FBI Raids Mar-A-Largo but ignores Pop Pop's much more egregious violations

Yeah, it is a really silly argument.  Seems quite typical of Trump's legal team, total trash.  The high end ambulance chasers defending the grifter GOAT.

It's a highly technical argument based on a precedent they found which is nonsensical. I've seen other lawyers try and do this (sometimes on my behalf), and I always stop them. Judges laugh at this kinda crap.

Exactly.  A total reach.  They'll get crushed.

So Trump indeed stole our most valuable, closely guarded secrets, refused to turn them over, and did who knows what with them for over a year at MAL.

Just... not great.

BBG chat I had with someone summarizing how we got here:

VIKAS
09:47:34 They just threw everything in a box
09:47:37 And took it
09:47:39 but
09:47:50 Then when NARA said -- whoa, give that stuff back
09:47:59 The 5 year old screamed "MINE!"
09:48:02 And here we are
09:48:24 He's too stupid to know how to sell it to other people like the Russians

I wonder how many civilian witnesses with the last name Trump they are trying to protect ??

How priceless would it be if it was ivanka that turned on him…

It's bad.  I think he still thinks he is the President and somehow is above the law.  I really hope vikas is right and he didn't do anything with these docs or that he's trying to hold on to them to use as some sort of leverage against any future prosecution.

I'm 50/50 on whether he's a total maroon and had a tantrum or is just aware enough to know access to the country's secrets could be monetized while he was out of office.

A scenario where some foreign asset offers to buy one of his properties for a 50% premium in exchange for a peak at some top secret docs doesn't seem so far fetched. It's not even necessary that Trump went into this with the intention of selling secrets. All that needed to happen was for someone to know he had them. And you and I both know Trump wouldn't turn them down. All he cares about is making his next buck.

I'm not trying to be conspiratorial here. We know Trump is a sleazy con man with zero moral backbone. It's been documented for decades.

This is from the May retrieval, which is different from siginit materials retrieved in Feb, and then whatever they found now after they served this warrant. They gave this ass clown so many chances and he still kept withholding materials. Blatant defiance and absolute contempt of rule of law.

It's this, he's just a man child with the IQ of house plant.

Um...what does Obama have to do with this?

I guess when in trouble, attack the black guy is his strategy.

Oh, and yeah, any mention of nuclear info would be redacted, and the pre-raid affidavit wouldn't detail things found during the search. Because the FBI isn't Doc Brown-  -- they don't have a time machine.

He's so awful.  We gave them much-----um  they asked nicely for all of it!!!!  This scum deserves everything that's coming to him.

That particular house plant has been swindling people out of money for half of a century. If there's one thing in this world that Trump knows how to do it's defrauding someone/something out of money. It's his Rainman skill. He may be a buffoon when it comes to anything else in this world but the man can see an opportunity to con in almost any scenario.

They just threw everything in a box. President man-baby wouldn't let anyone pack or acknowledge he lost until the last friggin second, so here we are. Then NARA asked for things back and Trump had his typical toddler reaction.

I agree if someone offered him $$ for the boxes, he'd sell 'em without thought. But this wasn't a plan to take docs and sell them -- it was the same thing it always is with Trump. Gross incompetence.

You're probably right. But after so long and so many examples I think we seriously underestimate the sleaze factor with this guy.

Never forget -- you can't underestimate Donald Trump's intelligence. He was never very bright, and he clearly has been suffering from cognitive decline for a while now.

He's really good at finding people just as dumb as he is, I'll give you that.

Sounds like he planned to give them away as part of a door prize at a golf tournament

Technically, only people "appointed by the President" or heads of departments are officers of the United States is their argument. It's insane.

Also, isn't the POTUS technically an employee of the US? He gets a salary, a house. I'm guessing he actually gets a W-2. Even if Trump gave his salary to charity, he'd get a W-2 and then a write-off for the contribution. So yeah...so much for that argument.

Exactly.  He's either an employee of the US, employed by the people as the President, or he's the Employer, in which case he's a king.

This basically describes how trumpbots like Zuke, Kz, procus, ipiggles, TEW, lynched, etc become so entrapped in having to defend this utter imbecile...

Never forget that his lone brilliance lies specifically in never overestimating the intelligence of his followers.
