It comes down to how many runs they are going to give up. Clevinger is not a good starter especially on the road. Their bullpen besides Martinez, Suarez and hader is very hittable. And the Phillies are pretty locked in hitting wise right now. It’s why I figured they didn’t want Martinez going to first inning cause they wanted him for the fifth and sixth inning. And then Suarez and hader to finish it out. if they had a lead at that point in the fifth it was going to be really hard for the Phillies to come back.

The Phillies aren’t goong to have Alvarado and Dominguez fresh. Threw a ton of pitches last night. So as good as they’ve been, you’re not getting them on an off day. So you gotta hope that you can at least score off them when they aren’t fresh. I don’t know if they go 4 innings combined out of both of them but I’m guessing each one of them gets an inning.

October 23, 20223 yr I'm more than a little worried about Thor's flat fastball against Soto and Machado. May not be incredibly easy to keep those in the park.
October 23, 20223 yr I’m guessing we are about to see some order of dominguez, Alvarado and Robertson over the next 3 with a possible guest appearance by nola

I’m doubting thor faces soto. I’m guessing they try to use Alvarado when he comes up. If they get the first two batters means can use Alvarado for just soto and if he gets him out then 8th and 9th could go Robertson, dominguez and nola

We've regretted each cute pitching decision so far tonight. If Thor can survive the next inning...and his pitch count is very low...6 outs from the pitchers you mentioned feels a lot less intimidating than 9.

Once it gets to soto I’m guessing we go lefty vs. lefty

If we are really going to get into the weeds with the minutia...if Avalrado isn't so fresh tonight, then his night is probably over at the conclusion of the inning if you bring him in for Soto. Even if the pitch count is low, it's tough to bring a low rest single inning type reliever in for a few pitches, let him cool off on the bench, and then bring him out again. I'd want to count on Thor/Avalrado combining for the 7th only. I'd be prepared to look elsewhere for 8/9.
