They have decent pen arms but they are hittable outside of Suarez and hader. Really their plan was to get to the 5th and go big arms of Martinez, Suarez and hader to finish it out. Using Martinez this early was likely not their plan. Their pen has been good but really Suarez, Martinez and hader have been unhittable. Other guys are like what hand and bellatti are for the Phillies.

October 23, 20223 yr When you need to survive bad pitching, the key is no walks. Sometimes hard hit balls are outs. Solo home runs don’t kill you. Stringing together base hits is never easy. Even bad pitchers should be able to avoid the walks.

October 23, 20223 yr Martinez is eventually gonna get gassed. He hasn’t thrown over 32 pitches in 2 months. I’m guessing realmuto is his last batter he faces although realmuto with an awful at bat there likely keeps him in the game.

The best model to win in October is pitching, pitching, pitching. But the problem in the last decade is that pitching doesn't stay healthy and has shorter careers than it used to. So it's easier said than done to just dump resources into 24 year old flame throwers who will soon need Tommy John and will be throwing batting practice at 28.
