I’d give it to 2022 because Brown and Smith would toast Mills and Darby

2022 pass rush might also kill Foles

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Kelce and it’s not close. Kelce has no equal, nobody even close to him in receiving ability and YAC ability. And he’s not as bad a blocker as I think many in here think. He will be the best TE ever, only rivaled by Gronk, who would be better if his career lasted longer.

Id slot Kittle 4th….very similar to Goedert, but unfortunately Kittle is just too brittle to rank higher. Kittle is a better YAC guy than Goedert. I think DG is a better blocker.

What happened to Tony Gonzalez?  I'd put him ahead of Gronk

Goedert has only played 2 more games since entering the league in 2018 than Kittle.  If Kittle is fragile, then I suppose Goedert is as well.

But, I'd say that you are underselling TJ Hockenson in the current rankings of TEs.  That makes sense since he was mired in Detroit, but I think he's easily in the conversation.

Hurts over Foles
2017 RB's slightly over 2022 RB's
2022 WR's all day
2017 TE's only because they were deeper - Ertz/Celek/Burton were dynamic as all hell.
O-line....I go 2022 only because all else being relatively equal, Mailata >>>>>>>>> Vaitai

2022 defense across the board

K is a wash

P is Jones all day.

It's ok to say the 2022 team is better than the 2017 team lol

You don't lose fan points or disrespect the first SB lol

I can't put Hurts over Foles. Hurts probably has more talent but Foles played lights out in the Super Bowl and won a shoot out against Brady.

Yes. I think between DG/Kittle/Andrews you could put them in any order.

Ertz is a more reliable receiver but Goedert is far more dynamic after the catch.  Goedert is also a far better blocker than Ertz was and that's important in this offense. I see that as a wash.    I would take Stoll and Calcaterra as blockers over Celek and Burton.  Celek and Burton were both better receivers at this point in their careers.  I don't think Celek ever was a good as Goedert as a receiver but he was good.  I don't think he was the same player in 2017 as a blocker or receiver.

Celek was a much better blocker than Stoll.

As far as Celek as a receiver... lest we forget that in 2009 it was Celek who nearly became the first Eagles' TE to break 1000 yards.  Celek should have been a Pro Bowler that year, but he was blocked by the reputation of the 34 year old Tony Gonzalez, who was a figment of what he had been.  In 2017, he wasn't the same but he could still be counted on when needed.  Burton wasn't a great blocker, but he made up for it with his versatility.  The fact that he was a former QB is what made the Philly Special... so special.  And because Burton was used a ton, in red zone packages, it didn't alert the Patriots.  If Calcaterra had anywhere near that versatility (which he doesn't) he'd be an obvious alert in the red zone in the SB, because of how infrequently he sees the field.

Agree on all this besides maybe OL I keep going back and forth on. Mailata is better than Vatai but Brooks is better than Seumalo. In theory, a 5 years younger Kelce and Johnson without a torn abductor should be better. Dickerson is better than Wis as long as is his injury isn't serious.

2017 better at pass blocking... 2022 better at run blocking.

I guess this is one benefit of being a "home" team in the Super Bowl.

Maybe a Chiefs player and slip up and get caught up with one of those slutty ASU girls and miss the big game.

You guys are missing the real debate, who would win head to head:. 2017 Eagles vs. 2022 Eagles

The 2017 CBs against these WRs isn't a good matchup for the 2017 team.  I would take this o-line over the 2017 o-line.  I think Reddick would be neutralized by Lane but Sweat would eat Vaitai's lunch.  The safeties were probably better on the 2017 team but it's close.  Ertz would have a big day against this team.  Alshon would be tough for either Slay or Bradberry.  I don't think Darby or Mills could cover AJ or Devonta at all.  Jenkins on Goedert favors the 2017 team.   The defensive lines are pretty even with a slight edge to the 2022 team.  I would give the LBs in 2022 a slight edge over the LBs that started the Super Bowl for the Eagles.  RBs a slight edge to 2022 just because Gainwell is better than Ajayi. Foles as a passer over Hurts but let's see how Hurts does in the Super Bowl. Head coach is probably a push but Doug was on fire in the Super Bowl.  Schwartz would have a slight edge over Gannon due to experience.  Reich would have a slight edge on Steichen.  It would be a close game.  The football gods definitely favored that 2017 team.   I think 2017 would win by 3.

I never liked Vaitai.  I thought he played like complete garbage.  So maybe I'm biased a bit.

True.  But I think Hurts has more of an effect on the game overall.  Teams have to account for him as a runner and a passer at all times, and he has proven capable of killing you doing either of those things at any given time.  And even though it gives us a coronary every time he does it, he's almost guaranteed to QB sneak forward for a yard or two when we need it.

Meanwhile, Foles was a guy who excelled in one offense, and one offense only.  When we switched to it for the playoffs, Foles ran it to near perfection and scaled the mountain.  No one can take that away from him.  But honestly, I don't think Foles could win in the number of different ways like Hurts did this season.

All fair points, but the comparison is to the offense and environment that Foles excelled in. He was just absolutely lights out when we needed it the most. Not sure I've ever seen a player in any sport rise to the occasion like that, only to float back down to earth afterwards.

No probably not, but then again neither could Brady (not comparing the two)

That's the weird part about Foles. Played great for us in 2013 and 2017 but whenever he went somewhere else he ends up being a backup

Maybe for one game.  Gronk was big and strong but Gonzalez much more athletic and could really go up for the ball.  Plus he was very durable.  One 2 games missed in 17 seasons.  That's insane!  Gronk was frequently banged up.  As a result, the career numbers greatly favor Gonzalez.

It is interesting that the Eagles are in much better shape health wise, and that Reid apparently has much tougher practices than our current coaching staff. Personally if both teams were healthy, I wouldn't be too optimistic. But as banged up as they are, I like our chances even with the week of rest.

Kelce will retire as the greatest TE due to his production and longevity.

But in their prime, not counting anything except their on field ability, Gronk crushes everybody. He just didn’t have the longevity to be considered the goat.

Who’s the first guy on the 2022 team to write a book? And will it sell better than Doug’s?
