Give him a stay of execution. He comes back for the Super Bowl and then when it’s over he can ride off into the sunset.

Getting ready to walk out the door to head to the stadium. Same thing I said five years ago....when I get home, I'm either going to be really depressed or extremely jubilant. Later gents.

Don't bother VA with this nonsense. He's mentioned many times before he doesn't handle the moderating

When something is causing this level of upheaval he should know about it.  You are happy he is gone, we get it, but it is bigger than just 4for4. Read Hazelton's post above.

While I understand the mods and their purpose it still feels inherently wrong that another poster who had similar multiple suspensions and warnings was allowed to talk about swastikas, more than once, after being publicly warned by mods to stop, and it took another casually racist post to finally get banned. Meanwhile the only explanation of "enough is enough” is given when there isn’t even a specific post to point to that broke the camels back.

4x4 might not be everyone’s cup of tea but almost no one had an issue with constantly engaging him for pages as well.

The counterpoint is that the guy was told his behavior wasn't acceptable, and absolutely refused to change despite being given numerous chances. All he had to do was follow some pretty basic rules, and he couldn't do it. I am sure the mods don't wake up every day hoping to ban someone, and simply want the community to exist with as little interference from them as possible. But they can't because the same people who are upset with their decision in this case are the ones who constantly demand they take action against posters they don't like.

I'm not so sure this is a case where we need to accept what we cant control.

I think as almost all of us contribute monetarily to run this place, we should have and say on how it gets run.

There needs to be open discussion on this without fear of retribution by mods for criticizing. Because this moderation  system is clearly not working properly.

Having only 1 or 2 active mods causes a lot of issues.

We have now lost a bunch of members recently. Some long time,  valued members ( maybe some liked 4for4, surely most liked JR).  One is banned because we are now pandering to the lowest common denominator. The other is gone by his own choice because this place has become so damaged. We have also seen Veejer pop in and decide to stay away.

VA has put a lot of blood sweat and tears in to this place.  I know he is busy with far more important personal issues. But I'm sure he doesnt want to see this place continue to crumble either. It's a special place to all of us.  That's why he made it.  Why he continues to pour so much time in to it despite what he has going on.  That's why we came here.   That's why we support it.

We decided Reddit doesnt work for us.  What we are finding is,  here isn't working for us either.

Needs to be fixed. Or more will be banned. More will quit. And this place will fall apart.

Well said. None of us want that.

I honestly don’t want anyone banned unless it’s over the top hate speech or 12 year old trolling. This place fills a special hole (giggty) in my heart.

Close.  But there is no need for him to ride off. Mods can ride off. *they cab stay with their personal accounts,  but no need for their mod accounts). When team RTK loses their power to pull the strings of their mod puppets, team RTK will choose to ride off and this will be a much better place.

It will moderate itself naturally.

Right now team RTK is benefiting from biased moderation, and winning.  Certain people are gone and there will be no change. We have only lost long time valued members.

When team RTK is gone,  we will see positive change immediately. And Good posters will stick around.

I don’t think Washington was the "blue print game” it was Chicago. And to be fair, Hurts hasn’t looked like the same passer since that game. Maybe it was him still dealing with the shoulder, maybe it was them not having to rely on the pass game since the game was over by the first half of both playoff games, and maybe it was them playing conservative in the last game of the regular season against the Giants. But what I do know is that it couldn’t have worked out better for the utilization of Hurts coming into this game. He hasn’t had a lot of strain the past month plus and they’re going to need his arm to win this game. I don’t think he’s 100% but at this point of the season, no one is. Mahomes certainly isn’t.

The good news is that this team can win in a multitude of ways not necessarily relying on Hurts’ arm. I do think they’ll need him, but there is a path between the defense and run game if they decide to go that route. I think they can bully KC to a victory.

If KC can get 17 mph winds and 17 degree temps in Glendale Arizona then they may have something.

I heard people talking about how inaccurate Hurts was in the NFCCG. Watch it again. He was throwing the balls tight and low but catchable to keep them out of the wind and away from the shell coverage. The AJ 1st down throw was a extra low but he was running backwards from pressure and still got it there. His NFCCG deep balls to Quez and Devonta were both on target but Smith dropped it and Lenoir had great coverage.

If you see a game with gusting winds with 2 QBs you might see Hurts doing a better job passing in bad conditions (besides those 2 to AJ) but since Shanahan was reckless with his QBs SF was not throwing anything to compare to Hurts.

Mods have posted in here multiple times giving warnings. They said they initially were just letting things go but people in here wanted more moderation and so they got it. Now there are complaints.

Yep.  Mod 12 needs to reverse that action.  Right about now.

Fair enough.

Yep.  So get rid of the report post feature.  Mods won't be bothered then.  Posters won't be suspended or banned. And those who can't report people won't be happy and they'll just quit.

Self moderation.

Good posters will stay.  Idiots who don't like being called idiots will be gone. The level of discourse instantly improves.

Nobody wanted more moderation besides the people spamming reports. That’s the problem.

DHF, are you proposing that both be brought back.  Clearly the timing of their respective bans has some discrepancies, but in the end they have arrived in the same place.

That's a horrible idea

You could probably look back through the threads and see the complaints and then when the mods gave up and said they're going to be more strict

They've said this is where most of the reports come from throughout the site. Which is pretty bad considering

I think it all depends. If people are reporting people because their feelings are hurt maybe they should be banned for wasting time. If someone is posting swastikas, nudity, spamming the board, or some other crazy crap that goes WAY over the line then yeah..flag it for removal not to get someone banned. Fights also happen and they burn out pretty quick. We all get annoyed for a few pages and then we move on. No big deal.

I’m not sure giving a banned poster who’s been suspended umpteen times a stay of immunity would work out in anyone’s favor

It won’t fall apart. It will evolve. The Blog evolved when douglas704 arrived … and left.  It evolved when ghor arrived … and left.  It evolved when ge99 left.

I think the suggestion for reestablishing the R&R forum has a lot of merit.  If that were done, then all banned posters could be reinstated in R&R and restricted to that forum only.

Yea but I find the complaints to be ridiculous. Posters would engage and fight with the usual suspects for pages upon pages. When one person can’t get the last word they resort to complaining to the mods. The fact the most reports come from the blog is bind boggling compared to the crap in every other thread.

Yeah, but at the same time was he banned just for being an a-hole? So what? If someone is making threats, posting swastikas, etc that's another story. This is a Philly team site. Most of us are a-holes.

That's bull. When enough long-term posters leave, which sounds like it could be where we are heading, nobody wants to stick around and talk to noobs. The site isn't beyond crumbling either as HE said.

I want to stick around and talk to noobs. I’ll outlast every one of you

So if the Eagles win the Super Bowl, the  question becomes what do I do with my beard. I haven’t trimmed or shaved it since James Harden played his first game with the Sixers, because i doing it for their run and the start of the Phillies season.

I kept it all the way through the Phillies season.  when they lost the World Series, I thought about shaving it off. But the Eagles were doing so good that I couldn’t bring myself to do that. So now, if the Eagles win the Super Bowl, I don’t know exactly what to do. So the options are

I could never shave again.

I could wait until the Eagles lose their next playoff game sometime in the future before shaving.

I can shave it after the Sixers run .

Or I could just shave if they win Super Bowl.

The problem may well be the absence of a Rant & Rave forum.

Outside of something grotesquely graphic or hateful, I just don't care to filter people. This place is a mixed bag of people and personalities. Lots of awesome nuggets of knowledge, some funny content (my specialty), and everything in between.

If I see something I'm not a fan of.........I just keep scrolling. That's just me.
