So Nick loved it - check

Players who have all went in the past for us were Wentz, Aghy, Sanders, Matthews, and latest gainwell...so all higher picks other than gainwell. Did you see who the other teams sent to represent them or are you just being a keyboard tough ass because it's a ton of high profile picks other than ...drum roll please...Carson Strong. You can try to shake this off as much as you want, but the reality is they like the kid.

So last year a lower round draft choice went and this year an UDFA went.  You really are making way too much of the Rookie Premier.

You also misread the Nick quote.  He said that Strong called plays because that is what NFL QBs do. In college the team looks to the sideline.  So basically Nick, Shane, Kevin or Brian told Carson the play to call and he called it.  He isn’t Peyton Manning play calling.  Nick also mentioned his size and that he has a good arm. Nothing on accuracy, touch etc. because the rookie camp is about familiarizing the rookies with NFL training and techniques  That’s not Nick loving it.  Coaches rarely call out players for what they are struggling at and that doesn’t seem to be Nick’s MO at all.

Glad you are so fired up about an UDFA.  Frankly, I am more stoked about Kennedy Brooks.because as a runner he is everything Huntley isn’t. Patient, reads and follows his blocks.  Huntley doesn’t seem to have a knack for that.  Great speed but tries to take everything outside and that doesn’t work in the NFL.  That’s vision.  I wish Brooks had a second gear but he gets small to the hole and finds creases. Running style kind of reminds me of Emmitt Smith coming out of college.

I heard or read that it came down to the Eagles and Vikings.

Makes sense that he would choose the Eagles. Cousins on the backside of his contract, Mannion a free agent in 2023, but Mond, a 3rd round choice last year is sitting there and they grabbed Stanley, a well thought of player last year.  Here he has Hurts, struggling as a passer, Minshew on his final year on his rookie contract and Sinnett, a pick up during the season. Better chance to stick.

2 teams that make absolute sense too.  as much as we grief Lowie, nepotism, Howie himself, Siri and Co...the Eagles are traditionally a pretty stable franchise.  Vikings much the same, sure they have their issues as well but both teams have a potential lame duck QB situation currently.  After a year of 'medical redshirting' it's feasible he could have competed for a starting spot on both teams.

Why aren't they a contender? I mean what is a contender really? A team with a chance of making a really good play off run? I think in the NFC this team has a real chance.

Probably QB first and foremost. Still have plenty to prove. By contender, I'm talking the top few teams who are most likely to get to the Super Bowl and have everything to get there.

Built to win now, but not a contender?  Makes a ton of sense.

It makes perfect sense. They're a team that's ready to win games and compete for a playoff spot, but they're not a true threat to win the whole thing.

If Strong is just another stab in the dark, who did Philly send to the NFLPA Rookie Premiere this year? You usually don't send who you believe to be throw aways. Some names we have sent Wentz, Smith, Agholor, Sanders. Latest pick they've sent is Gainwell, and they have shown quite a bit of love to the kid.  The reviews coming out of rookie camp and the buzz is "they may have found themselves something with this kid." I think making the team won't be that hard. Winning the starting position this year, absolutely not. They will hand Hurts the job like they did last year. The one thing that nobody in this league will say is Strong has a "noodle arm" .... But somebody else just got called that @_@

Is NFLPA Rookie Premiere some huge event?  Why would that have any relevance on anything? lmao

I have brought this up before, but I fear there might be trouble on the horizon with AJ Brown.  Pretty rare and not wise to pair best friends up on the same team.  Especially when one of them is the supposed to be the "field general”.  AJ is pretty out there on social media especially when defending his BFF.  If crap goes sideways with Hurts, he doesn’t progress and we move on, we might have an issue with an expensive unhappy WR1.  I love the player, don’t like the matching up and fit with Hurts as QB.  Buyer beware.

I guess the hope is that Brown will eventually figure out that his numbers are going down because his BFF is a RB masquerading as a QB.  Maybe it will soften the blow when Hurts is gone after the season.

If you take Hurts' rushing yards out of the team total, the team's rushing record is not as impressive as the PR is saying.  If Hurts has not improved as a passer this coming season, the RBs won't have a strong season.  The offense might improve a bit due to better skilled positions, but overall would be middle of the league.

Middle of the league is about what I'm expecting. Of course nobody expected much from the 2017 team. To me this feels more like 2011 than 2017 but like they say, that's why they play the game. At least we have some young homegrown talent, there aren't many mercenaries I don't think.

I gotta do a better job of putting players in a position to win

Jeff George had a Hall of Fame arm, one of the best all-time. It's not enough.

Let's see Strong make the team, then see him actually perform in an exhibition game against 3rd team scrubs, then 2nd team scrubs, then come in a real NFL game and not embarrass himself - at that point he might be credible as Minshew's replacement in 2023.

Anyone projecting anything more at this point in his career should mail me what they're smoking - cause I bet it's really good crap.

No, a HOF arm is not enough.  You know what else isn’t enough?  A below average arm, short stature, below average feel for the game, and inability to read the field.

Many of us ask the same question to about anything you post.

The relevance is who his peers were. It's not a collection of scrubs. They could of sent Davis, Dean, anyone and Strong went.  I guess you also ignored the other parts of my post where Strong got praise from the coach for some of the things that Hurts has yet to show in either of his rookie seasons. Maybe he can learn something from a new voice in the room. Maybe he learns to anticipate and lead receivers this season... But I won't hold my breath.

Would the blog be able to handle a potential scenario where the Eagles are 5-0 or 4-1 heading into their Week 6 SNF matchup against the Cowboys in Philadelphia and NBC, playing off the nationwide hype surrounding the Eagles and specifically Jalen Hurts, have Hurts shoot a pre-game promo where he recreates the Willie Beamen music video?

What is the story line when they go 1-4 or 0-5 in the first 5 games?

I think Strong could be Minshew’s replacement in 2023 if all goes well

I’m more interested in finding out who Hurts’ replacement will be, though

The NFC isn’t as weak as people want to believe.  The Rams, Packers, and Buccaneers are still a strong top 3, and SF is still a pretty good 4th if they can get Deebo back in line.

All the other NFC teams are chasing that group.  Eagles, Vikings, Saints and Turds are middling teams until they can prove any different

So I guess we are reaching new levels of delusion where Carson Strong is seen more favorably and important than any of their draft picks.

Will Nick Sirianni be fired in season

Howie: "I think you can develop into a great great player and you're gonna have every opportunity and the rest is going to be on you."

https://www.philadelphiaeagles.com/audio/episode-340-qb-carson-strong-impresses-coach-sirianni-in-rookie-minicamp?s=09

Sirianni: "He was really sharp. He knew what to do, he knew where to go with the football. He got a big arm and you definitely can see that and so those are tools to work with. His size and his arm strength is noticeable when he's out there."

That have any relevance or no? Just face it, they like Strong more than you and a few others want to believe and if/when Hurts doesnt look the part, Strong will get an opportunity. We arent trading for Lamar Jackson or any other veteran QB. Im all for drafting a new QB but i also realize that's easier said than done when the Lions, Texans, Seahawks & Dolphins all have multiple 1st's next year, will probably be in search of new QB's and are likely to finish with worse records than the Saints & Eagles.

Strong will get an opportunity to make the roster or practice squad.  Beyond that this franchise has no intentions of him becoming anything more than that.  There is no scenario where they head in 2023 looking at Strong as their starting QB.

Because I don't care if you post here or not.  You're no one to me.   I almost wonder if your a downundermike alt to get around my ignore of him because he's the only other person that is obsessive about people accepting bets on the internet.  Total weirdo characteristic about you.  You need some online bet to justify your desire to root against the Eagles this season.

Or because you dont believe the $hit you say. You fantasized about the eagles starting 5-0 and having Jalen Hurts do a Willie Beamen pre game promo and im the weirdo? LMAO. I'll make a bet and still root for my team to win because i believe in the things i say even if i might be wrong. So when i say the eagles will start 2-4 because Hurts stinks and im willing to bet on it, that's not me rooting against my team. That's simply what i believe will happen.

That is one of his many cop outs.  Proof he is a troll, not willing to back up any of his nonsense.

He has creative excuses about why he has me on ignore, but the simple fact is the owning has been so epic he has to hide from me.

Nothing will ever top the Rueben Randle debacle.
