Eagles had 4 drives in the second half.  One of those "drives" was a one play kneel down with 17 seconds left.  So he led scoring drives on two of the 3 actual drives they had in the second half.  No turnovers, clock control with the lead offense and a win.

Go watch some figure skating and gymnastics, better suited for what you're looking for.

Yeah, the real problem in the second half was the Eagles defense. They couldn't stop the Cardinals offense. Hell, they had them in 3rd and 17 on one series and let them convert a f'n screen pass.

But... TNF isn't an inferior product.

I hate to agree with bacarty, but this is a bad take.  It has nothing to do with Thursday night, it is the games they choose to put on.  Is it going to be a bad product if the Eagles are 7-0 when they play the Texans on Thursday night week 9 ??  Will it be a bad product when it is the Ravens and Bucs week 8 ??  Titans v Packers week 11 ??

Whether the game is played Thursday, Sunday or Monday, a bad game is a bad game.  Bears Patriots is the Monday night game next week, will that make Monday night a bad product ?? Steelers Colts week 12, does that make Monday night a bad product ??

Updating board bets

@4for4EaglesNest ( avatar bet ) has Colts at 9 or less wins, I have them at 10+.  Colts 2-2-1 with Jacksonville this weekend.  Have a couple of easy games upcoming, so still feel good about it.

@TorontoEagle ( avatar bet ) has Nakobe Dean getting DROY votes, I have him getting none.  @4for4EaglesNest start getting those avatars ready for out buddy north of the border.

@Bacarty2 ( 1 week suspension bet ) I have the Saints winning at least 5 of the 10 games starting with the Vikings, 1-1 with the Bengals, @ Cardinals and Raiders on deck, liking this one.

And the one I know everyone has the most interest in

@Bacarty2 ( 1 month suspension bet ) I have AJ Brown reaching 100 catches in his first two years with the Eagles, bacarty has the under.  AJ only needs to average 6 catches a game to close the deal this year, and needs to average 2.5 catches by the end of next year.  Feeling really good about this one, and if AJ can close it this year and I win the Saints bet above, we can be bacarty free for 1 month plus 1 week.

Back to Dicker the Kicker.  You have to think he has value to a team in the NFL.  I'm sure Howie knows that too.  Are there any rules for how long a player has to be on the 53 man roster before you trade him?

Could Howie call him up just to trade him?

If he’s on the 53, absolutely Howie could trade him. If he’s on the PS any team can sign him.

I know but is there a rule for how long he has to be on the 53?  Isn't there  rule that if you call someone up from the PS he has to be on the roster for no less than 3 weeks or something like that?

Any team could simply sign Dicker to their active roster right now if they wanted to. He’s not on our 53 man roster. He’s only on the practice squad. There’s no need to make a trade.

I’m not sure that the Eagles plan to release him from their practice squad anytime soon, however.

Nope.  He has to be on the roster of a team signing him from another teams practice squad for 3 weeks.

You can be called up and then revert back to the practice squad immediately, as the Eagles did with Covey the first couple of weeks.

No. You have it all mixed up. If you call someone up from the practice squad, they go back to it after the game. You are only allowed to call a player up (for free) three times during the season. That’s why they had to put Covey on the real 53 man roster after the Washington game. He was out of free options.

Dicker would still have two more free call ups if the Eagles wanted him. If he were to be called up against the Cowboys and Steelers, he couldn’t play against Houston unless the Eagles made a roster clearance move.

I dont think he's on the PS.. Or At least I missed him being demoted. Which might have happened, but would be silly since it looks like Elliot wont kick this weekend either

You missed it. He reverted back to the practice squad after the game. It wasn’t silly. It was routine procedure. If Elliott can’t kick this week, he can be called up again.

It gets a little involved.

Protected practice squad players

NFL rules permit teams to poach other team’s practice squad players. By doing that, they’d sign another team’s practice squadder to their 53-man roster, and he will earn a minimum of three game checks, even if he is released/waived prior to spending three weeks on the active roster.

However, new rules allow teams to protect four practice squad players per week from poaching. At the beginning of a game week, teams submit the names of up to four players who cannot be poached by other teams. A specific player can be protected an unlimited amount of times during one season.

Promotion to the active squad

At any time, a team can sign a practice squad player to their 53-man roster. However, to do so, they have to sign a new contract and make a spot on the roster for them by removing someone off the 53-man squad. If a team wanted to put them back on the practice squad, they would have to either cut or waive them first and then re-sign them to the squad, as long as they are not claimed by another team.

HOWEVER, a new rule allows teams to promote two players from the practice squad per week without the need to create a roster spot—in essence, creating a temporary 55-man roster. Those players are eligible to play in that week’s game, and they revert back to the practice squad at the end of the week without having to pass through waivers.

There is one catch. You can only use this temporary promotion twice on an individual player per season. After that, you’ll have to sign him to the 53-man roster to play them. https://www.prideofdetroit.com/2021/9/1/22651350/2021-nfl-practice-squad-rules-deadline-eligibility

This weekend is pretty stacked for collage football. Neyland gonna be rockin.

Mosher and Caplan really downplayed the chance of Mailata playing Sunday.

Bummer.

It's a long season and need Jordan. Hopefully Dillard is ready to go.

Been thinking about how to deal with Parsons in particular. Besides the obvious choice of the RO I anticipate running split zone with Stoll coming across and Power with the offside G or T pulling. If we attack him on every play with a variety of players, he's liable to get delayed simply by trying to get a read on who the guy coming to block him will be G, T or TE. That, plus the RO and simple double-team blocking is my prescription.

ELEVATED to the active roster is for PS players to play on Sunday and go back to the PS on Monday.  These players don't need to clear waivers when they go back. (The league increased the number of times allowed per player to three this season.)

ACTIVATED to the active roster means to actually be on the active 53-man roster.

I think his game never adapted to his new limitations. Dude took abuse for years and now can't outrun anyone and seems to hit his hand on a helmet once a week. Does absolutely nothing to protect himself. I would equate him to a punch drunk boxer

That is one of the few unbiased takes I've seen on here. Maybe a lack of confidence? After effects of concussions? I've wondered about the last two games last year with the Colts if his performance was a result of Covid. Apparently some people get over a Covid infection with no more after effects than a common cold, others have what is sometimes referred to as "brain fog" and other symptoms. From the CDC's web site:

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/long-term-effects/index.html

I imagine not being vaccinated wouldn't help matters any (the dumb sh!t).

Also said Maddox and Elliott isn’t no shot they play, but they would be surprised if either play against Dallas. Basically an outside chance but they don’t expect it.

Elliott is not playing this week. Dicker played well and there's no reason to rush Jake.

Maddox not being there is a blow.

Its not just injuries.  He hasnt improved a single aspect of his game since he came into the league, and he's one of the most stubborn QBs Ive ever seen.

His lack of ball security is a joke at this point.

Yes the circumstances of his career are really unlucky. But it doesnt excuse some of the rookie mistakes he makes and the baffling decision-making

I havent seen as many "Wentz moments" in Washington like we saw in his last year here or in Indy.  But I think its too late for him.  No one is going to wait for him to develop into a good decision-maker and game manager anymore.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if hes completely of the league in a couple years. I think hed rather hunt ducks than be a backup QB.

Crazy because he is was so physically gifted

I think Chachere takes Wallaces spot once his elevation status expires.  He's a valuable ST player.

That sounds like something my grandmother might like.  How is it played? Is it like football scrap booking or something?

Remember, Elliott kicked his 61-yarder in his second game with the team.

It's definitely a collection of things. Reminds me a little of the David Carr situation. Came in, everyone excited...you can see ability....and then hit after hit until they release the ball early vs stepping into a pocket giving their receivers nothing to work with. Even if they catch it (which last night seemed to be a major problem) they have nowhere to go because they play never developed. Carson will be a placeholder QB until enough young guy enter the league. Half of this was stubbornness, the other half really bad luck. It's a waste of physical ability, but that's how it goes in the NFL. I'll forever be grateful for 2017, but now it's like watching someone try to put out a dumpster fire with a handful of napkins.
