He's under contract for 2 more years.

I edited my post since you're the 2nd to reply with this

I was asking if he'd get paid like a DE or a LB when he gets a new contract

Ertz was used more as a weapon. Goedert has been used for everything but not as big of an impact as a weapon since Hurts has Brown and Smith. Difficult to compare IMO

Did they compare the TE group or just the starter?  2017 had the better group overall.

I honestly didn't read the article. I just went off what @we_gotta_believe posted

Apparently Huntley made it in above Lawrence. The whole thing is dumb. I haven't watched a pro bowl in years, but I don't see how the NFL expects to increase viewership when they do stupid stuff like this. Maybe Andy Dalton or Daniel Jones will get the nod to replace Hurts.

Lawrence is in it for Mahomes. Huntley is in for Allen. Carr apparently made it per his agent so I guess Burrow backed out. I think Tua would be in over Huntley but he's still in the concussion protocol. It's dumb Huntley made it but with Lamar hurt plus everyone else, he's like the 9th or so option at this point.

Lawrence was named already to replace Mahomes.   But, it is amazingly dumb.  Huntley even being considered indicates the true nature of the beast now.  Just name the team like All-Pro and leave it at that.

PFT deduces that Lawrence was second alternate and Huntley fourth alternate

Needing so many alternates is insane, firstly.   Secondly... there aren't 7 better options in the AFC than Huntley?  I find that hard to believe.

Tua should retire

Not something that needs to be worried about with the Super Bowl matchup just 12 days away.  Great conversation topic for the offseason though.

With Tannehill, Deshaun Watson, Mac Jones missing significant time… if you played most the of the year in the AFC you got a default invite. Waiting to hear that Russell Wilson is in

Should have given it to Russell Wilson. That would have been hilarious.

Beat me by 1 second

Disagree.  The game winner was him beating a safety... man to man for the TD.

But the TE position isn't just one guy.  It wasn't just one in 2017 (they ran a ton of 13 personnel, actually) and it isn't with this team either who still run a lot of 12.  The full slate of TEs in 2022 aren't even close to what the 2017 room had to offer.

I think Goedert is better with the ball in his hands, and I think he can be used in more routes and play designs than Ertz could. Ertz was superior at route running and hands.

Now you factor in blocking (which I think is a significant part of a TEs grade) and it’s no contest.

If it wasn’t for Kelce this year, DG pre injury was certainly in the convo for best TE in the league. Ertz never got into that conversation, the only time he kinda did was his 100 catch season (which I chalk up to a lack of other options more than anything)

I think goedert is far better than Ertz. Ertz was an unreal zone buster, but that was it. DG blocks, is physical, can turn screens into big plays, can catch downfield as well. The only real issue I have with DG is untimely drops on what should be easy catches.

I think Ertz was somewhat inflated because there was not many other options around. It was like that one season Jordan Matthews put up "decent” numbers.

lol no

Russell Wilson, Teddy Bridgewater, Skylar Thompson, Zach Wilson, Mike White, Mac Jones, Deshaun Watson, Jacoby Brissett, Kenny Pickett, Matt Ryan, Miles Davis, Ryan Tannehill are the other's not injured or already in.

lol, so the AFC is on their 9th best QB?!?

Huntley has as many pro bowls as Matt Stafford now.

Looks like Goff replaces Hurts

Ok.  Just cancel the game then.

I think you are completely misremembering what Zach Ertz did here.

I'd take 2017 group of TEs and RBs.  All other positions/groups are 2022 for me.  Well, except for punter which goes to 2017.

Foles QB play in those 3 playoff games stands up to almost anyone but you can't just compare passing stats and move on when dealing with Hurts.

Foles had 971 yards passing in that playoff run, Eagles need 289 yards in the Super Bowl for their total offense in the playoffs to match Foles passing yards.

Eagles need 479 yards in the Super Bowl to match the total offense of the 2017 Eagles playoff run.

Through 2 playoff games, the 2022 Eagles total offense is 87 more yards than Foles passing yardage through two games.

Man, I know they were scraping the bottom of the barrel for players, but I didn't think they'd resort to exhuming corpses to fill out the lineups.

The TE Trio of Ertz, Celek and Burton were better than Goedert, Stoll and Calcaterra.  Not even close, honestly.

I think there's an argument to be made that this group are better blockers on the whole.

Whatever the hell that giraffes name is in Houston

Plus Josh Allen isn't backing out because of injury but becasue he would rather play in a golf tournament. And I don't blame him.

I think you’re letting nostalgia cloud your memory, and are severely undervaluing Goedert

I think Goedert and Andrews are the two fighting for 2nd and 3rd best TE, and both are better than Ertz ever was.

On the NFC side

Hurts = Goff

Sanders = no replacement named

Brown = Amon-Ra St. Brown

Johnson = Sewell

Dickerson = Elgton Jenkins

Kelce = Biadasz

Reddick = Hunter

Slay = Ramsey

RBs are close for me but Blount would be devastating behind this line and adding him over Sanders makes sense.  I don't know that I would take Ajayi and Clement over Gainwell and Scott at this point.
