If they go with Hurts this season, it's a good sign that Howie means what he says.

If they look for a veteran QB, it means he's back to "win now" mode, if they stick with Hurts, it means he's recognizes the team needs to infuse a lot more talent and he'll focus on the draft and the waiver wire, and not short-term fixes like 2016 (when he signed a bunch of 26-27 year old veterans, which worked for three years then hit their expiration date).

If you build the team, and Hurts doesn't work out, you have a better 1st rd pick to deal for a QB two years from now, so it's a "no lose" proposition, except for the few here who want to make the playoffs at the cost of building a legitimate SB contender - because that's what trading significant assets for a veteran QB signifies - and there is no QB in this draft that I'd trust to play as well as Hurts for at least two seasons - just look at most of the top 15 picks at QB the last five years.

If they stick with Hurts they are in "win never" mode

Nice AV.  Fitting you would use the term "panties" more than once in a post with an Av like that.

Yep, put @Outlaw @Ray75 @HazletonEagle and myself in the war room, and this team has a top 10 roster in the NFL

Based on the consensus of who we wanted, our skill guys right now would be Kamara, DK and Jefferson.

Jalen Hurts wouldn't be nearly as desired to be the QB in 2022 if it weren't for hype videos and press conference speeches.

It goes to show how Philadelphians eat up complete and utter mundane meaningless nonsense.

Dude will have a game where he's like 12-25 178 yards, 1 TD 3 INTs and if he gives some winner speech in the press conference people will be like "OOOH crap I LOVE THIS DUDE, HE MY QB1!!!"

McNabb would have a game where he's 28-39, 320 yards, 3 TDs 0 INTs, but if he threw one pass into the dirt and didn't take blame for it in the press conference, people would be like "OMG, I'M SO SICK OF THIS DUDE. HE'S NOT A WINNER, NEVER TAKES RESPONSIBILITY!"

I went with Pierce to give Ridder someone he has familiarity with and some size across from DeVonta. I still love me some Rambo, don't forget I'm a (sad) Oklahoma fan.

If he is I'll start out the season watching him, but if no improvements are made I'll not finish the season watching him

If you did this this season, you would have missed a pretty fun November/December.

You sat through years of Rodney Peete, a washed up Randall Cunningham, a washed up Donovan McNabb, a washed up Mike Vick etc.

You can definitely give the young man another full season to continue grow.

Oh and pretty sure we’ll be in the playoffs again barring injuries.

Whoever wrote this represents the sentiments of about 95% of the people on Twitter who are always defending Hurts.  And it's what I have been saying about the Hurts v Wentz discussion all along.  It's a lot more to do with non football related topics.  Hell, even Joe Decamara railed on Wentz the other day and called him "some bumpkin".

F-ing ridiculous in everyway.

Yep, and a lot of us have known that for some time.   Hell, you see it with Minshew.

I know there are very different cultures in this country but why is one considered cool and the other is considered goofy?  I'm sure there are a lot of people out there who think shaving zig zag lines in your head is goofy and mustaches are normal.

Example of how his looks are perceived.  Trade: Jaguars are sending QB Gardner Minshew II to the Philadelphia ... Minshew has the goofy facial hair and whatnot

That raises an interesting point on Hurts' development, if you don't face those kinds of athletes in practice, how ready are you for them in games? You can look at film, but when you're trying to determine who is open, game speed is different and looks different - and TB probably has the fastest defense Hurts saw all year - which then causes you to hesitate. Hurts simply didn't face shutdown DBs (other than Slay, and his numbers also reflect the weakness of the rest of the pass defense), and he certainly didn't see a lot of speed.

Notice how many QBs struggled in their first PO game, it's a different game and a different atmosphere - especially if you're a mediocre team going against a top team. I wouldn't read too much into this game, and I doubt Howie and Sirianni do either - it's not that they're sold on Hurts, they're just not going to overreact to one game.

I think the last game was the SECOND time we played them THIS year. So, are you saying Hurts is incapable of processing information?

Just imagine that Carson Wentz, Gardner Minshew or even Nick Foles put up the passing numbers he did....would ANYONE want them to continue being the quarterback?  No, they would be screaming for a new QB.

Personally I don't give a flying crap who's "cool" and who isn't. Win games and get us another super bowl ring (two pretty uncool quarterbacks made that happen for us) and I'll support you

This isn't overreacting to one game, but seeing that game as confirmation of the things that we saw Hurts struggle with all year.   It was mentioned a lot during the course of the year, that the way to beat the Eagles is simple... load the LOS, force him left and make him throw.  And what did the Bucs do?  They loaded the LOS, forced him left and made him throw.   And what was the outcome?  Perhaps his worst performance as a professional.

Not exactly 'progress'.  But, he looked good when he was playing the dreck of the league and wasn't being asked to actually throw the ball much... except for that one Giants' game where they... wait for it... loaded the LOS, forced him left and made him throw.

Yep, Mahommes is awkward and goody.  Who cares, you make throws like that you can be Steve Urkel for all I care.

You all should enjoy this spring/summer and look forward to next year.

For the first time in a while, we have a QB that truly wants/desires to be an elite QB. The last time we had a QB with that desire, we won a SB. The time previous to that, we went to 4 straight championship games.

Just pray for his health.

I would much rather have Hurts and Minshew compete in camp for the job instead of just handing the job to Hurts. He didn't have any competition last year, unless you count Nick Mullens and Joe Flacco as legit competition. They simply cannot just give him the job.

Still would love to hear from you on what Hurts has displayed this season that is encouraging. I did see some improvements on his pocket awareness and staying in it a bit longer, but it was discouraging to see him revert to his old habits in the playoffs.

Excuse me, Nick Foles has ten times the swag of any QB in history.

But, he has the drive to be "elite, elite, elite".    How much better is repeating it like that versus just saying he wants to be 'elite'.

If all it took was "Drive" ? a lot more people would be professional QB's in the NFL. Ability also needs to be there- and he lacks ability.

I agree 100%.  Just referring to the article I posted about how cool Hurts is.  Like 4for4 said, you know that's how the majority of these "twitter" fans think too.

He can want and desire in one hand, and poop in the other, and see what fills up faster. What QB doesn't want to be elite? What a ridiculous assertion.

These QBs are always in competition, whether stated or unstated. It’s the nature of the position.

Hurts was terrible against Tampa. No arguments from me. He looked mentally and physically overwhelmed.

He is a much better player than that.

Oh boy.  I'm glad he wants and desires to be elite...doesn't mean he will come anywhere close to it.
