson to take it farther outside, and did need Watson to slow down a bit dodging traffic, but it was impressive for him to get out there and make the play.

Couple thoughts from the highlights.  Mostly against real loose zones.  Not seeing smother routes or any quick twitch or misdirection to get open.  Does use his size well but you have to look at the competition. Seems to run upright. Without some modifications to his game, what you see at NDSU won’t translate to the NFL.  The tools look nice but needs refinement.  Question is does he take training or is he stuck in his ways.  Suspect, like most long legged guys, he is acceleration fast not burst fast.   Mid round prospect.

Mills definitely has more potential with his arm than either of our 2.

I just can't stomach not drafting an edge rusher day 1 or 2. In fact I would prefer we get 2 DL by the end of day 3. Also, Strong really looked meh at the Senior Bowl but I won't base my whole evaluation on 1 game.

Texans.

The Saints have a good roster + play in a tough division. If the Saints draft a good rookie QB, they can compete in both the short-term and long-term. Plus their FO is good.

Saints are going to take some hits in free agency

Board did not fall in my favor for edge rushers.  But I do like Paschal and Tyreke Smith as day 3 targets.  And their is going to be DT's available day 3 we can groom.

Yeah aren't they like 70 mil over the cap ???

They're going to have to let some good talent walk

One way to remedy that is to make Harold Landry a priority FA signing.

I think TE is an overrated need.  Especially one that high.

He was the highest rated player on the board, and there was no one else worth the pick.

Yeah too early there. Wouldn’t mind one in the 4th or 5th round.

I agree, Day 3. Whyle, Deese (Deese Nuts jersey), Turner, Ferguson, Woods, Calcaterra, etc.

You follow Coastal Carolina, at least more than anyone in here, so you probably have the best idea of him.  My take is he's more of a big WR than a true TE.  He's about 6'4" 240 and very fast for a TE as he's scored some long TDs including a 99yd reception.
