The fact Thomson got lucky last night probably led to this stupidity of saying he can get me one out and i can save my good arms. And now the game is likely out of reach

I want to disagree with point 2. It's baseball... theoretically, no lead is truly out of reach. Its about outs, not time. But, this offense isn't clicking like they can score runs on demand like they were early in the season.

You can think they’re coming back I’ve seen this story the last 2-3 So like I told you last night, I’ve seen three run leads mean nothing. I’ve also seen when they get down and something bad like this happens they tend to roll over and die. Even last night they got good fortune with the passed ball and still managed to eventually roll over and die if they weren’t in this prolong slump, I would agree with you. But based off how their past three weeks have gone, this is where about they don’t get a hit for the rest of the game. and I’d love to be wrong on this.
July 31, 20242 yr Really good communication by the Yankees there. That would have been 2 bases otherwise.

We've all seen what this team is doing. But, if I was going to doom and gloom, I wouldn't even tune in... there's no entertainment value in just being negative. I didn't watch the end of the Sixers season for that very reason. It was just going to piss me off, so I found better things to do. Gotta expect that at some point, they will will break out of this slump. This isn't who they are. Harper isn't a 1 for 30 player. He'll snap out eventually, and when he does, it will likely lift the whole team out of this.

So your lineup isn’t very good anyways and it’s struggling. So you making a dumb decision just compounded the situation even more. you have an off day tomorrow. So besides Hoffman who pitched 2 innings yesterday should be available. You should have actually gone to Jose Alvarado. And try to get that one out. Because he is going to be asked to be used in a high leverage situation in the playoffs and down the stretch. you can see if he’s fully back. Going to Ruiz was the worst Fing decision he could’ve went with. Especially because it’s back to back games so the Yankees have seen him just the night before and he doesn’t have great stuff like Alvarado. Or even banks who you just traded for. I could understand seeing if he can sink or swim in high leverage situations. But Ruiz is just dumb
July 31, 20242 yr Gonna come down to hays and harper doing something. and like clockwork the Phillies go 0-2 with RISP and now 1-6 on the day.
July 31, 20242 yr Thank you Castellanos. Stott starting to catch fire. That is good. We could use him with Turner and Harper being bad right now. there it is. Marsh striking out on 4 pitches with a chance to give us the lead. 2-8 with RISP. Castellanos 2-3. Rest of the team 0-5

July 31, 20242 yr And there it is. Bryce going 1-30 with the game ending DP. 2-9 with RISP. the Phillies go 1-5 on the home stand with a 10 game west coast road trip. This is going to be really painful
July 31, 20242 yr I mean they can pay me a fraction of what they're paying Harper to suck complete ass.
July 31, 20242 yr @Captain F needs to change the motherf'ing name of this thread....ever since the "they are good" was added to it, they've sucked donkey balls!!

Even with a 1-5 homestand, they are still +17. Cleveland just passed them at +18, KC & LAD are +14, and Atl & Mil are +11. Phillies had been +21 going into this homestand. The long and the short of it is... this isn't the Phillies. There are a handful of guys that are all slumping at the same time, and it looks ugly. Baseball is a really long season. If they keep this up through August, then its time to get desperate.

Braves depending on the outcome today are either gonna be back 7.5 or 6.5 games and they got the marlins for 4 games coming up If they go on this road trip and are 2-8 or 3-7 you should start to worry. It would be nearly 2.5-3 months at that point where you’ve been average to below average. They currently are 28-29 in their last 57 games (Rockies series when they began to have lapses and have these inconsistencies). Thats over a 1/3 of the season. By the time they get done that road trip it will be 67 games since they started 37-14. Thats 42% of the season. the schedule isn’t much easier for the rest of the month when they get back outside of the marlins for 2 and the Nats for 3. i think they are better than this. However I’m willing to also say they aren’t nearly as good as what their 37-14 record was either.

They didn't win it in 2022, and got to the WS. They didn't in 2023 (nor did the D-backs) and they got to the NLCS, and the D-backs went to the WS. What they do in October is what will define this season... not July or August.

Problem is it's the same team that couldn't hit both those years and the same manager who sucks at situational awareness when it counts. They aren't winning crap because you can't do so depending on the HR and that's all they have.

Very few teams in the last two years can complain about how their bats went ice cold in the WS and LCS in consecutive years. The Braves are dealing with the disappointment of their bats going cold against the Phillies, the Dodgers about choking in the DS in back to back years.

I think the field of WC teams is going to be much better than the marlins last year. Dbacks are about to get merril Kelly and Eduardo Rodriguez back. They’ve been treading water til they did and frankly they know they can beat you cause they did last year. The padres are hot right now but they’ve always had talented rosters and their bullpen might be top 3 which will very much help them. The Phillies beat them up in April when they were a disaster. And frankly we got super fortunate to win 2 of 3 in June against them. We really played poorly in two of those 3 games but managed to win one. Really you better hope you don’t wind up facing those two or even Pittsburgh who’s got the staff to upset you in a 3 game series. you might have to go on the road to play those teams if they continue to play like they have and you wind up in a race with them. And you haven’t played well in AZ for much of the last 6 years. benefits of winning the division is you likely avoid a 3 game series with dbacks, padres or pirates. i think the NL WC field is going to be much better than year’s past so avoiding short 3 game series is pretty vital. Also if the Phillies falter enough to lose the division it tells me they aren’t playing good baseball going into the playoffs. At least last year and the year before they were hot much of the second half of the season. Not going into it playing poorly enough to blow a double digit lead
