I'm looking at this schedule closer, now that the regular season is about to begin. The 1st thing I notice is the Eagles have a HUGE opportunity to get off to a tremendous start this year. Like a 7-2 or better start. My only concern is if they are ready for the start of the season, as far as how they trained. Sure, people stay healthy when they don't do sheeeet, but are they ready for teams that trained hard? This is why I get pissed at SiriSoft™ training camps. They must be ready, because 7-2, 8-1, 9-0 is staring them right in the face.

I agree.  My prediction has them going 7-2 over those first 9 games

Lions Win 1-0
Vikings Win 2-0
Commanders Win but close 3-0
Jaguars Win 4-0
Cardinals Loss 4-1
Cowboys Win 5-1
Bye
Steelers Win 6-1
Texans Win 7-1
Commanders Loss but close 7-2
Colts Win 8-2
Packers Win but close 9-2
Titans Win 10-2
Giants Win 11-2
Bears Win 12-2
Cowboys Loss but close 12-3
Saints Win 13-3
Giants Tossup 13.5-3.5

That same argument was made recently by one of the beats noting that we wouldn't have Brown or AJ if some predecessor event hadn't happened.  If, if, if.

Yea, I find the butterfly effect to be pretty fascinating when you sit down and think about how one move can drastically change everything.

Do we need to start a separate Retro Buffalo Bills Blog?

RB3?

I still remember @justrelax and I celebrating in the blog when we traded for Peters. We were stunned it only cost a 1st rounder. Peters was obviously a generational player.

We don't win the SB if we don't draft Pumphrey.  That bad pick changed the trajectory of the RB room.

He's trying to be a 2 generational player by not retiring.

If our own pick is #32 (after Minshew leads us there), then our #1 overall pick should be used on Anderson.

Anderson?  Please EDUCATE me.

They also have a negative butterfly effect.  If we had gotten the JJ ( Metcalf ) and Reagor ( Jefferson ) picks correct, we could be adding talent instead of chasing mistakes.

What looks better to you

JJ,  Reagor, DeVonta, AJ Brown

Metcalf, Jefferson, Micah Parsons, Trent McDuffie or Kaiir Elam and Dameon Pierce.

You have to be trolling, you have no idea who Will Anderson is ???

#1 - Take the QB you like best.

#2/#3 - If you like more than one QB, stay and take the next one.  If not, trade up to #1 and get your guy.

I would add #1 -  If you like more than one QB, trade down to #2 and take the next one.  If both are still there at #2 then trade down to #3 and repeat the process.  If your trading partner for #1 is clearly going for a non-QB then you cacn trade down to #3 or #2.

The Eagles needs are very likely to be both QB and Edge, so trading with a team that covets an Edge player would be ideal.

Taking your QB of thew future allows you to ride out Hurts contract year and not be forced to start a rookie QB in 2024.

The clear advantages of taking the QB of the future are that Howie can let Hurts walk and then have the team's QB on a rookie contract for four full seasons.

Mega hyped edge rusher. Will be the first non-QB taken. Plays for Alabama

Here @mattwill a decent little primer

The Saints' season will hinge on a few things:

-- Is Dennis Allen a better head coach now than he was with the Raiders?  He was awful there

-- How much has Pete Carmichael perfected Payton's philosophy?  One would think there will be a drop-off, but how much?  Curious that Carmichael never gets much HC buzz

-- Does Jameis Winston revert back to TB Winston?  I think yes, and wouldn't be surprised if Dalton is the QB later this season.

I think they will be worse than most predictions I've heard, but I can't imagine they can be as bad as the Bears, Seahawks, Jets, Lions, Texans, or even Jags.

Using @Alphagrand's predictions as a benchmark, here they are sorted in season record order

1 Bears 2-15
2 Texans 3-14
3 Seahawks 4-13
4 Falcons 5-12
5 Jaguars 5-12
6 Jets 5-12
7 Lions 6-11
8 Giants 6-11
9 Panthers 7-10
10 Browns 7-10
11 Steelers 7-10
12 Patriots 7-10
13 Cards 8-9
14 Saints 8-9
15 Commanders 9-8
16 Raiders 8-9
17 Colts 8-9
18 Eagles 10-7
19 Chargers 10-7
20 Broncos 10-7
21 Ravens 10-7
22 Dolphins 10-7
23 Niners 11-6
24 Vikings 11-6
25 Bucs 11-6
26 Turds 11-6
27 Chiefs 11-6
28 Bengals 11-6
29 Titans 11-6
30 Packers 12-5
31 Rams 13-4
32 Bills 13-4

My hot take is that this team gives Reagor his first 100 yard game in week 2

Slay, Bradberry and Maddox could be out with injury.

Jefferson and Thielen could both be out with injury.

Reagor could be the #1 option and he still wouldn't sniff 100 yards even with all those guys out.

Unless he got some 90 yard fluke, broken coverage play.

That left hand,  and the ball never move.  He maintains control that he had before it touched the ground,  even after it touches the ground.

Not astute enough yet.  Keep reading.

This is the NCAA rule:

1. Secures firm control with the hand(s) or arm(s) of a live ball in flight
before the ball touches the ground, and

2. Touches the ground in bounds with any part of his body, and then

3. Maintains control of the ball long enough to enable him to perform an act common to the game, i.e., long enough to pitch or hand the ball, advance it, avoid or ward off an opponent, etc.

His second hand initially was on the ball and came off of the ball and it seems pretty obvious that the ball moves while he's sliding across the ground.  Once his second hand comes off the ball and the ball moves it's not firm control.   I know you think it didn't move but it did and the refs had a much better view than what we are going to see online.

And I posted a pretty clear picture of his right hand not on the ball and his left hand pinning it to the ground.

Minnesota is not going to be easy, you know Justin Jefferson is going to come out and be sure that everyone is clear we made the wrong choice, and you know Reagor will have some type of impact on the game, just because that is how these things work out.

@Detroit, week 1, you never know.

@Washington will be interesting, and Wentz will probably have his best game of the wear that week, just because that is how these things work out.

Then you get Doug Pederson the following week.

Week 8 after the buy, Steelers have the personnel to do exactly what Tampa Bay did in the playoffs to Hurts, but do they have enough offense.

I think 4-3 after the first 7 is realistic.

The last time the Steelers won in Philly was in 1965. Now that they are questionable at QB, they are coming in after the bye, and are probably at the weakest they have been in years, they are going to win?

I highly doubt it.

I think so many are high on the Eagles because the first half of their season, at least on paper, looks pretty easy.

I have no dog in this fight, not a Penn State fan.  IMO that was not a catch.

I suspect I hate Penn State as much as anyone here. I didn’t watch the game. After hearing about the catch this morning, I looked at it. And even this longtime Nittany Lion hater had to admit that wasn't a catch. Yeah, his hands touched the ball before it hit the ground, but the ground helped him secure it. That’s an easy overturned call.

Remember when Tampa Bay couldn't win a game below freezing?

He had the ball in both hands not moving. It then touched the ground but he already had it secured. Whats more, when it did touch the ground, even though he took 1 hand away the ball STILL didnt move. It never moved in his grip at all. It was a clear catch and easy call to make. Refs couldnt have been more wrong. Embarrassing to be so wrong even after having the benefit of the replay system.

Well, we know you dont watch college football so Im not surprised you dont know these players.

Maybe they should fine referees for being so blatantly wrong.

Yeah but at least there was an argument there. They were a good team.

Even if he was open by 30 yards on a broken coverage............

............he'd probably drop it.

Steelers won the Super Bowl after the 2008 season.  They lost to the Eagles in Philly 15-6 that year, what is your point ??
