We are second in the league in sacks.  The defense is first in turnovers, second in yards allowed per game, and seventh in points per game.

Please elaborate on what 'more' would look like.

Consistency?  It seems they come in bunches and then go quiet.  That's all.  I'm  not complaining here and I think it's come off that way.  Just looking at the overall amount invested in the DL.

You don't get bonus points for not needing street free agents. They matter too (to every team).

Agree.  I was just saying that the street FA were needed to help our $14 million DT play better halfway through the season.  Again, not complaining they are here.  Very happy they are.

I think those numbers are a bit misleading though because their big dogs go stretches without making a play.  I just want more consistency.  I don't want a 20 sack/year guy but I would like more substantial starters I guess.  I think Fletcher Cox has tainted my view on their DL investment.  I think he should have been gone 3 years ago and I hope they learn their lesson with him on how they handle Hargrave.

It also seems their DL, as high as the sack number is, isn't dominant.  I need to stop comparing to JJ days because as good as his pass rush was, that defense was equally as frustrating.

Again, I'm not complaining where they are right now.  I'm thrilled with the team.  Outside of the penalties, yesterday's game was so fun to watch.  I'm just doing out loud thinking of total investment in certain areas.  Next year will be interesting to see what they do with Cox, BG, Hargrave, Barnett.  Some serious retooling will be going on.

I would let all 4 of those guys go unless they are cheap. D Line will look very different next year. Like to see more of Robinson by end of year. Have faith Howie will fill those needs just fine. Saints high pick is going to need to be diced up into many future picks to keep this rolling. I can see Howie drooling right now.

I don’t think the numbers are misleading at all. We’ve been frustrated for years that we we would get pressures but not sacks. Now we have the sacks.

Id bet you that every team in the league has ebbs and flows in terms of sacks coming in bunches. Turns out our highs are higher than most, and lows aren’t as low. Howie has used a lot of resources to build the line, but it’s paying dividends here and now. Worry about next year and beyond when the last snap has been taken this season

@TorontoEagle @RLC @Connecticut Eagle  let me emphasize that I'm very happy with this team and the defense's overall performance.  Again, just looking at snap counts and such vs. the investment it looked alarming to me.  I love to look at how teams are put together and figuring out the puzzle.  Roster analytics are fun to me and it probably comes off as whining about things when I'm just looking that the big picture and asking about how it's done.

I'm enjoying this team.  Being honest, I'm worried about how this defense will look next year but that will be fun to watch what they do in FA/draft/trades.

I wonder if he falls to the niners if they take a shot. If there was a team with weapons and coaching that could try to maximize him it’s the shanahan and the niners.

I know Gannon likes to catch a lot of flack on here, but the defense has given up double digit points only three times in the second half this season including once in the last six games. Their second half adjustments have been really good.

Not sure Gannon likes it or is even aware of it.

Gannon has a defensive style that flies in the face of what many of us were brought up with for a defensive philosophy.  Most of us really cut our teeth on Buddy Ryan's defense of attack the passer... and JJ did as well.  Even Schwartz to a certain extent had a bit of that with the 'NASCAR' package back in 2017... though he was far less of a blitzer, which caused many consternation.   Gannon isn't a blitzer.  Gannon wants teams to have to march slowly down the field and score on long drives, giving the defense more chances for the offense to shoot themselves in the foot with a holding call, a false start, etc.  And it is working to keep the scores down.   Allowing under 19 ppg is an impressive number in 2022 NFL football.  He's getting the job done, even if we don't like the style.   They aren't easy to run on with the new beef added and Davis back.   They aren't easy to pass on outside with Slay and Bradberry.  They are more vulnerable over the middle with the nickel, LBs and Safeties (without CJGJ).  I like their chances to keep scores close enough so that if the Eagles are down, they won't be down multiple scores often.  And keeping the team within one score means they always have a chance.

And a one score game also means that Hurts' legs can keep the chains moving in two minute drills if needed... as long as they have timeouts in their pockets and a decent amount of time.  Not sure about Hurts leading the team down the field like Allen or Mahomes in a 30 second situation with zero timeouts.  BUT... they don't always get it done either.

The sacks don't come as much when they are playing the run on the way to the pass.

Yesterday we had 1 sack in the 1st half.

Then,  up 21-10 beginning the 2nd half Tennessee had to be a passing team,  and the sacks came in bunches.

We won't get a lot of sacks in close games.  We will get a lot when we are playing with a lead.

Expect the Eagles to have extra compensatory picks in 2024 for potentially losing most of Hargraves, Cox, Seuamalo, Epps, Edwards, White, Bradberry & CJG. Think he's gunning for more picks in 2023 and to add to 2025 with the Saints pick. This game tonight is huge.

There's no way the Eagles can lose all those guys and field a team... without signing some free agents... which will cut into the compensatory picks formula. Don't forget Sanders is also a FA. So is Graham. Lots of spots to fill on the roster for next year.

Saw a report yesterday the cap might be $220 million next year.  Should help a little.

For those that still care, Birds with Friends brought up Noah Elliss. They said he’s still on the team and still on IR but they never saw him in the locker room once all year.

I'd be shocked if they didn't. Even if they want to move forward with Purdy, they need a backup.

I could see a team like the Rams put in a waiver for him. Not only because Stafford is out but also to give the big middle finger to the niners.

Josh Johnson was picked up. But got to believe baker has more upside than Johnson.

Possible. I was thinking seattle could as well just to block him from going to SF. They were also interested in him this offseason.

We will keep a couple of those guys, but not most. They are gonna cost bigly, especially if they win it all. They will cash in. I'm expecting most of the older guys to be gone.  And keep a couple of the younger guys. Our core offense is set pretty good. The defense will have a lot of transition.

Why do I get the feeling Lynch worked something out with CAR?  I would laugh if someone else claimed him to keep him away from SF
