This one's starting to get some hype

Saw it last night and it was exactly what I expected. Worth the rental, entertaining, and ridiculous, but it was a lot of fun throughout the entire movie. It’s exactly as @mikemack8 forecasted - Eight Legged Freaks but darker.

I really dug it.  You are going to love it for the gruesome kills.  One in particular is an all timer.  You'll know it when you see it.  The guy who made Terrifier 2 will watch it and cry wishing he had done it.

I've seen reviews calling it a new innovation for horror and slashers and it kind of is but I think it's influence may be limited because I don't think much of what it does visually can be repeated by other films.  Visually, it's like someone made a slasher movie but has never watched a movie and only played video games. That's not a complaint, it totally works,  but I'm not sure how it will play when it's no longer novel if someone tries to copy it.

The complete lack of score with only ambient sounds of the woods is really effective.  Definitely worth the watch.

I actually stopped watching Terrifier 2 because I thought it was so bad. How bad is the kill compared to Terrifier 1 (the splitting scene)?  That scarred me for life.

More creative but less graphic.

I’ve got a man date with a couple of buddies Monday night to see it.  I don’t think they have any idea what they’re in for either and I hope at least one of them pukes.

A lot of buzz for that one and The Substance with Demi Moore.

Saw it Monday night!  My friends hated it, but they also aren’t horror movie nuts. I pretty much had to drag them to it.  Great description overall. That was one of the craziest experiences sitting through a movie I’ve been through. The tension in that movie had me biting my nails for the entire 90 minutes.  Overall, I enjoyed it.

Spoiler

The ending really pissed me off. This movie obviously went the unconventional path, but to waste an additional 15 minutes for a silly conversation comparing Johnny to a bear seemed unnecessary. I was hoping he’d come out of the woods and split them both in half.

That yoga girl kill was one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.  I was sure he was just going to push her off the cliff, but she hung in there and died in the most creative way possible.

This one getting a good amount of buzz - trailer is really good

I’ve heard nothing but praise for this so far.  Horror criticism can tend to be hyperbolic lately but I’m def looking forward to this.

OK so this seems like the right place for confession related to my horror addiction.  I may have gone a little overboard buying soundtracks on vinyl today.

Love it.  Some of the most iconic scores of all time are horror movie scores.

I just watched The Love Witch, I found it interesting, well made and a bit perturbing. Not really scary, but I'd recommend it if in the mood for a sexy witchy movie.

New release on Shudder - "Exhuma,” a Korean horror film that I thought was awesome.  Holy sheet this movie was freaky. If you can handle the subtitles, it’s worth it. @Shepard Wong, I strongly recommend, and @mikemack8, if you learn how to read, you would love it!!  The plot is obviously different, but it really gave me "the Wailing” vibes but only because I’m so R-acist, and if you haven’t seen "the Wailing,” make it next on your list.

I've heard good things about Exhuma and I really dug the Wailing so I am definitely in on this one.

I haven't had much time to post but over the past week I got to finally watch some horror.  I saw the First Omen and When Evil Lurks, both of which were really good.  I also dug Immaculate, which is probably the closest we'll come to seeing Sydney Sweeney's cans and would have been worth it for that alone but it was a pretty effective horror movie too.

I made the mistake of watching Founder's Day.  Holy crap that was bad.  Movies like that are why the slasher subgenre sometimes disappears for several years.

No idea.  I've only seen her in a few things.  Was it that HBO series she was on?

Yeah - Euphoria.  She also did some in a movie call Voyeurs.  I only know that cause a friend told me

I just assumed that she would hold that back to prolong her career since it's her best feature, not that she isn't a decent actress but those cans are special.

Both "When Evil Lurks” and "the First Omen” were great.  "When Evil Lurks” is very high on my list.  That movie was f’d up.  Also, they’re already making a remake of "Speak no Evil,” which obviously did well on Shudder and still makes me angrier that any movie ever made. It was great, but if you haven’t seen it, it will piss you off beyond belief.

Good to hear about "Immaculate.”  I may rent that tonight.
