I had been seeing a couple tweets earlier on this subject referring to a similar case where "Reality Winner got 5 years for stealing 1 page of classified info." So in my mind, for some reason, I thought they were referring to some sort of winner of a reality TV show that somehow got their hands on classified info and was caught with it. Nope. Turns out it's a former air force officer whose actual name is Reality Winner. I'm such a maroon.

August 26, 20224 yr There is no legitimate purpose for Trump to have such classified documents. He was asked for their return. He was served a subpoena and his lawyer assured the FBI that was all they had. They were sent a letter again. Then the search warrant was issued. He had over 6 months to turn over the documents and refused. That's a crime. Now it shows he altered classified documents in his own handwriting. That's another crime. The documents are of agents in the field, oversees obtained intelligence, some of the most top secrete info there is. There is no legitimate purpose. The Grand Jury is going to indict him for this.

August 26, 20224 yr According to Trump Defenders, the President of the United States has the power to declassify any document that exists just by saying, I declassify it. So Biden can declassify the NONC list of intelligence operators for Russia , he can tell China where our Nuclear Submarines are currently located, and share with N. Korea intelligence from S. Korea, all because he can declassify any document at any time just by saying it. They don't see how scary that it is because they don't care about the democracy or the rule of law.

Even with all its redactions, the probable cause affidavit published today by the magistrate judge in Florida makes clear to me three essential points: (1) Trump was in unauthorized possession of national defense information, namely properly marked classified documents. (2) He was put on notice by the U.S. Government that he was not permitted to retain those documents at Mar-a-Lago. (3) He continued to maintain possession of the documents (and allegedly undertook efforts to conceal them in different places throughout the property) up until the FBI finally executed a search warrant earlier this month. The video of who was accessing that room must be awesome.
