The 49ers must have said that to themselves with the stupid ish they did in that game. They played arrogant and like the moment was too big for them.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Jalen Hurts is unbelievable.  He goes out there and beats the 49ers to get to the Super Bowl and then he follows it up at night

They were probably smelling themselves all season hearing about how great their streak was with a 3rd string rookie QB 7th round draft pick.  The truth was, they were beating up on lightweights from an easy second half season schedule.  Dallas was the best team they faced all year and they nearly lost to them.  The game was 9-9 in the 3rd quarter.

If they were so overconfident they thought they were going to travel cross country and beat a 14-win team on the road then I have no sympathy for them.

You are still hung up on the absolute necessity that an NFL QB should be first and foremost a passer.  Even with Hurts having a very bad day passing what we saw was how Hurts affects the opposing Defense … making them less effective.  The play that epitomizes that best is the Gainwell touchdown.  Hurts "froze” the best linebacker in the NFL Fred Warner so that he took himself completely out of the play.  Burrow is never going to do that.  Mahomes can, and does, me rig that kind of attention.

Bottom-line, even when he is personally having a bad game, Hurts makes the rest of his teammates better.

I’ve mentioned this in the past, but the funny think about a running QB is that they have both a higher ceiling and a higher floor, both in overall potential as a player and as it relates to their play on a game by game basis. Not only do they force schematic adjustments by the defense, but the running element is an easy, highly replicable tool. Your WRs or OL might have a bad day, your QB might be off throwing the ball, but if a running QB sees daylight it’s a near 100% conversion on that potential yardage.

That’s in addition to the schematic impact on the defense.

i think neither of these games have really been close by halftime so i don’t have to be nervous during games

I’m thinking moreso going into the games.

I’m never fully confident going into games because I tend to be a pessimist, but I don’t know how anyone can be less comfortable with this team going into the game against KC versus the 2017 team going against New England. They’re favored as of now against KC, you can make a case that they’re the better team, they’re healthier than they were in 2017, and they’ve smashed back to back opponents. It feels like they’re in a better spot now than they were five years ago.

Not saying I’m less confident in this team, it just doesn’t have that 2017 vibe. The underdog masks, we all we got we all we need etc just hit different than "it’s a Philly thing”.

I am a little concerned about Gannons D going against a Superstar QB though.

Having watched the game again, we kicked their ass.  And they imploded under the stress.

HORRIBLY COACHED.

1) you left a backup TE on Reddick. You disrespected the real DPOY (or certainly close to DPOY) and he broke your guy.

2) You didn't challenge when you needed to.

3) Your O was undisciplined with LOS penalties.

4) Your vaunted D couldn't stop the run as we continued to wear you down and kept punching you in the mouth.

5) You could have sucked it up and just gone 11 on 11 and run the ball w McCaffrey at QB.  If you are all that and a bag of chips then just slug it out.  Do something. (admittedly would need the D to stop us too and didnt)

6) your D a became more and more undisciplined and cost you time and again.

Suck suck suck on it.

Agreed.  Plus, waxing a team that had no QB may give the team a level of confidence that is not accurate.

Eagles are the home team, I see no reason for them to not wear green.

Yes. Agreed.  Inarticulate of me. The Chiefs were saying they would be white. Therefore, we would be green.

The first year of Jalen's new deal, there is already 6 QB's with more than 17% of the cap on the books.

Their cap hits could change by 2024 and the cap could also be higher than the projected $235mm right now. Fairly large jump from 2022 to 2023, and now there's 18 week regular season, an extra team in the playoffs, and more international expansion on the horizon. Browns really Fed everything, and I hope it blows up in their face.

Same for me on everything you said, especially Gannon vs Mahomes & Reid.

obviously very excited for the Super Bowl, but nothing will top the magic of 2017. To add to that, I hated the patriots so much & wanted us to beat them so badly. In contrast I actually like the chiefs for a lot of reasons, and if there was any team I’d be ok with losing to in the Super Bowl it’d be them

2024 has a ceiling of 256 million.

I don’t know if I can ever be ok losing a Super Bowl to anyone. I think this one is very important since we were a top team all year and now is the chance to shut up everyone with the "who did they play” or equally idiotic takes. Plus you know there’s people out there that consider 2017 a fluke. This puts it’s all to bed.

Would be really cool thought that in our first superbowl win we beat Brady & our second Super Bowl win we beat the new QB prodigy in Mahomes

hoping the veteran leadership on this team puts those thoughts to rest

Agreed.  Even at 75%, Mahomes is by far the best QB we are going to face this year.

It’s more of different kind of pain, a more tolerable loss. If Brady beat us 5 years ago, I’d be legit upset,  probably need a couple hours to myself, and wouldn’t have the best week. If Chiefs beat us I’ll be bummed but I can move on quickly & I’ll be happy to see Big Red get another one, and I also really like Mahomes/Travis Kelce so I’d be happy for them too.

But yeah, I’m tired of the takes that we haven’t beat anyone good. It’s why I hope Mahomes is actually healthy for the game, that way if we win I don’t have to hear people question the legitimacy of the Eagles path to being champs. Also am tired of hearing "congrats on your only Super Bowl win” from people.

Which site is better to look at? I was looking at spotrac and I see $235mm.

Well, the NFL announced a ceiling of 256 million more than a year ago, so if spotrac is using 235, I would go with OTC.

They seem to be more accurate across the board yesterday.

OTC has called them out a few times too for blatantly copying them without giving credit

If Eagles beat the Chiefs and beat them as convincingly as the Giants and 49ers then I think they have to be in the conversation for one of the best teams of all time. They would be 17-1 with Hurts for the season with the only 2 losses coming with a backup QB who provided a huge drop off at the position.

I'd be interested in seeing what the largest point differentials were for teams in the postseason heading into the Super Bowl because this Eagles team has to be near the top of the list for that.

Idk. I think I’m more confident knowing what I’m gonna get going into games. With how wentz got hurt and up and down week to week with foles i didn’t know if I’d get Vikings patriots foles or giants/falcons foles or raiders foles
